LOL. I need to get some healthier cookbooks. I have a couple, but most are norweigen, and there is alot of lard and all in those recipes lol. I am feeling better, well, actually it is the pain meds, haha. If I don't take the pain meds I still have alot of pain, so my husband has a alarm set for every 4 hours so I will take my meds. I feel like I want to sleep all the time with the meds, so hey, if it takes my mind away from the pain I will do it. That is awsome we had surgery one day apart.

LOL. It is the best feeling to have your husband or mate as your number one supporter. I am not sure how I would be doing if he wasn't my biggest supporter. He even went on the pre-op diet with me to help me stick to it  Him and our 3 year old son do everything they can to support me. They will eat what I have to eat and all, so they ain't eating a bunch of stuff in front of me. My son will choose a yogurt instead of mac and cheese when I have to cook so he can eat what I eat. Well, sorry to ramble.

Thanks, That's great you only have had a sore throat and cough, (well from my perspective anyway,). I am very glad I did it too, I just knew I should of waited a couple more weeks to get it done so both surgeries wasn't so close. I wouldn't be going through all this pain. But I just wouldn't listen to my husband, errr. LOL. It is so worth it. I can't wait til I recover all the way and can really get back to the gym.

My nutricionist told me about Hummus, she said to back some cut up in strips low carb tortillas in a 350 degree oven on a lightly pam sprayed pan until the tortillas are slightly golden to golden brown, makes your own homemade chips to enjoy with your Hummus. They are great, I even done it with the spinach wraps.

So I went to the dr today, thank goodness there is nothing seriously wrong, I am just taking longer to heal then normal, I guess 2 surgeries within a couple weeks isn't a good idea. That was a big relief off of me and my husband today, I guess it gives me another week of reasons to be in bed, LOL. I got a great husband, he was so worried and going nuts trying to figure out what was going on. Well, off to bed I am, thought I would just put a update. Oh yea, anyone got any awsome pureed food recipes you can pass this way I would love it. Mandie.

I contacted my surgeons office this afternoon and the nurse said that the surgeon was in surgery all day, but would page her and see what she says, so a couple hours later Erin calls me back, she said that the dr said I just had surgery and it will get better, well, no f'n kidding I just had surgery. She also said if I don't feel any better to come in first thing in the morning, well, that is what I am going to do just to be safe and see the dr for myself. This pain I am having I don't think it is normal. So off to the surgeons office first thing in the morning.

Need advice. I was banded on the 17th with the Realize Band, it is now almost a week later, I have a mass pain on my right side all the time, when I go from laying down to sitting up it's like a major pains in my stomach and along my right side, when I go from sitting up to standing up it is like I have to do it bent forward very slowly to get myself all the way up, there is still alot of pain when I do that, but not as much as there would be if I was to stand up in a hurry. Has anyone else experienced this? It hurts to walk or anything, but it is almost a week out and I have been reading most of these pains should be gone by now. Mandie

Ahh, I see, I was like in a dumbfound when I read you have plastic tomorow. That's great to get it all done at once. Mandie

Dr. Nicole White - She is wonderful!
Mandie replied to super_chili's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Every dr is different on what they require. I have very good insurance and relaxed insurance, so I didn't have to go through none of the pre-surgery diets, except the 2 week pre-op diet to shrink the liver, I lost 14lbs on the diet, yay. It mostly depends on your insurance co is what needs to happen. There are some standard testings that has to happen to make sure you are upto the surgery and after the surgery. Dr. White is a GREAT dr. I recommend her. She is there for you wether you got a small or big question, her staff is great, they know you by name, most of the staff when you talk to them seems like you known them forever how they make you feel. She is a great dr and her staff is just as great. Mandie -
Thanks, I keep walking, and it works. What do you mean after the plastics tomorow? Mandie

The dr gave me some liquid oxycode for the pain with some nasue pill as oxycode makes me sick, nice. I had the gas pain so bad yesterday it had me in tears, nothing was helping. I used like 3 gas x strips. It started in my tummy which I never get the gas like that, I usually have some gurbling then use a gas x, but this started going up my back then into my shoulder to the point I couldn't move my arm. It was so much pain. It last about 2 hours. I hated it. I have to sleep on my right side with a pillow under my left side to help support my left side or I am so uncofortable it hurts too much. I can't wait to be able to sleep on my left side and tummy again. I so know how walking and deep breathing helps, it has helped me alot. Well, got to get things done hopefully. Got alot of pain right now in the port site. Mandie.

