Hey everyone - checking in... Got on the scale this morning and at the begining of my TOM I'm down 2lbs. I had been up about 4, but since my fill, I'm down those 4 plus another 2. I had DH get a few more tops out of my "some day bin" and I got two pairs of pants in a 2X. Congrats on the NSV, VLP! NSV means "non scale victory" and that's exactly what you had with the clothes fitting. Jessica - nice to see you here! Since we were banded the same day, it's nice to hear from you I am still having my Slim Fast shakes once or twice a day because I really like them. I eat about 4 heaping tsps of cottage cheese and a snack cup of diced peaches for lunch, or soup; and then for dinner I have some chicken or other protein meat and some veggie. My band is at 8cc's, so I don't take in much, but that's the way I wanted it. Keep us posted on how you're doing. Beth - I can't believe you watched that much football!! The drink you found sounds yummy...I've never heard of it. I still don't know why you have problems keeping your food down...when is your next appt? Well, after a nice long weekend (no work/school Wed - Fri and then the weekend) it's back to work tomorrow. I'm going to get out the holiday decorations and decorate my office. Hopefully the kids are healthier coming back to school as we had a lot of sick kids before the break. Have a great night!

What do you say when you get THAT question??
ericsmom replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I tell them I had the lap band surgery, too. Everyone at work knows I had it and they are all very supportive. There are now 4 people banded who work at the school I work at - 1 before me and 2 since me. I'm mentoring the two that went after me. I've had the same experience as Carlene. It's a wonderful thing! -
What size band do you have and what amount of fill do you have?
ericsmom replied to shell04937's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a VG band that holds 10cc's and I am at 8cc's right now. It's pretty tight, especially in the morning. I'm thinking this is a good restriction for me right now. -
How much can you eat.....
ericsmom replied to cher3150's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a Slim Fast Shake with added protein powder for breakfast...4 heaping teaspoons of cottage cheese and a snack cup of diced peaches for lunch (typically) and about 1 cup of food if I eat a regular dinner. I eat string cheese if I want a snack. I eat chicken, fish, steak, hamburger, ham, or turkey for dinner with a veggie. I love my shakes and make them in my Magic Bullet...if I'm home alone for dinner, I'll have a shake then, too. -
Welcome to LBT! My experience has been absolutely text book - good luck to you!

I have chosen to not give it a try...I don't want to take the chance of it getting stuck. I love to smell it, though!!

I Hope Im Doing The Right Thing, having Lap Band Sugery?
ericsmom replied to MELANIE's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am sure we were all nervous as our surgery times grew nearer...however, once you have it done you'll wonder what you were afraid of. It was and is the best thing I've ever done for myself and I am thankful daily for this tool...you'll do great and we'll all be here for you. Keep us posted and good luck! -
Finally able to check in...Thanksgiving was very nice with my family. I ate a bit of turkey, some stuffing with wild rice in it, and rutabegas with butter on them (my favorite). I also had a piece of French Silk pie with a bit of ice cream. I let myself and told myself not to feel guilty. Back on liquids part of the day today...I don't want to get in the habit of having so much food...even though I know it wasn't a lot, it seemed like it to me. Sounds like everyone had a great day. I'm weighing tomorrow to see what the damage is.

Happy Turkey Day to all LBTers
ericsmom replied to NowNotSoBigGuy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was thinking the same thing this morning. I'm pretty tight, so I won't be eating much and I'm okay with that. I, too, am so thankful for this online community...you've been very instrumental in my journey thus far. Happ Thanksgiving everyone! -
Mine does it completely by feel - I get ladicain to numb the area first, though...I figure if it's the worst I have to go through for these results, I'm fine with it. I think they use the flouro as a last resort at my clinic.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my LBT friends! I won't be eating very much as I am VERY tight...thanks for the reminder, Kari! I need to chew, chew, chew!! I am so thankful for this online community of friends!

