Jay Robb Protein Drinks?? Anyone tried??
lachdanon replied to 303'sJourney's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi there, I tried the chocolate flavor when I ran out of my normal one. It took a little while to get used to the flavor but it wasn't bad. They sell his products at Kroger (my local grocery store). For the price its wasnt bad -
Hi there, I've not tried their Protein stuff, but I do use their Vitamins and Calcium products. Very good and has everything that we band patients require. vitamins and calcium are very good. I get the wild cherry calcium and the berry flavored vitamins. So far as Protein shakes go, I get unjury. Check them out aUNJURY Medical Quality whey Protein Isolate. Great Tasting Whey Protein supplements for Everyday Health! High Protein and High Quality.I really like the flavors but you don't get a lot so I may be trying some of the nectar brands. I hear they taste pretty good. Hope that helps. Craig

I had the same thing happen to me twice! for my first fill the physicians assistant couldn't find the port and stuck me about 4 times. I was not happy and I don't handle pain well. They said I must have been to inflamed from the operation still. I was banded in mid april. Came back two weeks later same situation. Today went back and they sent me for an x-ray and found out that my port was slightly off center. so the moved it as best as they could then numbed me with something (cant remember the name. Best thing ever created! they were able to give me my first fill 6 weeks after my operation. I would certainly recommend getting the numbing after having your x-ray. After your fill at least for me, I am on a liquid diet today. mushys tomorrow and solids again by Sunday. I can relate to being scared about it, but once they numb you and the needle is small. You will not feel a thing. I know I am a big chicken Hope that helps =) Craig

just getting started but I am trying... I was able to do a little more than a mile this past Sunday but have been able to do half a mile and that is getting easier. I have to push myself to go for that other half mile and I am hoping to eventually get to where the rest of you guys are =)

Sounds good everyone. I am going to challenge myself and walk 3 times a week for a full 30 min.

HI there SteveF - Yes it is going so far pretty well for me. I have been exercising but not as much as I should. Currently only a few times a week but my energy is so much higher than it was even a month ago. As of right now I am only able to walk. A month ago I wouldn't have believed that I would feel this good. I think you are right the weight will slow down for us until we get our first fill. I am due to get mine on the 15th. I am looking forward to it  What exercising are you currently doing? How are you feeling? It looks like we were banded just a few days apart =) Craig

How many calories a day do you eat?
lachdanon replied to Sammysue78's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Getting ready to start week 3 post-op, still doing a lot of mushies but some occasional meat etc. I am doing about 600 to 1000 calories a day at this point. I track everything on the daily plate. When I get close to a 1000 calories a day I can tell. It feels like I've been grazing all day! My doctor gave me a huge binder before surgery that they give to everyone and I've really been trying to stick to it. So far I think I have lost a good amount of weight and want to keep losing. To date I've lost about 41 lbs since starting my pre-op diet then starting the 3rd week post op =) Craig -
Banded on April 14th and feeling fine =) Think it was one of the best choices I've made in my life. Craig

Congrats on getting into the 2's =) I am so looking forward to getting there.

Hi there everyone. I was banded on the 14th and everything went very well. No pain just the typical gas that everyone gets. I wanted to reply to Help1977 - I felt the exact same way that you did and didnt want to even look at food. It does get better. I was doubtful at first but after about 4 days. everything was much better. I was off my pain meds on the 4th day. Looking forward to hear how you and everyone else that was banded is doing. What a wonderful gift we've been given huh =)

It's a great tool! I cant imagine not using it. I track not only what I eat but my exercise too and weight loss. Truly a great app. Craig

I have an iphone too and use an app called the daily plate. They have the app for blackberries and the iphone. I love it and use it daily. Try it out =) Craig

Today was a better mental day for me. Like a fool though i forgot my lunch. I went to burger king and was so tempted to get a whopper there but I didn't. I bought the garden salad, and asked for fat free honey dijon. They put in the regular. I know I cheated by putting that on there, but I feel much better that I didn't get a whopper =) Yahoo to small miracles. next tues I go in for my band. I am looking forward to this change. Craig

I can so relate to that  It has to get better though.
-
Moonbeam I can totally relate to what you are talking about I am on day 8 myself and I really want something. i've only cheated one a few days ago with 4oz of chicken and felt horrible even after that small amount. Lingling - What are these "ketones" that you are referring to? Like you I've been having salads. Only a cup with fat free italian. pre op diet says I can have it. just struggling with the mental aspect of this. Craig

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
lachdanon replied to crystalcml's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm on day 8 of my pre op diet. Its supposed to be liquid diet but on the foods I am allowed to eat I can have 1 cup of salad with fat free dressing. I have cheated once and I had 4oz of chicken. I feel like a failure and I keep thinking of food all the time. I would kill for some wings or a burger. This food addiction this is rough. My date is 4/14/09 and I am hoping I can stay with this without going off the wagon again. The mental hunger is the worst I tell you. I am so happy for those people that haven't cheated. I wish I could be like that. I just want to be able to get my bad and for the mental hunger to go away. Thanks for listening to my ranting and freaking out :smile2: Craig -
Gross, but I have to warn you...

DolphinSue Welcome to the forum =) You are about to begin a very exciting period of your life. I know exactly what you mean about being reborn. I feel the same way when I think about what the operation will do for me too. You will find a ton of great information here and wonderful people to guide you through the process. The 6 month period will go before you know it. Have a great day and welcome to the forums =) Craig

Lingling I would imagine that being so close to your rebirth is a scary experience but you are going to be just fine. You are going to a reputable doctor and many thousands of others have gone through what you are about to and have been fine. I am pre op myself and will be going in April. You can and will and most importantly deserve to be thin. I know that I will be freaking out closer to my date 4/14 but I will be trying to focus on the positives of this. You mentioned some of them in your post and those are the things to keep you going as well as the support from the folks here at this wonderful site and your personal family and friends. You will do great and I cant wait to read about your success =) Craig
