  1. Boxergal...Congrats on going to see your surgeon!! Like you, I've been through that phase when my band wasn't adjusted correctly for me. My loss stalled, stopped, then I actually gained some weight! I was embarrassed, felt like I had failed, the band wasn't gonna work for me, etc. I've written about it on here before. FINALLY, I had a friend encourage me to go back to my doctor. I went....not looking forward to the chastising I was sure I would get....and deserve. But that wasn't the case at all. My surgeon and I discussed my situation and he was very encouraging and understanding. He showed me why.....it was right there in my charts/records he had. I'm a failure at dieting long term. We got my band adjusted correctly for me, and IT made all the difference in the world. You've taken the most important step....you're going back to see him/her. I wish you much success in your future. NEVER, EVER give up!

New Forum Is (Not) So Sad!

as a suggestion I see, a lot of the "problems" may stem from the apps more than the actual site on a PC? I don't use the app on my android much anymore.....just haven't taken the time to navigate the changes. However, I can see new content, and I only see BAND patients, and have mine set to "new content".... Also, I can't figure out how to set a pic as my "before" profile pic??? Somehow, the after pic is on there, but I didn't go in a put it there. Just a couple suggestions....David

What Should I Tell My Boss

My suggestion: It sounds as though you wish to keep your procedure private. Thats certainly understandable. So why not just say I'm going to be off on medical leave for a private matter? Unless your boss is the medical department, they have no need to know the type of procedure you are having done. IMO, you should not falsify any info, ( it could be used against you at a later date ) and you should request the leave be covered under FMLA if it applies to your employer. Congrats on your upcoming surgery
  11. Not sure how it compares to a coffee stirrer or straw, but its pretty small. I have a 14cc band with 9.0 cc's in it. I CAN eat almost anything if I wanted to. I don't eat hardly any bread or very much "slab" type red meat. I've mentioned here before, most people wouldn't even know I had a band watching me eat now....it's second nature, 99% of the time. I occasionally will have an issue due to not chewing correctly still 4 years post op. But thats my reminder....and I like it that way. I never, ever, ever have reflux or heartburn. Haven't taken the first TUMS, etc since banding....not one. I feel the important thing to remember is that its not really the NUMBER of cc's of Fluid in your band. Its all about how it works for you. Does it control your portions and hunger? Thats what my band does now. You could have a lot of fluid in your band system, yet feel NO restriction. I'm a big advocate of getting fills done using fluoroscopy....just from my experience.
  12. Each person and their doctor will have a different approach. Heres what my restriction looked like at a recent fluoro checkup. This would have been before consuming anything except coffee for the day. And this level provides good restriction FOR ME.video-2013-07-09-10-24-32.wmv

Share ideas, What did you eat today ?

Debbie, Welcome to bandster hell! I won't pretend to know how many calories per day you need, but will offer this bit of advice/encouragement. It's not uncommon at all, to experience a stall/plateau at your time post banding. You see and hear it all the time on here. Kinda seem like your on a diet right now? Thats the way it was for me early on. My suggestion is to stick with the types of food your surgical team has ok'd, and do your best to limit portions and keep up with that walking, etc. It will certainly help. You don't mention...are you eating because you're "hungry" or following an eating plan given by your medical team? Also, if you're concerned about getting enough protein in, theres a very easy way to accomplish that. Find "New whey liquid protein" shots. 42 grams in 3.5 oz for less than $2 per tube at GNC and other places. I use them occasionally when I'm not hungry. Just hold your nose and swallow! Unless youre like me and don't mind the taste. Hang in there! It gets much better.
  16. Congrats on your continued success Floridays!
  17. Hi Ready2Melt, There could be several reasons for what your doctor is "feeling". Certainly a kinked tubing would provide that pushback the surgeon is feeling. I've personally had this similar thing happen to me, where the surgeon said I SHOULD be feeling restriction, but I was not. Mine was a different reason than what is mentioned above. My suggestion is to have a fill done using fluoroscopy. That way your doctor can SEE what your restriction level is....instead of guessing. Don't get discouraged/annoyed, etc....just as I did. Don't beat youself up! This thing really works....once properly adjusted. Best of luck to you.
