  1. I will give a million fake dollars to anyone that can figure this out and not require me to stay up 20 hrs a day! There is just not enough time in the day to let me take my pills. It's crazy! Here they are: Thyroid medication: Once a day on an empty stomach and then an hour before I can eat. Cannot be taken within four hours of Calcium or Iron supplements or antacid. Calcium; 3x a day. Cannot be taken within 3-4 hours of iron Vitamins w/iron: Doc wants them spread out two a day, but have been taking two together. Can take them with anything because apparently iron trumps everything. Antacid: Currently once a day on and empty stomach. Could be switching to twice a day. HELP!!

    Supplement insanity!

Calcium has to be taken 3 times a day. Also, my endocrinologist said thyroid can't be taken within four hours of the antacid (Iron and calcium too). You see my dilemma! But I think I can take the calcium and antacid together. I think. If thats the case that should help some!

Can't take the antacid with the thyroid.
  4. So, I am 15 days out and I feel hungry all the time. ALL THE TIME. This is not head hunger, I swear. It is physical hunger. But I read somewhere (on here maybe?) that sometimes acid feels like hunger. I'm on a prescription antacids that I take once a day so not sure if that is the culprit. Is there any way to distinguish between the two? I'm getting all my liquids in and my Vitamins and 50ish grams of protien from shakes.

    Hungry or acid?

Oh, and acid was never a problem pre-op. Never had any issues like that.

    Hungry or acid?

But how do I know it's acid not hunger?
  7. So I have my list from the doc, but it is far from a comprehensive list. I have some food that I want to add in and I need to know when. Here they are: Avocado Shell fish cheese (low fat, of course) Mushrooms (if I grill a portobello is it a soft food?) Dark chocolate Now, don't get all up in arms about the chocolate. I'm talking very dark (very little sugar), 1 oz or less, on very rare occasions. Sweets have never really been a problem for me, but I do like the occasional piece of dark chocolate. My problem are portions and butter. Also, I start purees in a few days (thank heaven) and I had a few questions: My list says canned fish. Do you still wizz this or do you eat it as is since it's already kind of mushy? Do you wizz things like eggs and cottage cheese? Is this the phase where everyone raves about the Wendy's chili? Do you puree that too? Is this where you stop mixing food and drink? Thanks for the help!
  8. Kindle- I am on the same flight! If you get this I'm sitting three rows from the desk, black sweater, short hair, husband is bald and in a blue button up. Coopspa

  11. Leaving to today and had some last minute questions! Can I pay for my meds/etc. at OCC with a credit card or does it need to be cash? My husband is traveling with me and will be staying the night alone at the Marriott. We pay for that night seperately, right? How much? Does the Walmart accept US dollars? How much cash should we bring? Thanks!
  12. Warning: the following post has TMI So, surgery is on Friday (!!!!!!!) with Dr Ortiz, and we are flying out in two days. But, wouldn't you know it, I started my period today. I'm very irregular and have no idea when it's ever gonna hit, and of course it comes today. So my periods go like this: so my heavy days are always days 3 and 4, which means surgery day. Anyone else have this issue? What do they do? I usually use tampons, but can I do that? Do I need to go buy pads? This seriously blows.
  13. I know that sounds like a psychology question, but I mean that literally. I'm pre-op (6 more days!!) but as I look at the post-op food that I'm supposed to eat, and the stuff that people talk about eating on the boards and I had a question. It's a lot of sugar free or low carb or fat free stuff and I'm wondering, is that for enhanced weight loss or does it have something to do with the sleeve and recover?. Can the sleeve not tolerate sugar or fats? I know that further out people talk about eating whatever they want in moderation, but not so in the weeks/months right after surgery (ie: fat free greek yogurt with sugar free torani syrup can you not just eat yogurt?). Not looking for a loophole, just trying to understand.
  14. Yep, same flight! We are also flying in on the 19th. What time does your flight arrive?
  15. Kindle- My surgery is the same day! Also, we are flying from San Diego into SLC too, which is where I live. My husband is coming with me so if you are flying alone on the 23rd, we can help you out . At least until Salt Lake. When are you flying in?

    Any December OCC patients?

Scheduled my surgery last week for Dec. 20th. Nervous but ready!
  17. I just got a surgery date scheduled for the first part of December. I'm very excited to have a path to a new life (or my old life, before I gained all the weight). However, it seems like everyones days are constantly full of worry about, carbs, grams of Protein, can I have this or that, how much Water have I had, etc. While I am willing to do that for my health and life, it just seems exhausting. Is there ever a point that you get to where you just live? Where you've changed your eating and the new way is habit and you just go through your day without constantly thinking about your new stomach? Or is this a lifetime thing? I'm not expecting this to be easy, but I worry all the time about being fat (and all the things that come with that), am I just replacing one stress with another? Are there days that you just feel "normal"?
  18. After much soul searching and much research I have decided to have my surgery in Mexico a the end of the year. I am nervousbut confidant in my decision. The one thing that concerns me is the flight there. I hate, hate, HATE to fly. I avoid it at all costs. I live in Utah and San Diego is a 10 hr drive. Do you think I would be able to drive (well, my husband, I'll be sleeping in the back) after surgery? Would it be too uncomfortable/painful? We could stop in Vegas and make it two five hour days, but part of me thinks I would just want to be home. Thoughts from those who have gone before?