Go for it, Chris! What a great opportunity to talk about what a positive thing this was for you! And the exposure for you may lead to other things  I'm so proud of you! Congrats on all of your success! And a July Bandster to boot!!

OMG Sherri! I hope you are doing better today! I knew someone who had stones once and I remember her saying how extremely painful it was. Please take care of yourself and take it easy...take care of you! {{{HUGS}}}

Hello everyone! Just checking in in between cleaning...my aunt will be here in a couple of hours. Everyone else comes tomorrow morning. I won't be able to eat much...I am REALLY tight! But that's the way I wanted it. It's not all about the food, right? I have some 4X tops that I could send someone who is starting the journey. A swap would be good...I hate to just drop them off somewhere and never know if anyone is getting good use out of my clothes. Well, I'm going to get back to work. Have a great day!

Checking in before I go to bed...my review wasn't really a review...my boss had to go to a meeting. He had the form up on his laptop and he told me he was updating the comments and that some of the numbers would be bumped from 3's to 4's...he told me to go ahead and type my comments in my area and we'd get it signed, etc. tomorrow. Needless to say, it was good from what I saw because my first review back in June was awesome and he said that this one would be even better I had some ice cream tonight and it was really good...{self-talk - I will not feel guilty, I will not feel guilty, I will not feel guilty} Have a good night!

Checking in to say good morning...I am sitting here enjoying my shake waiting for DS to get done in the shower. I have to have a review today as my probation is up at my job on Wednesday. I was hired August of 2004, and had to serve 12 mo. of probation, but because we don't work in the summer, it didn't end until Nov. 22nd. I am happy because I get a raise, too! Well, DS is out now so I'm going to go finish up...have a great day and drink that water today!

Name 5 things that get you through the day
ericsmom replied to derbygirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
1) My place of employment - it's my saving grace...my support and encouragement comes from my co-workers - and my DH and DS 2) My Slim Fast shakes in my Magic Bullet 3) The Internet - LBT and Memory Creators (scrapbooking community) 4) Scrapbooking or something related to the hobby 5) Dasani water -
Maybe you'll find a date when you get to the party??!!!! Walk in with confidence - you'll look fabulous!

I just had my 4th fill...my first one was 3cc's and I felt restriction for only the first week...then a month later I got 2.5cc's and still wasn't satisfied with the restriction. A month later I got 1.5 more and felt pretty good restriction at 7cc's. I just got one more cc on last Friday and I'm feeling really restricted now... and I like it that way. Every person's different. I don't eat a lot, though. It depends on how big your band is to begin with, too. Mine holds 10cc's where others only hold 4. Talk with your doctor.

We have the traditional dinner for our area - turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and some sort of Jell-O salad. My mom makes rutabegas, too...I love them smothered in butter. I am at 8cc's in my 10cc band, so I won't be eating much, but I'm okay with that. I'll have a bit of dark meat, some stuffing and rutabega. I don't eat potatoes or bread anymore, but I'll have a bit of stuffing. I may have a small piece of pie, too, but I'll have to wait and see. It's interesting to hear what people eat for traditions.

Congrats on losing all those inches Mary! I regret that I never took measurements when I started this journey. I am surprised when I look down and see a much smaller roll laying on my thighs! I can't wait for the day when my stomach doesn't lay on my thighs anymore... I, too, am so thankful for you all...this community has been a saving grace and you are all so inspirational. Be thankful we have this opportunity for a new and healthier life!

Congrats on the HUGE NSV, Lapbandit!!! That is so AWESOME!! Be sure to post a picture of you in that dress so we can see how fabulous it looks on you!

Welcome to LBT! You will find it's a great place for support and advice and everything in between!! I, too, am a bit curious as to why you've chosen the band since your wife had the full GB... Good luck, too, to apinksoprano on your surgery tomorrow!

I just got another CC in my band on Friday, so I hope to be dropping my lbs to go very soon!