Thanks, I am doing good, I have quite a bit of pain, well, I don't want to keep taking the pain meds, but when I don't I have alot of pain. How long have you taken off work? My port incision is really sore, I am not sure why it is worse then the others, the incision and right around it, I thought they put the port alittle aways from the incision? I'm not sure. I can't wait to get back in the pool. I miss swimming. I have been out of commision on it for over a month as I had 2 surgeries this month and really knocked me out of commision. I am doing good on the diet. I am surprised. Although I can't find a protien shack I can tolerate though. I don't know how many my husband has bought and I cant stomach. What type type of vitamins are you taking? Mandie

I was discharged the same day actually, we watched Wheel of Fortune in the hospital then got discharged. So far this is day 2, I have really had no gas pains, I have some gurgling in my stomach that tickles a bit. I thought it was because I was hungry, but sometimes it was getting gas out. My husband had me Gas X on hand so I can take it when the gurgling started. This morning when I got out of bed was the easiest yet. I had so much pain and the pain meds didn't kick in right away after I took it this time, so in the time waiting for it to kick in me and my husband went to walmart at 4am. LOL. Things for me has been going smooth. I am drinking alot of Crystal Light, Gatorade, I have ate broth, jello and applesauce and sugar free popcycles. All in all I think it is going to be a easy recovery. I just hate the part I can't walk too much as on the 2nd of this month I had surgery on my achelis tendon and in walking boot. But all in all it will be a great recover I forsee. Sorry about banter on.

Thank you so much, it went great. I am so looking forward to my new life journey, I wish you luck on yours. Mandie

YAY!, I did it, lol. when we got to the hospital my white blood cells was back down to normal, when I we first got there I was so nervous, my husband is such a great support, he helped me relax so much, then when I got into the pre-surgical area, it seemed like all the nervousness went away and reality hit. So it all went good all in all. My dr was running a hour behind so my 1:20 surgery went to walking in the surgery room at 2:39. So that's not bad, recovery was great. I am quite sore this morning, but mostly where just the port is. So with ice and pain meds it will feel better soon, lol. I am so glad I am on to the new me and new life journey. Great luck to anyone having the surgery. It is a new journey.

LOL ddorman67. I hate counting the hours. Well, we are off to drop the boy off at Gammas and Gappas, then off to the hospital. I will post how it went later or tomorow.
-
Updegraff, no temp, thank goodness. Two hours before I leave, I am getting impatient. Lol.
-
Updegraff, thanks. I am so excited right now, but also so nervous. I am worried about the dr sending me home with a rescheduled surgery for being sick. Yuk. I feel like I am sitting here twiddling my thumbs waiting for time to pass to leave. Lol.
-
Thanks, I have to check it at 11:20am, and the surgery will be approx 2 hours from then, but it could be sooner or alittle bit later. I hate late check ins. I am trying to keep positive thoughts. I am so nervous about the surgery and now getting sick don't make it no better. I have alot of confidence in my dr so I know it will go ok and be ok.
-
Thanks, it's not Thrush. I think I am catching something, but my dr really thinks it's allergies, I know my body, so we will see tomorow when she takes the blood to check the white cells. I just hope and pray that the surgery don't have to be rescheduled. My husband has been counting the days down for me. Lol. All I can do it wait and see what happens tomorow. Yuk.
-
Thanks, I called the dr, she said that it should be ok, she will draw blood when I get to the hospital tomorow to make sure my white cell count is ok. She said lets hope it's allergies, I know it's not though. The dr don't want to have to reschedule the surgery as this is the first Realize Band she is going to be doing, so she has to have a extra big team and a few special people be there tomorow, so rescheduling is not going to be easy. The dr told me to drink alot of gatorade, I thought gatorade has alot of sugar, don't that defeat the purpose of the 2 week diet then?
-
I am scheduled to have surgery tomorow and woke up sick (sore throat, runny nose) this morning. I don't know wether I should call the dr about it or not. I don't want to do nothing that is going to jeopordize the surgery, but I don't want to get to the hosp and then get told I have to reschedule. Do I just tuff it out hoping I will feel better tomorow morning or call the dr today? This is so disappointing.
-
I was wondering the same thing. I am having surgery on the 17th for the Realize Band, I just had surgery 2 weeks ago on my leg and was told to keep on my underwear and bra. I am also wondering about body peircings, my dr didn't say anything about it when I asked and forgot to reask. I didn't have to take it out when I had my leg surgery, so I don't see why this one would be any diff as it isn't a stand out there peircing.

Lulu, I was also wondering if you could post the recipe, it sure does sound delicious.
