I need advice, please share yours.....

As many have said before, this is truly a decision for both you and your husband to make. With this economy, jobs with benefits are not just falling from the sky. I would definitley pray about it. Maybe it is already a sign that you should wait. I hope that everything works out.
  2. LMAO @ Sandiego! I do not offend easily myself, but that billboard SUCKS! It would be nice to know exactly how many people went to those doctors after they saw that billboard. I am sure they were pi$$ed when they found out you can't take bites like that after you get banded. So maybe you can hit them with false advertisement ;o)

    Guilty Of Night Eating Also

OMG!!! I just knew that I was the only person in the world with this issue. It is such a relief to know that I am not alone. If anyone finds the solution, please let me know. I know its a bad habit, like biting your nails, but how do you "break" it?

    I need help PleasE :o(

WOW!!! You all have really touched me! I love to read posts where everyone is planting seeds of hope, not dispair. I am starting the battle of losing about 120 pounds, and it is moving to hear such positive comments. I have never been one to seek instant gratification, so as long as I can see the light at the end of the tunnel... I am good! The light in this situation is being able to fit into a plane seat so that I can fly and visit my grandmother before she passes away. Thanks for sharing!
  5. Personally I chose to do LB because I did not want to deal with all of the side effects of GB. I know people who have done LB and others that have done GB, and they are all relatively happy. It is a personal and sometimes monetary decision (because of ins, and finances) that you have to make. ma - all I can say is to be supportive and offer help in any way that you can.
  6. Thanks to everyone that responded! I can't wait to be a loser too!!!!
  7. Hey Guys! I am hoping to get banded in July 2009  and was wondering about the extra skin that may be there once I lose the weight. My surgeon said that because I am still fairly young, my skin still has elasticity in it and should conform to my "new body" fairly well. So I guess my question is whether there is anything that I can do to aid in my skin "re-shaping" itself once I have the band. Should I wear a full body girdle, corset, etc? Also if you know of something that helps to fade stretch marks I would love to know about that too. Thanks for helping!
  8. I need to lose like 120lbs. You lost quite a bit, CONGRATS! What did you do about it? I plan on exercising and weight training. I am by no means looking to get a six pack, just would like to tone as much as possible. I know that there will be some degree of excess skin, but I would like to re-shape as much as possible without getting plastic surgery. Thanks!

    Lost...

I decided to have the surgery, then I started reading some of the posts and became terrified, and now I am simply confused. I have decided not to tell people except for a few close friends and my family. I have failed at so many diets, that I am afraid that this won't work either. I read about bands slipping, some people had to have their bands removed, and other issues that scare me. One good thing is to read messages from people like you all... You are a blessing to those of us in need!
  10. Hi! I have decided to get banded and I have discussed it with my husband in length. Since our discussion, we have coincidently seen several TV shows depicting women that have had some sort of bariatric surgery and went on a new found quest to seek attraction from men outside of their marriage. Now my husband is afraid that this will happen to me and our marriage will be ruined. I have tried to reassure him on several occasions that this will not happen to me, but he is not convinced. I have never had any self esteem issues due to my weight, and have always thought very highly of myself, so I do not forsee any issues, yet I am beginning to see this phenomena happening with alot of women that have had weight loss surgery. Needless to say, his fears are increasing. Any advice about what I should do? When the physical transformation happens, do you go through a mental transformation also? Just looking for your thoughts. Thanks for listening!

    Hello!

I am new to the site and am interested in getting banded. I have just began the process, and I have my first appointment with my surgeon on Thursday, March 5, 2009. I am nervous, excited, scared, and curious all at the same time. I know that I am going to have the surgery, its just thet I must jump through all of the insurance hoops first. My surgeon is Dr. Dexter Turnquest.
  13. I have only told my husband, a friend who has had gastric bypass, and two of my co-workers (whom are also getting banded). I have always been one to not give a d@*! about what anyone has to say about me and/or my decisions, but to avoid all of the DRAMA, I have chosen to keep quiet. I know that once I have the surgery, and my weight begins to decline, I will be faced with numerous questions. I am a teacher, and my colleagues are VERY nosy to say the least, so I have decided to tell them that I "have changed my eating habits and I am working out on a regular basis". I am not being dishonest... just leaving the Lap-Band out of the story. I figure since their not paying for it, it is not any of their concern. If I need support, this is a place that I know I can come to with no negative comments about my decision.
