Newbie: has to lose 10% before surgery
YankeeFanatic replied to jacobsmomma02's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dont Worry about it, they use the weight that you started with when you came in for your first visit. If your still worried just say you are a inch smaller than you really are they dont check. -
Success/experiences the first month??
YankeeFanatic replied to Agnes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on june 11th, I lost 30 lbs from May 18th till my surgery on June 11th and as of today I am down a total of 40 lbs (I know it dosent show on my ticker, I cant figure out how to update it LOL). It is very weird I barely eat at all, sometimes I dont even get in three meals a day. I have a optifast shake for breakfeast everyday along with my vitamin and nexium. For lunch I have either soup (can only have about 1/4 of a can) or tunafish with a few crackers, or chilli, or yogurt. For Dinner its pretty much the same as lunch. Some days I dont even have lunch. After dinner I sometimes have a sugar free pudding or ice pop and decaf coffee every night. I am going to start to work out next week (light) just giving my incision one more week to heal a little bit more before I start to excersise a little bit. My first fill is not until August 8th. -

I was banded June 11th as well and i know exactly what you mean I was in so much pain that first night and I too saod to myself what the hell did I do to myself. I am really glad that i had to stay in the hospital overnight i Dont know why every DR dosent require this. I was in alot of pain but at the same time I refused all pain medications but I woke up the next day and felt alot better. Tonight I s;ept from 11 PM - 4am and am feeling a little uncomfortable right now.

I was banded june 11th as well, I am the opposite of all of you people I didnt think the pain was going to be that bad. I am really glad I had to stay in the hospital overnight I woke up this morning feeling a 100% better, still very sore but not too too bad. Last night i was secong guessing why I got the band. But today I was happy as a kid in a candy store with my decision to change my life and become a healthier me .:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::biggrin::thumbup::tt2::thumbup::tt2::thumbup::tt2::thumbup::tt2::thumbup::tt2::thumbup::tt2:

Had my surgery yesterday June 11th in Long Island New York, I gotta be honest I almost chickened out but I Didnt. I just got home frm the hospital today and I just feel a little sore not to bad at all. The first day was a little uncomfortable I am glad I was in the hospital and not at home. I woke up this morning feeling a 100 times better though. Good lck to everyone that is getting it done soon believe me its not that bad at all before you know it its over. Just remember that you feel alot better the second day good luck everyone. -

What Hospital did you get the surgery in. I am from New York And want to make sure I dont get that asshole. -
I know exactly how you feel belive me I do. I am going in for surgery on June 11th and Like you I had gained weight from when I first went in to see the dr (march) till my visit where they go over all your pre op test (May 13th , my birthday) I gained 9 pounds and I felt like such an idiot. You would of thought that from the time I knew I wanted the surgery till the surgery I woul dhave started watching my weight , no not me I ate more than ever i couldnt control myself. My wife even said to me one night that I shouldnt get the surgery because she said if you cant control yourself now how are you going to do it after the surgery and I didnt have a answer for her. Than My mom who was very supportive of the whole surgery thing said to me one day I see you are eating alot do you think this surgery is rerally for you maybe you should cancel the surgery. To make a long story short my doctor put me on the pre op diet on May 17th and I wasent aware of this till may 14th, I was shocked I only though the pre op diet was suppose to be 2 weeks. Anyway Since i started the pre op diet Ihave lost 20 lbs and yes it was hard the first 4-5 days but after that you dont even feel hugry anymore. So my point is dont worry about gaining a little weight and starting to diet before hand when the times comes to do it you will do it if you want it that bad. I did. If you would have asked me 3 months ago if i could do a diiet like that i would have said no way but the fact of the matter is I want this really bad and I will do whatever it takes to achive this and I know you will too so dont be so hard on yourself and good luck with the surgery and teh pre op diet believ me its not that bad the first 4 days suck and than its really easy

HEy I am the 11th of June as well I have been on the pre op diet since May 18th which consist of A optifast shake for breakfeast, another for lunch, a protein bar mid day and for dinner 5-7 oz of chiekcen, fish or turkey, salad with no fat dressing and green vegetables. Starting today I am on all optifast for breakfeast lunch and dinner. I have lost 20 lbs since I started this pre op diet. It was really hard the first 5 days but now it isnt bad at all i am rearely hungry actually. It just sucked memorial day weekend when evryone was eating steak, sausage and hamburgers and hotdogs and i was sucking down a optifast while evryone lese was throwinf down beers. I cant wait to justget thing surgery done already -
I am on Day 5 of me pre op diet as well And I agree day four was the worst so far, i am not having my surgery till June 11th so I have alot longer way to go with this opti fast diet. I did step on my wii fit today and it said I lost 13 lbs since starting the pre op diet I was so shocked I couldnt believe it it made me really forget about not beong able to eat normally was a good boost that I needed. This weekend is going to be tough Memorial Day Weekend, I am going out to my parent summer house for the whole weekend and they are going to be BBQ drinking and having a good time. I will just have to drink my shakes when everyone else is having a beer and eat chickedn breast when weveryone else is having hAMBURGERGS AND HOT DOGS Ohh well just have to bite the bullet and deal with it, good luck to you

Help-surgery close & eating more than ever
YankeeFanatic replied to Froggie D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know exactly how you feel. A couple of weeks ago I too was worried about the same thing, my wife even asked how I was going to be succesful at this band surgery If i couldnt stop eating bad beofre the surgery and I too wondered as well. i went to the dr last week for a visit and the started me on my pre op diet on Monday, I am having surgery June 11th so my pre op diet is a little more than three weeks and I thought it was going to be hell and I know it has only been three days since i started but I have done really well so far and evryone on here says its the first three - fou days that are the hardest So hopefully I will be fine. I was like you why should I start eating good before I had to i cant explain it but somthing just clicks when all of a sudden they tell you to go on the pre op diet and I believe the same wil happen for you as well -
started my pre op diet on Monday As well and my Surgery is June 11th. I have been on optifast for three days now and it really has not been as bad as i thought it was going to be. My doctor must be a realy srict one because evryone else that has my surgery is not starting there pre op diet till late next week. But like you said I had so many last meals last week that I think I am finally done with all that, weird I havent even really thought about eating that much, this weekend will be a true test. Memorial day weekend with my fmaily at my parnets summer house where last year all I did was eat and drink beers, THIS YEAR i WILL BE SUCKING DOWN OPTIFAST AND PROTEIN BARS WHAT A DIFFERENCE a YEARS MAKES
