Yes your correct. I just joined but haven't done anything there until I get a release from my Dr to do the exercise there. :)

Well, it finally happened. I threw up a meal. I had a pork chop and some asparagus and I scarfed it down. I had been to the Dr. for some blood work and was starving. I hadn't had any food. I didn't chew my food and take lil bites like I was supposed to. What else can I say but that it's my fault.

I can't believe we both did on the same day. I've heard rice and bread are hard to eat. I guess after hearing your story, I won't try it. Thanks for the heads up.

Well, I've lost somewhere around 20 lbs and I feel good about how my incisions look. I go back to the Dr. for the first time on the 1st of the month for my first fill. I'm kind of excited about that. A lil scared to be honest. I hope all my fellow bandsters are doing as well. Good luck to all of you out there.

Hi Malysa, My name is Melissa too  I would tell you to throw it all out but you don't really have that option with other family members around. They can really sabotage you whether they mean to or not. My Dad doesn't give a $hit what he eats in front of me and his attitude is one of "well, she's gonna have to learn how to eat around people." I hate that and I'm glad I live with a very supportive husband. He's doing Atkins which is similar in many ways to the high Protein low carbs that we are on. Good luck with your next week and just try to steer clear of the cabinets that you know have your favorite junk in them. That's what I do when I go over to Mom and Dads place. Best of luck, Mikissa -
My husband isn't being supportive
Mikissa replied to Kristy29's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry that your hubby isn't being supportive. He could be afraid of the Hot Momma he'll have on his hands when you lose the weight. Just know that you have support on here and we have walked in your shoes so to speak about the surgery. Best of luck and don't get discouraged. P.S. We all ate whatever junkfood we could while we were still unbanded b/c we knew that there would be a day we couldn't. Go for it. -
Some Dr.s don't have you do it. The reason behind the pre op diet is to make the liver shrink. This makes it shrink about 25%. Some Dr's. have gotten away from the diet these days. Be glad if yours is one of them. I know you probably feel lost listening to everybody whine about it on here. Ha ha ha

The port will become less sensitive and the pain in the shoulder and the surgical soreness will go away with mobility. It worked for me. If you shoulder is hurting, there is gas that is still trapped. It's common but I didn't have it on this surgery. Other surgeries have been awful though. Good luck and move around as you can. Chat soon. Mikissa

I am finding that it's hard to get all the protein (60g) in as prescribed by the Dr. I am supposed to be getting 35 carbs as my goal too. That's hard to eat something without the carbs adding up quick... I do the best I can. I'm also finding it hard to get all my water intake in like I was preop. I guess when water is all you can have, it makes a difference.:rolleyes2:

So how did it go Nean4488? Your surgery was yesterday. Was it uneventful?
-
Good luck. Everything should go really smooth for you on the day of your surgery. We all were in your shoes and came out of it just fine. Maybe sore but all in all you'll be just beautiful scars and all. :w00t:

Thanks for the feedback. It reassures me a lot. -
Well, I will be meeting with a trainer on Monday at the gym that I just joined. I am nervous and excited. I have such a long way to go and I know I can do it but it feels like such a long way off. I don't want to be stared at by the "skinny" people but if that's the price you pay to get into shape, I will pay that price. I haven't been adjusted yet but I think I'm roughly where I need to be. I'm eating very lil to get full so that's a good sign. The worst part of all of this is having to take all the medications that I take and having to crush them to swallow them. I hate the chalky taste.
-
For anybody who read this initial post, I have a suggestion if you too have a lot of meds to swallow. Take it with applesauce. It covers the chalky taste and gives you relief when taking it. Just make sure it's sugar free natural apple sauce. Best of luck out there.

Good luck on your fill. I haven't had one yet and I'm nervous about mine. I think your Avatar is soooo cute. The kitty from Shrek. -
Hey Bella, Hope everything is going better now. Maybe some of that air is gone now and you can enjoy things better. I'll bet you've lost some more weight. Can't wait to hear from you.

Thank you for the pep talk. I can use it. I am nervous about my first Dr.s appointment b/c I've never had a fill before. Can you tell me what that's like? -

I'm so glad you're now officially banded. I have lost 15lbs total on my scales anyway since I was banded. I go back to the Dr. on the 1st and I am nervous about him giving me an injection since my port is still got glue all around it. -
What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!
Mikissa replied to auntlucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It surprises me every time I hear somebody tell me their stories. It's just a bunch of hot air coming from ghastly people. So sad that they can't see you for who you are. -

that's so wrong. I too had a grandma who was always hard on me but she never realized how bad she hurt my feelings. It was years later that she said she never realized how sensitive I was. At this point she was dying of cancer and I guess you rethink a lot of what you say and do to people then. -

THanks Jodi, I am happy I have made this decision but I'm not seeing any significant weight loss yet. Maybe I need a fill. But I eat a boiled egg and get full so it's not like I'm overeating. ?? Who knows what's going on. -

that's just awful that anybody would do that to you. I'm glad you had the state of mind to take up for yourself with that quick quip. I would have been too in shock to come up with something that good.
