  1. What timing you have! I had NO INTENTIONS of telling anyone other than my parents and hubby, but for some unknown, moronic reason I mentioned it at lunch to some co-workers. You would've thought I was telling them that I met some guy and was considering having an affair by the look on their faces!!! Then another girl who would be a lap band candidate like me proceeded to tell me how everyone she knew that had it gained all their weight back. At then end they through in the obligatory, "Well, if that's what you want, then good luck." It was actually quite sad that they couldn't be happy for me... and I am still in the early stages of planning (still waiting for my appointment to be finalized for pre-op testing). Thank heavens I am not one to give two hoots what anyone else thinks. Some people are just miserable. My recommendation- keep your mouth shut; I wish I had.
  2. I teach 7th grade and anyone who is a teacher knows, taking time off of work is a nightmare. I've been teaching for 7 years but I'm new to this district and try to avoid missing any days. When I spoke with my doctor he said I wouldn't be able to lift my son (he's 7 months old) for a solid 2 weeks. My intent was to wait until the summer for my surgery so I didn't have to take any time off of work, but then my little one will be home with me all day. So my question is, what is a REALISTIC amount of time to take off of work? Is this something I could squeeze in over the long weekend of Easter break (operate Thursday and back to work Tuesday)? I have no intentions of telling my principal or any coworkers of my surgery. I need to make a decision ASAP. HELP!!!

    6 month supervised diet

I am at the same numbers but the possibility of a 6 month diet was not mentioned in my consult. I am awaiting my appointment date for pre-op testing. What insurance do you guys have? I have Personal Choice... I pray to God I don't have to go through this!!!
  4. Just wondering what they ask in a psych eval--- I don't want to say the wrong thing and get declined over something random. Has anyone out there been rejected after one?
  5. I won't miss... - My legs rubbing together - Wearing pants in the summer - Ugly, old lady bras and underwear - Never being able to wear tank tops because it just looks awful - Wearing frumpy clothes (not because I have bad fashion sense, but because somehow designers get less creative when it comes to large sizes) - Feeling like an ogre in a room full of 5' nothing, 110 lb in-laws - Looking like a pin head because my head just looks to small when my body is so big - Man hands - Looking like I am drilling for oil whenever I wear heels - Staying indoors all summer when I'd rather be swimming biking, walking, etc. - Looking old when I am only 28!!!
  6. I noticed you are a teacher like me. How much time did you take off of work? I am hoping I could squeeze this in over Easter break (off Thursday through Monday- go back Tuesday). Otherwise I have to wait until summer. What do you think?
