  2. Happy 36th Birthday hally!

  3. Hi pharmagirl, i hope your surgery goes well. You are in great hands, im a nurse myself and i found the care top notch. It was like a hotel!! Today is day 6 and im doing well. The first few days were tough, couldnt get comfortable anywhere!! I have developed the shoulder tip pain at about day 3!! I thought it was gunna skip me altogether, but i was not that lucky!! By day 5 i didnt need any pain killers which was good. Im just starting to get more mobile and do a bit more for myself. My husband has been great he has stayed at home for the week with me, to run the kids to school, cook, washing etc etc. Im hoping to start walking on Monday. Ive lost about 4.5kg which is good. My starting weight was 105.5kg. Wishing you all the best on your recovery. Hope to talk to u soon. Cheers Sam:smile::rolleyes2::smile::tongue::smile::tt1::smile:

  5. Hi Nene, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog and your journey. Iam really enjoying this forum and i think it will become agreat resource in this new process of being banded!! My kids are 7 and 5 My daughter Madeline is 7 and my son Brayden is 5. My husband has been awesome. I do have private health, but he is even selling some of his cattle to raise the money needed for the out of pocket expenses!! Mine are about $3500 even with private health cover. We live on a 20 acre property in rural victoria, Australia. My starting weight is 102.6 and i am 157 cm (yeah im a short arse!!) Cheers Sam:thumbup:

I am really loving this forum, its great to share advice, stories and success (hopefully) with others. New to this!!!!

I know when i got my surgery date last week i started to second guess myself to!! Iam scheduled for the 17th of April 2009. I totally get where your head is at. I kept thinking am i doing the right thing, can i justify the money, surely i can do this by myself cant I?? Then i took a good look at where iam at. Iam doing the right thing cos its time for me to be the real me, I can justify the money because if i develop a chronic disease like diabetes, sleep apnea, heart disease then the cost will be outrageous over my life span. And i know i cant do this by myself cos i have tried and failed and suceeded so many times. The lap band is a tool that will set me up for life. It is a long term process that will enable me to loose weight and maintain it. Not put it all back on again when i start to get lazy again and not exercise. I know you are doing the right thing. I have now moved past the self doubt and have embraced the thought of a new me!! All the best. Sam:thumbup:
  8. Hi Nene, Im hoping this forum will become a great tool to help me talk about this process of banding. My starting weight is 102.7 kg and Iam 157cm. I know im overweight but i was shocked to find out that my BMI puts me in the morbidly obese catergory!! That blew my mind. Congrats on the wonderful weight loss you have already achieved. Im a nurse and i know to much sometimes!! The pain after the surgery scares the hell out of me. How lond did you take to recover? My husband is going to take a week off so he can help with the kids etc. Hope to talk to you soon. Sam
  9. Hi my name is Samantha iam 33 and i am a mother of two beautiful children who are 7 and 5. I have a wonderful husband who is very supportive of my decision to have Lap Band surgery. I am booked in for surgery on the 17th of April at the Avenue Hospital in Melbourne. My surgeoun is Mr Paul Burton. I have decided that this year is my year and it's time to focus alot of my energy on myself. For so many years I have put everyone else's needs before my own, but this year iam taking control of my weight so i can truly become the person i want to be. Bye for now:tongue2:
