Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris
weightogo replied to susanlondon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi WS Thats good then, thanks hun x -
Yes it is Debs. Jane ended up puncturing my tubing in 2 places. I had to go back to Belgium to have it fixed. Then got an infection there and spent a week in hospital because of it. Did Jane offer me any money back? 2 x £125 per fill Eurostar costs £195. Surgery costs £150 ish Nope. Have I heard from her since? Nope. Would I therefore recommend her? Nope. Shame, because she was very funny and I liked her. But if anything goes wrong, there is no comeback, as I have found out.

Thanks Jo jo. The chap did ask me where I want to be filled, and I did say London. He also seemed a little vague too, so I'm glad I called Julie's number again Do you think I need to take anything with me? I cant find any of my paperwork from Dr Chris -

Am I Tight? Has Lap Band Slipped? Help!
weightogo replied to weightogo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Morning all, thanks for your replies. Yes I understand I wont get medical advice here, I'm only really after other peoples experiences and best guesses. I can't get treatment on the NHS because I didnt qualify with my PCT for WLS and therefore anything to do with the band is not covered. Unless it is a life threatening emergency, they made that quite clear when they discharged me from the hospital after my infection had calmed down. My initial surgery was with Dr Chris De Bruyne. And my tube repair was with Dr Dilleman. That's where I got my infection I have had some communicaiton from my orignal surgeon but only to tell me how much it will be to see him. And there's been known from the 2nd surgeon. And the nurse who punctured my tube hasnt contacted me either. So I have 4ml in a 10 ml band, I cant get any defills because I have to go private, and they told me I had to have qan xray check at a cost of £350 before they fill take on my care. So a lot of it comes down to money and no one wanting to take responsibility for their f**k ups. If anyone wants to use a travelling nurse for fills...don't bother. I have started the 5 day pounch test today, to try and ease the pain a bit and see if I can start over with it. xx -
HI all Had my band fitted 18 monthsd ago in Belgium. Found out 2 weeks after that we were pregnant. All fine. 11 months later I had my first fill. It was a travelling band fill (in the UK) provider/nurse who came to my house and did it. No restriction. Had another fill 2 weeks later (£250 in total). No restriction. Booked for another fill - this time we checked the Fluid levels. Found it had leaked. Turns out fill provider had punctured right through the tubing on the first fill. She booked me in to see her own surgeon for a repair. Went back to Belgium in June. At a cost of around £400. A week later the port site got infected and I spent a week as an emergency patient in hospital. Managed to keep my port - they wanted to remove it. So now, a few months on, I am still struggling - I was very very sick with pancreatitis, now have gastritis which is really painful for the past 3-4 months. I can't see my GP about this because the NHS won't treat me, because I went abroad for my surgery. I am very very tight in the day, anything thicker than Soup gets stuck and I'm sick. Then by the evening I am slightly looser, can manage to eat some food though. Fluids are not a problem. I can't decde if I think it's slipped or not. Sometimes I can a full meal and sometimes I struggle like mad. I tryo to stay around 1200-1500 cals per day. I was working out for 2 hrs a day but my baby is really active now and I'm constantly chasing him around. And I start back to work in 3 weeks (I'm a lab scientist). It seems that I am becoming more restricted as time goes on..a reversal if what one would expect. I'm getting tighter over the weeks, not looser. So I'm £650 out of pocket (as well as 4k for the band in the first place), and what a surprise I haven't heard from the fill nurse since I was in hospital in July. The surgeon in Belgium hasn't contacted me either since picking up a surgical site infection in his side room (I wasnt taken into a proper cleanroom theare when he did my port repair). It's all a bloody sham and I am not losing weight any more. I can barely eat, and I'm constant pain and getting no where. So far I have lost 43lbs and seem to be stuck at that - bouncing around a few lbs either side for months. Yet I can barely keep any food down. I am not eating bad slider foods, I eat Soups, potatoes, veggies, plenty of fish- very little crap food. Very little junk. What the hell do I do? I can't see the GP, and I can't go private again it's just too damn expensive. I just dont know what's going on any more with this band. I need help

Hi all, happy new year. I had my band done in Belgium under Dr Chris De Brunye, all went very well. At the time of surgery we didn't know I was about 4 weeks pregnant. So when we did find out at around 7 weeks I cancelled the fill I had planned. And I didn't have any fills at all. Well, in November we had a beautiful healthy son and I'm now going to start my weight loss journey. I have a 1st fill booked for this Sunday (there's a woman who comes to your home to do it, at a cost of £125). But I am really nervous, probably over nothing but it worries me that my band won't work as it should - due to pregnancy and normal eating throughout. I'm also unsure of what stage of weaning I should start on, do I need to start as if I am newly post surgery? I don't suppose there's anyone else in a similar situation of being pregnant when newly banded and having 1st fill 9+months after surgery? Thanks
-
Well yesterday I got my 1st fill, 4ml in a 10ml band. I dont know if I can feel any restriction, I dont really know what I should be feeling but so far all is ok.
-
Hiya Tina, 3mls doesnt seem too bad to start with. I didnt get my fill last week, the lady couldnt make it but fingers crossed for this weekend! She said up to 4 ml for me so hopefully it will be 3-4ml. But I'm sure you will lose weight, it concerns me also but it'll all be ok, all we've done is delay things that's all, it should still all be fine. x

I had my band in April (didnt know I was pregnant at the time) and had a c section 7 weeks ago. All has been fine. I don't see why a section would have anything to do with a band or port, they are working inside the uterus not anywhere else.

I don't bellieve for one minute the post is true. I have seen this on so many forums just lately. All for attention and entertainment at our expense. And for the record if my husband neglected me and slept in the basement for 4 years I would fuck off too. -

Christ almighty, how to get turned off a forum in 5 minutes!! I'm keeping well clear of this area, I cannot be arsed with that sort of aggression on a forum. I haven't logged on in nearly a year and now I remember why. -

 Hey hun Yup all is fab here, we've been trekking off to Mothercare, arguing over which combo pram/car seat we like haha. He's utterly in love with his new baby..and has turned into a soppy arse and sits there reading everything he can on whats happening and how to support me. He's asking me a million questions and going right soppy eyed when he looks or touches my belly - whch is all fat and nowt else really. But he'll put his hand under my flabby belly just above my pubic bone and say 'is that where she is??'. We have our first scan in a week or so, and the 1st midwifes appt on Wednesday. wooo. we're going to see his family on Saturday to tell them, Im shitting myself! The eating thing seems to be a bit better, fewer incidents of food getting stuck now. I do seem to be eating for 25 though -

Aw Freckles so sorry to hear about your band woes, I agree too - what a bunch of pratts!! I hope your solicitor is a good one. For me all is ok - we're 9 weeks pregnant now and my hubby calmed right down within 4 days. He is fine with it all, he was just shocked to high heaven! He's making plans for our future so we're all ok. He's even discussed names with me lol As for the band - bloody hell, I wish I'd known I was pg, I wouldnt have bothered spunking 3.5K on a band. I can eat anything I want including the banned stuff such as bread. I'm not losing weight after the initial 9lbs. I'm always getting food stuck, and I have morning sickness like a whatsit  I feel like crap. Thoroughly fucked off at the moment. -
Hi, I got banded just over 2 weeks, I've also had PCOS for about 10 years, so fertility has been zilch. I know that I am a couple or so weeks late with my period so decided to do a test today. I did 2, and they are both positive. God knows how this could have happened (apart from the obvious lol) because I can't get pregnant. I must have already been pregnant when I had my band, this has worried me somewhat after having a GA and x rays etc I'm in a long term loving relationship and I havent told him yet, hell Ive only know for an hour! But I know he doesnt want children of his own, he gets on great with my 12 yr old and his 3 neices/nephews he adores and vice versa. I'm terrified. And I dont know what to do. I'm semi convinced the 2 tests must be wrong, but I'm a scientist by trade, and I know they are correct.

Hey all, no I wasnt tested before the surgery, we were all asked if we could be pregnant. We all said no, I have PCOS so I couldnt possibly be pregnant. And I didn't think I was at all. Yes I have had sex since surgery, but I havent had a period since end of Feb so that would equate to around 7 weeks gestation, going by the first day of my last period. I don't normally skips periods, they tend to vary though. We dont have such a thing as an OBGYN to go see (I'm in the UK), we have to go through the general doctors surgery, the pregnancy has to be confirmed and you go for there. I called yesterday but they can't fit me in yet.

Hi Shoes, I don't know. We've always said we werent arsed about having our own baby, we're both in our late 30's! I once said I liked the idea of it but essentially that I wouldnt want to go through a preganacy. Bugger that. I feel that I don't want to have an abortion, I know that my partner would chose this option if it were up to him. But I dont think I do. So that leaves me thinking, do I want this baby? Half of me says yes, it's happend for a reason and the other half of me still doesnt believe it despite 2 +ve tests, I'm half convinced I have a dodgy batch. I just keep sitting here bawling. My boy will be home from school in 10minutes so I need to get it together before he comes home, my man isnt home till late evening. But knowing what an emotional bloke he is, he wont get sod all done at work anyway. Im terrifed right now. I really am. -

Blimey what did I do wrong? Did I upset you or something? I think I would probably get a fill now if I was allowed one, but I doubt they would. I think I have healed well, and a lot quicker than I thought I would. I think quitting smoking helped a lot too. -

Julie, I just checked, it's an hour and 10 mins - Ostende to Vilvoorde. Dead quick, hubby hasnt anything to moan at there becuase it isnt a long journey x edit/dont fo0rget to let your car insurance people know you are going out of the UK, they will just post you the EU insurance docs, there shouldnt be a charge or anything. Also by law you must have certain things in your car; ie a fire extinguisher etc - cars do regularly get checked so be aware hun.
