had my first follow up appt yesterday and the doc said that everything looked good. I lost 5 1/2 pounds since my last visit and we were both pleased with that. I was having trouble wih my port "feeling strange or twisted", but he assured me that the port was right where it was supposed to be.... wheww.... Thanks for asking, Melody. Hope your weekend was nice!!

Just wondering if it is normal for your stomach to be swollen 5 days postop. My pants are tighter on my stomach than they were before (oh no).

I'm 6 days postop and this is the strangest feeling. was like this from the beginning and i thought it would have gone away by now. the only incision that is sore is the port site. i take that back...the incision is fine..... the feeling is from the port itself....its the strangest feeling....not really pain, but it feels like the port is "loose". when i walk, i have to hold my right side with either the pillow or with my hand. like i have to put pressure on it. it's hard to explain....just strange. anyone experience anything like this?

wow..just stopped in before going to bed and i cant believe all the replies... i have a doc appt at 130 tomorrow, so will hopefully find out whats going on. Ill let you know. I did "try to roll over" on the night i came home from the hospital and that was definitely a no-no! the girdle thingie sounds like a good idea! I must admit that it did feel somewhat better today. thanks for all the support guys!!

Hi , Everyone, I'm a newbie

Hi. I had hiatal hernia repaired at same time as the band. Im not sure if that is contributing to the soreness or not. the only thing that is bothering me is the port incision soreness and tenderness. I still need my trusty pillow to hold when i walk, or even just press my hand there. Try not to worry.... my doc told me that repairing the hernia helps prevent the band from slipping. Hope that helps. -
PB: "productive burp" -- what happens when something eaten can't go down due to restriction has to come back up. I am only 5 days postop and i havent had the pleasure yet, but it doesnt sound very nice. Im sure there are many others who can help you with their experiences!

I'd love to see improvement in my high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and hopefully my asthma. I'd also love to put on a bathing suit (I have a pool in the yard that i havent been in for years) and just do all the things that my weight has prevented me from doing. -
Just to say hello to everyone. I was banded in Atlantic City, New Jersey by Dr. Onopchenko on Wednesday, May 24. Surgery went well, but had a hiatal hernia which Dr. O repaired at the same time as the band. I feel pretty good, but port incision is still quite sore. Im sure I'll be having lots of questions. This looks like a great place to find answers!

Hi, Alexandra.. I'm from souhern NJ. I have Horizon Direct insurance and they were no problem at all. It took only a few days after all my testing was done to get an approval. The doctor's office took care of everything! did you have any problems?

Hi. Was banded on 5/24 in Atlantic City, NJ. All went well, but had to have hiatal hernia repaired. Port site still pretty sore. Today started moving from clear liquids to full liquids, including cream of wheat and chocolate protein shakes, and cream of chicken soup. It was a nice change.
