Thanks Carol! Where is the meeting located at the Faulkner? I am feeling in much better spirits today.

Thank you for the support and advice! I think for some reason everything is hitting me all at once today. It's an adjustment... even taking my medication now seems like a pain. But I never do well with change at first- I know intellectually this was a good decision. On a positive note, I am down 40 pounds since I started this whole thing with Dr. R in January.

I think I have moved to the stage where I am feeling depressed and wonder if I made a huge mistake... Is this normal???
  4. I started driving again yesterday. Seems to be okay so far. I've stopped the Oxycodone as well... I was getting headaches with it and still was in pain from the surgery... It just didn't seem worth it. I am so hungry!

Hi Lily, I am doing good. Just very hungry!! Who is your nutritionist? I am starting to think about what I can eat during the soft food stage for dinner... any thoughts? I had my MRI this morning and see Dr. R again on the 15th I believe. Hopefully everything is normal with my liver! Glad you are feeling better!!
  6. I am glad your fever went down! Hope the head ache goes away as well. The first few days were really tough for me with being sore and daily headaches... ugh! And it didn't help reading in the forums about all of these people who thought the surgery was a breeze and that they weren't even in pain..... What??? That just made me worry even more that something was very wrong with me. But beginning yesterday I think I am finally on the upswing. Now I am just so freaking hungry. This liquid diet has been VERY hard, but we almost have a week under our belts! In terms of my regular medications I have been cutting them in half and that seems to be okay. The only one thats really hard is my Metformin, which is a huge pill- I end up cutting that into like 8 peices. I tried crushing them all in the beginning but I just couldn't handle the taste. Did they give you pain meds?

  7. Hi there! Good luck with your upcomming surgery! I just added you as a friend.

    Banded June 1st

Hope you feel better Vjack! I was banded on the 2nd and today was the first day I felt any better at all. Still pretty sore, but I was able to finally sleep on my side last night (I was able to do this by holding a pillow on my stomach). I totally know what you mean about feeling like your gut is going to fall out! I feel like that everytime I stand up!

I have been having trouble finding liquid Tylenol as well. I also just noticed on my discharge paperwork it says I am suppose to be taking liquid Pepcid- yet no one mentioned that to me. Then again, my discharge paperwork also says I have no diet restrictions.... ummm, yea. Not feeling particularly great today. Going to try and lay down a bit. Hope your fever goes down Lily.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I had my surgery Wednesday afternoon and was discharged yesterday. I guess I have to go for an MRI on Wednesday though because when they did the surgery, Dr. R saw leasions on my liver??? He says its probably nothing, but better to be safe then sorry I suppose. Anyone else go through this? Now I am just sore! How long does this pain last for? Also, when I call his office at B&W, I usually deal with his assistant Megan who has been great. I think I had one interaction with Jennifer (and it was around being billed the $550 after I had already paid). Lilly, I hope you made out good with your surgery also and got to go home. It was cool running into you in the Upper GI waiting room!

Thanks for the support ladies! I am going to try going the straight liquid route. Lily, I meant to tell you that I drink the Carnation Instant Breakfast (non-sugar) and Unjury protein shakes. I actually really like the Unjury. It has 20 grams protein and actually really fills me up. My problem is mental... and like Carol said, I seem to have a case of "last supper" syndrome. BUT I am going to stay on track until Wednesday.

I figure I will spend the next 3 days on protein shakes and clear fluids. Think that will help??

Lily, I also have Dr. R! How funny! He told me I had to lose 30 pounds before I could have surgery. I intially thought he was CRAZY, but now am glad to have a jump start on my weight loss journey.... Of course with that said, I have probably gained 10 pounds in the last week. As I said before, I have really screwed up with my dinner "meals". It's like I am eating more then I normally do! Maybe its the fact I won't be able to eat a lot of the things I like afterward... maybe self sabotage? Has anyone else done horribly with the pre-op diet and lived to tell the tale? I was doing great- lost the 30 pounds and now a few days before surgery I am blowing it!!! So frustrating!!! Should I reschedule? How serious is the pre-op diet?

So, I haven't been doing very well with my one "meal" a day either. I do good all day with the protein shakes and then just blow it at dinner. I'm thinking that I should go on a pure liquid diet starting today until I have my surgery- Just to compensate. It does seem like some people on this website didn't even have to do a pre-op diet. Should I be worried??? Lily how did you find out your surgery time already??? I was told to call the day before between 3:30pm-6:00pm to get my surgery time.... Thanks Carol for the Faulkner meeting info! :cursing:

Just a few more days to go! Quick question- I know the meeting at Brighams is the 3rd Tuesday of every month... but when is the meeting at Faulkner held? Congrats Carol on getting your date moved up!

    June Bandsters

Which protein shakes have you found to be good?
  18. Yeah, I am only on day 4 of my pre-op diet and having trouble. 6 weeks post-op liquid diet just seems CRAZY to me. My doctor wants me to do 2 weeks of liquid after surgery and then I can start introducing soft foods. 6 weeks of liquid seems cruel. I commend you for making it this long!!!
  19. I'm lucking because I am on a partial liquid diet... I'm allowed 4 oz of lean meat and veggies for dinner and the rest is protein shakes and water- I'm on day 4 and have had some moments of weakness (and cheated at dinner). However, I've notice the Unjury protein shakes keep me full the rest of the day. I noticed on this site that some people don't even have to do the liquid diet....

Approved! June 3rd is my date!

liquid diet has been hard.... I have had a few slip ups, but getting better....

Hi Everyone! I will be having surgery over at Brigham & Women's on June 2nd. I started this process back in October so it is hard to believe it is now just around the corner. I see a lot of people here go to the support group over at the Faulkner- do any of you go to the one at B&W? It's probably sad to say but I am not sure I even know where Faulkner is. Hmmmm.......

Approved! June 3rd is my date!

I started this whole process back in October. I've had my surgery date for over 4 months now.... Long waiting list I guess?! Anyways, my surgery is June 2nd! I'm excited, nervous, excited some more... Lots of emotions! Good luck with your journey and keep us posted!

    Hello Everyone!

I know what you mean Amy. I started this whole process back last October. But, my surgery is finally right around the corner- June 2nd! Good luck in your journey!
  24. Congrats on going through with it! My surgery is June 2nd!
  25. Good Luck! Before you now it, it will be over with... at least that is what I have been telling myself! My surgery is right around the corner on June 2nd. It took me a long time to get to the point of even deciding to do this procedure. What has helped me is knowing people who have had it done AND who say their only regret is not getting it done sooner. So take a deep breath and try to relax. Keep us posted!
