any have problems with people they told about the procedure?
Marlluvia replied to MJK Media's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Since we are talking about co-workers and what not. I am not banded yet, but hopefully I will have a successful outcome. I wasn't planning on telling anyone at work about my procedure. Perhaps only my really close friend. With that in mind, how do I answer questions about my weight. God willing and I lose, they will want to know what I'm doing, and in detail because that's just the way they are. They won't settle for cutting back, etc. These are some nosey people I work with. Any advice would be appreciated. -
Well I'm glad you're feeling better Sherri. My surgery will be the day after yours. I'm feeling very nervous about the whole thing, to the point that I think I'm giving myself anxiety attacks. My doctor had told me that stress brings them on and I'm starting to believe him. Anyway, I'll keep you in my thoughts as your surgery approaches.

Welcome to lapband. Glad to see you here. I have UHC also and was approved within 2 weeks of sending in paperwork. I'm scheduled for July 11. Best of luck and you will find lots of useful info. on this site, as well as, caring people.

Smile Sherri, it will do you good. I'm sorry this is happening, and can totally relate to your situation. My husband did the same thing to me last week. He made some hurtful remarks that made me feel awful, but he came back and apologized for it a couple of hours later. I just think your husband feels threatened by your upcoming surgery and this is his way of expressing it. Try to take it with a grain of salt and continue with your plans; I'm sure he will come around and everything will be better. You'll see. Feel free to vent as much as you'd like. We are here for support, whether it be for banding or otherwise.

Excitement abounds!!
Marlluvia replied to sunnybitrider's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Trish and Becky. Glad to have you on board. I'm also fairly new to this site, but have obtained loads of information by reading the posts. I had my first consult on May 31. Ins. approved me within two weeks and I am scheduled to have my surgery done on July 11. I'm really nervous, but also excited. -
My doctor suggested I begin a liquid diet about a week before my surgery, which is scheduled for July 11. However, I'm thinking about maybe starting weight watchers tomorrow, that gives me about 3 weeks to lose some weight. Then maybe go on the liquid diet starting July 3 for the week before surgery. Good luck to everyone with their upcoming surgery, I will remember everyone in my prayers.

Congrats on your upcoming surgery. I perfectly understand your feelings. My surgery is scheduled for July 11th and that seems right around the corner for me now. My approval came within two weeks and I was completely floored. I thought I would have to wait longer. I originally had a date of June 20, but decided to move it back a little. I needed some time to let it all sink in. Good luck and I'll see you around.

Hi everyone. My date is on July 11 and I'm so excited and so nervous. I'll keep you posted.

5'3" and I would be happy at 140 pds. I think at my height I should be between 125-140. I will aim for the higher number.

Hi everyone, I'm really feeling pretty lousy right now. I finally got approval from my insurance company and I should be jumping up and down right? Well, I am excited, but also nervous about this whole ordeal. To make things more complicated; my pillar of strength,my DH, is not being supportive about it. He tells me I'm rushing into it and have let the doctor brain wash me. I find those words very hurtful because I have been looking forward to having this procedure done for awhile. I was lucky in the fact that my insurance company approved me within two weeks, which is something alot of people struggle with. His biggest issue is the money. We are on a tight budget and I will have to pay my percentage for the procedure once ins. covers their portion. I am totally aware of our financial struggles, but I may not be able to have surgery after August. My employer is going to change ins., and for all I know, Lapband may be excluded by then. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.:think

Thanks everyone for your support. It's nice to know there are people who understand what this is like. My husband called me from work and apologized for his rude statement and is going to talk to his boss about taking time off to be with me during surgery. Once again thanks and I'm glad to have you guys in my corner.

When I went to my doctor and asked about Lapband, he supported the idea and gave me the name of a good doctor. He told me he would do anything to help me get approval and that I was a good candidate for the WLS. I am not banded yet, so it will be awhile before we see results. Gracie

Hi doctor C. and welcome to LBT. My question is as follows: My doctor has done over 1600 Lap RNY, but has done only about 90+ Lap bands. Did I make the right decision going with this doctor? I am new to all this. I have not been banded yet.

OK, here goes. My doctor wants me to have some pre-screening done for the surgery, however, I am not yet approved by my insurance. That means if insurance denies my claim, I am stuck with a big bill. I don't have the means to pay for medical bills right now, that's why I'm trying to get approval thru ins. When I spoke with the nurse at my first consult she said it would be good to have these ready once I was granted approval. To me, that meant, it would be good for me to have them done, but don't necessarily have to for paperwork submittal. I called doctor's office this morning and asked if prescreening was part of paperwork submittal to ins. They told me it would be helpful. When I told her about not being approved yet and having to pay for all the expenses myself, she put me on hold. She came back and told me that they would submit my paperwork without them, and would probably know something in about 3 days. After all this rambling, my question is: Did everyone here have to submit their pre-testing with paperwork to get approval? Please enlighten me for I am confused and somewhat frustrated. Gracie

Thanks Medusa, that's a good idea. Maybe I'll try that. Thanks for the input. Gracie

I'm not sure what to suggest on this one. I would be very upset if I were in the same situation. It seems like alot of doctors are really becoming greedy and taking advantage of people who are in true need of their services. If you can find a doctor in your area that takes your insurance, I think I would check into it and find out how hard it would be to change doctors. Experience is a major plus, but so is ethics. In the end, it's a decision you'll have to make. It's not fair that you should have to pay a fee when your doctor is supposed to be contracted with the ins. company. I hope you get it everything in order for your surgery. Best of luck. Gracie

Can't believe it!!!
Marlluvia replied to Teresa'sTurn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That's great! I also have UHC and my doctor told me it would be about 2 to 3 weeks to get approval from them. I am from Houston, Tx. I am also excited and nervous like yourself. I saw my doctor on May 31, so I will call them next week to check my status, unless they call me first. Let me know if you hear something from your doctor's office, since we have the same insurance. I will post here, as soon as I know something. Good luck! Gracie -
New Arrivals, Let's get to know each other!
Marlluvia replied to zexxah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
 Hi everyone. I had my first visit with the surgeon today. He made me feel at ease once we started talking about the surgery. I felt like I didn't ask enough questions, but he encouraged me to call his office with any questions I might have before surgery. I am just starting insurance approval so I will not know anything for a while. In the meantime, I am going in this Friday to have preliminary testing done. Gracie -
Hi, I don't personally know anything about the molding clinic, but maybe you should read the forum on lap band complications. They have lots to say about the Molding Clinic. Best of luck in your journey. Gracie
