  5. I think that may be pushing it. You may be ok if you sit at a desk. My doc won't let me go back to work for a full two weeks. I was kinda cranky about it but then I did exactly what she said would happen if you try to do too much too soon. I totally wiped myself out yesterday and today I pretty much stayed on my couch resting. You may feel great in about 4 days, just remember your still covering inside your body.
  6. @shap - I actually got a new band and the plication. My doctor did the plication because I am at a point in my weight loss that it really is more about diet and exercising and the plication allows me to eat smaller portions without having to deal with fills. The Lapland is the backup if I need more restriction down the road. I plan not to have a fill and see how I do long term with the plication. Also my doc uses the plication in band repair or replacement because it gives emidiate restriction which helps people not gain weight while they recover (the average gain back is 20-30 pounds). She is finding her patients who get the plication only gain back 2-3 pounds. So far I've lost 8 pounds. I only have 20 more pounds to my goal, so I'm hoping this helps me jump start my weight lost. I have been sitting at around 210 for awhile.
  7. BTW I really can't tell the difference yet with having the plication. My doctor says I should have restriction when I try to eat food. One more week of liquids, then two weeks of mushy. So we will see.
  8. Well I had my surgery last Friday on the 20th. Recovery is soooo much fun. Lol This surgery was to fix my slipped ban and do the plication. So I knew what I was in for. It's all about getting through the first 3 days. Make sure to walk around as much as possible, it helps with the gas. Also don't be afraid to take the pain meds, try to take a sip of water ever 15 minutes. After the first 3 days you will be amazed at how quickly you start to feel like your self again. I haven't really felt hungry yet. I have one more week on liquids. I have lost 8 pounds since the surgery. Down to 200#. My goal weight is 180-190. I really miss working out, but don't want to overdue it my body is still healing. I realized today how much I've changed, I'm not missing food, but I'm missing working out. Didn't think that way when I was 300 pounds!

    I think I'm done losing.

I'm so confused reading all these post. I have been banded for three years and lost 93 pounds and it took me 3 years to get there. No I am not at my "goal weight." But who cares! Our life is about a journey, not a destination. I am alive, I no longer have high blood pressure, sleep apnea, pre diabetes, and depression. Remember WLS is a tool not a cure. We still have to work it everyday. Our lifestyle needs to change, this is not a diet. A Lifestyle Change!!!!! And it can be incredibly fun. So congratulations to everyone who has lost 60 or 30 or 20 or even 1 pound!!!! Now stop crying about your expectations not being met and go celebrate and enjoy what you have accomplished....
  10. Hey Shap, I know what you mean. I had no idea that placation even existed until yesterday. My surgery is Friday so I had to make a decision right away. I decided to go for it because it feels like a back up plan. I will still have my band so if I still need more restriction I have it. My doctor also told me that I will have restriction right away and your not hungry. With just the band you won't have restriction for at least 4-6 weeks. The other reason I'm going for it, is that can be done with removing or re-routing of the stomach. They are just rolling the stomach and creating a tube. But most importunely I trust my doctor. What ever decision you make it will be the best decision for you. I'll keep you posted. Two more days till the surgery!

    Freaking Out

I LOVE food! But my relationship to food has changed. Yes their will be foods you can't eat anymore. It may even feel unfair, but then one day you will do something and realize, "Holly ****! I can do that now!" For me it was when I was walking to a bus stop and had to run to catch the bus. I realized I Could! I wasn't out of breath, my ankles did not hurt, and no one was watching the fat guy trying to catch the bus. I still love food and sometimes I really miss bread. But I refuse to ever be the fat guy running for the bus again. Also, if you want to make a bucket list, make it for all the new places and positions your going to have sex once you lose the weight. Cause great sex is so much better than bread.
  13. So my lap band slipped last week and I'm going in on Friday to fix it. My doctor today told me about the plication procedure and I have decided to go with it. I have had my band for three year and have lost 90 pounds, but for the last 1 1/2 years I have struggled with acid reflux, being over filled, and not able to loss any more weight. So my doctor wants to replace my band and also do the plication. She says that I will have instant restrictions. This will allow me to continue with my weight loss right away after surgery, instead of having to wait to heal then go for fills.
  14. Hey! Thanks for the message on my profile. I had my first fill today, and it went better than expected. But, you are completely right, the past few weeks have been REALLY tough. I feel like I did before the band... hopefully today's fill will make it a bit easier. I'll definitely message you when I need it. Congratulations on your success! Curious, how tall are you? (since we both started at around the same weight). Cheers

  15. Hope your surgery went well. I had mine on January 12, 2009 and started at 288#. I'm now down to 215# and feel great! I had high blood pressure, sleep apnea, high cholesterol, back pain, and pre-diabetic. It all went away! I'm telling you all this, because I remember the first six weeks are the hardest and had to keep reminding my self why I did it. Just remember its a journey and this is just a tool. You still have to workout and exercise. If you have questions let me know. Every week it gets better and better.
