For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY

I'm at 10 for an 11 cc band. I'm restricted and very, very slowly losing. 14 pounds since May! What happens when I go in for a fill and I'm initially tight but then it gets loose and I have no more fills. Have I spent 15K on a failure? Am I the only one who fails?
  2. Located in Bergen Cty. Paskack. Dr. Davis's office is on the campus. (Luckow Pavillion). They are the best!

For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY

I just came in from the surgeon's office. I love this guy! (Dr. Davis at Valley Hospital) I make an appointment and with in a few days I get an adjustment, unlimited counseling and friendly but professional faces. ($80.00) I am now at 10cc. Time will tell. I have the Nurse Practitioners phone number for 24x7 contact. They really care about me and my success.

I am so surprised at the cost of fills I am seeing on this site. My surgeon's nurse practitioner does them in the office in 5 minutes for $80.00. I am going in tomorrow for another fill. I have 9cc in and I'm hoping for 1 more cc. He might want to give 2 cc but I think that will be too tight.
  5. I had a great experience with Dr. Davis at Valley hospital. He normally practices in NY Columbia University. 201-634-5500. He was recomended to me by several other bariatric surgeons as the best guy in NJ. He and his entire staff were fantastic and he was able to see me and schedule surgery in a timely maner. I liked him much better than Abkin and Bertha who do 20-25 surgeries a week. Too much like a factory for me. I want my surgeon to know who I am. His nurse practitioner gave me his cell phone so I could reach him 24-7. The best.

I too have an 11 cc band. I thought I was going crazy because I have 9 cc in and I'm just starting to lose weight. Place May 26, 06. Now I am begining to understand I am not alone!
  7. I am new to this site and I was hoping to find some compadres out there who have had similar experiences. I had gastric bypass in 1998 when I was 365lbs. I lost about 140-150 lbs. and I was not thin but I was comfortable and very happy. In 2002 I was under extream stress and I was depressed. I began to be able to eat more and although I was frightened I couldn't seem to find a way to stop it. After extensive research I chose to have a band over my bypass and I had surgery May 26, 2006. I paid 15K in cash. I weighed 283lbs. Since then I have had multiple fills to my 11cc band curently I have 9cc in and I am down about 10lbs. SINCE MAY! When I get a fill my band is so tight I can barely get down anything solid. Over the following several weeks it gets a little better. Now I feel restriction (tighter in the morning than at night) but I'm pretty good at night. I think I'm eating much less and certainly smaller meals. I am focused on eating meals and not snacking. I do have approximately 2-3 caloried drinks a week (alcohol). NO ice cream or crunchy snacks. My real question is...how little to I have to eat to lose weight? Has anyone else out there had a band over bypass. Should I just have them close my stomach off and live on protein shakes? I eat lunch each day at work with a great group of girls...At least once a week I have to run from the table because food gets stuck and I have to throw up. Breakfast I have cereal or egg w/ 1 piece of toast. Lunch 1/2 sandwich and small soup. Dinner a small solid meal. 100 calorie popcorn at night. Any help out there?

    protien shakes

8 oz. milk (skim, 1% or Lactaid-whatever you prefer) add 2-3 servings of egg beaters or powdered albumin protein from the health food store. Flavor extracts and artificial sweetener. You could even flavor with a little fruit. Mix it up in blender with ice. I guarantee it will be the best tasting and the least expensive protien shake you will try. :grouphug:

    Pre-op -- May 25, 2006 Nervous

I had my band placed yesterday. I was in the OR at 8 AM and home by 4PM. My throat is sore. I have already watched TV while laying on my stomach. It was one of many major abdominal surgeries for me and I have to say one of the easiest. I am tolerating my liquid diet and I am not hungry. I'm drowsy and I am taking a pain pill about every 4-5 hours. Mostly because my throat hurts so much. Good luck to you. Hang in there. My insurance didn't approve. I paid $15,000.00. If I am successful it will be money very well spent. :grouphug:
