    In serious pain

Have you checked for a blood clot? A week after my surgery I started getting back pain on the right side that went around my ribs and up into my shoulder. I couldn't take a good breath because it hurt to bad. Went to the ER and turns out I had a blood clot.
  2. Well that was fun - not. I was banded on April 9th and it went great. About a week later though I was having intense back pain and trouble breathing. Went to the ER Friday and they found a small clot in my right lung. So I spent Friday and Saturday in the hospital and am now on blood thinners for 6 months. The good thing was we caught it early and it was small. I'm feeling much better now though my back still hurts a small amount but that's getting better. My band itself is fine, the incisions are healing great, I'm on full liquids now and let me tell you those creamy Soups are awesome! Weight loss stopped at 19 pounds but I'm not worried about that. With the surgery and then the blood clot and my period deciding that all this was to stressful and so not coming yet (and no there's no way I'm preggers) I'm feeling a bit bloated. Though I'm pretty sure the inches are coming off still. Anyway - if you have ANY trouble breathing, any pain when you breath, do not hesitate to go get it checked! Clots are no fun!

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

Hey all! This morning at about 9am I was banded!! It went really well and I was home by lunch time. Talk about in and out! I'm still really tired from the anethesia but waking up a bit more now and the pain is only minimal. I'm sure I'm still on some pain meds though so we'll see how I am tomorrow. A bit of gas pain and soreness around the port incision. I only have 4 incisions though and no staples or stitches. They're closed with glue! I don't think they're going to scar much at all! I'll take pics of the scars and all that tomorrow when I'm a bit more with it. Hope all the reast of you are doing great!!
  5. The day is finally here! Tomorrow I go for surgery. Have to be there at 10:30 and surgery is at noon. I'm so very excited and only a tiny bit nervous. I've been put to sleep before so I guess that's why it's not bothering me to much. A couple of my friends are telling me I need to bring my phone with me so I can post on Twitter while I'm doped up on the drugs so they can laugh at me. Gotta love friends lol The countdown has begun!

    Going Mental!

I'm glad my preop is only a week. I'm on day six now but honestly it hasn't been to bad. I think I'm just in the right mental frame of mind. I can do anything for a week. Not sure I could make two weeks though - yikes! I'm definitely hungry but I haven't cheated and have been able to sort of put it out of my mind. This morning though was hard making my kids's lunches!

April Bandsters HOw Prepared Are U?

I'm outpatient so don't need an overnight bag. But I'm getting things ready around the house. My friend in the UK sent me a hot Water bottle that's hidden inside a super soft penguin. It's so cute! I plan on using that and the funny thing is she'll be here the day after my surgery so she can help :scared2: I have liquids and soups/broth/shakes. Cleaning my house this week. Need to get GasX and things like that still though. 6 days!

    Pre-Op Diet?

My doc has a 7 day liquid diet. Allowed four shakes a day (like low carb Slim Fast) and other than that it's water, teas, coffee, broth, etc. Started yesterday and it was horrid. Had the worst headache all day. Today - so far - the headache is gone and doing better. Not really all that hungry so if the headache will just be gone I'll be good.
  10. Congrats! How exciting. When you're feeling up to it you'll have to give us all the details.

Okay Bunnies... who have you told?

I've made no secret about it to anyone. I'm online a lot - I'm an internet DJ and do band promotion - so I have a lot of people that follow my blogs and such. My surgery is actually on a day when I have a radio show so obviously I won't be on the air that day and people wanted to know why. Plus I've told my family and friends as well so I figured I'd do something fun and hopefully productive to someone somewhere and blog about my experience. So pretty much everyone that talks to me on a regular basis knows. And so far I've seen nothing but support from them. My dad is an EMT and has been for nearly 40 years and he asked me a lot of questions to make sure I'd done my research but he's very supportive. Even my step-grandmother (who's the biggest witch on the planet) was excited for me. That was a shocker I can tell you. My 7 year old twins have been asking me questions and are excited and want to help in my recovery. I'm sure I'll run into someone who's going to give me crap about it but that's okay. Let them think what they want. It's YOUR body, not there's, and you know what's best for it.

    Meet the Bunnies

Hey all. I'm Kelly, 32, mother of 7 year old boy/girl twins and a 14 year old that's not living with me (he was adopted by my dad and stepmom). Been married to my hubby for nearly 11 years. Starting really fighting with my weight in high school after I got pregnant and had my son. Never lost all that I'd gained and found after that I gained easier and had a harder time losing. Was already overweight and having to watch my blood pressure when I got pregnant with my twins and then gained a lot with them. I'm 5'3" and currently 251. Been thinking about Lap-Band for a long time, know several people that have had it done, but always had insurance that wouldn't cover it or required unreal steps to go through so would try dieting on my own. Best I ever did was lose close to 50 a few years ago, then had a majorly stressful event happen and blew that all to hell lol. Recently I decided to check into things again and found out that my current insurance, United Healthcare, would cover it at 100% without any hoops to jump through and I jumped on it. Surgery date is April 7 and I'm so excited I can barely stand it. Hubby is very supportive, so is whole family. Hubby could really use it too but he doesn't think it's the right move for him but is very much supporting me. I've currently got high blood pressure as well as a bad heel spur which makes it very painful to walk. I'm really hoping I can see good results by June. Hubby's has a highschool reunion and we're taking our twins to Disney World. Would love to get as much off by then as possible to help with the heel spur and just over all feeling better. :crying:

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

Hey everyone! I'm Kelly and my surgery date is set for April 7th. I start my liquid diet on the 31st - a 7 day diet. I'm so excited and so happy to be party of the Bunny Bandsters!
  15. Oh great lol. I'm always cold, always in socks and a jacket and already sleep with two heavy blankets on my bed. DH is always laughing at me cuz I'm cold even when he's ready to turn on the fans. I get banded on April 7 - I'll be an icecube! lol
  16. Being nervous is perfectly normal. I haven't gotten nervous yet though I'm sure I will. My date is the same as yours! :frown: And like you I'm a mom as well - I have 7 year old twins - and certainly wouldn't want anything to happen to me that would leave them without a mom. But I'm sure we'll both be fine and successful and in much better shape to play with our kiddos!
  17. My surgeon is Dr. Jayaseelan. A friend of mine went to him and I've heard lots of good things so I went there. I hope your insurance stuff gets worked out.
  18. My surgery date is April 7! I'm so excited. I've been incredibly lucky and things have moved along quickly. So excited! And and congrats to everyone else who has their dates. :frown:
  19. Hello all! I'm Kelly, 32, mother of 7 year old boy/girl twins. Been thinking about Lap-Band for years now and finally think I'm in the spot to get it done. At least I hope so. Checking with insurance now and all that. Anyway, nice to meet you all!
