I'm sorry to hear you're not doing well 2 days post op. I am just shocked at how each person's experience is so different than the next... I never had any problems at all...I have a prescription for sopositories for nausea and I should have waited to fill it, or not fill it as the case may be, as I didn't need them. At least I only paid $10 for the co-pay. I bought those Gas-X disolvable strips anticipating gas and non of that occurred either. I know the advice you're being given is good, and comes from experience, so hopefully their tips will help you.

I felt this way, too...I introduced very runny oatmeal or Cream of Wheat and I felt fine. My doctor said to introduce soft foods when I thought I could handle them, and it went well. There's nothing worse than a growling empty stomach that makes you nauseous. Yes, you did the right thing...just listen to your body and maybe try something. Not everyone is the same...

    Letter to all....from LOTSOFKIDS

Diane, I've only been here at LBT for a month or so...and so I don't think we've officially "met". I am so sorry to hear of your extreme situation and will put you on my prayer list...Please do take care of yourself.

    Eat more!!!

That's what I need to start increasing - my Water... Since I'm only 10 days out from getting my band, I guess I'm thinking I can't have that much water, but I'm thinking it's probably just the opposite. That will be a new goal this week...to increase my water

    FitDay.com Q & A

I checked out Spark People and got innundated with emails, so I stuck with Fit Day. It's doing just what I need it to do. Although, Spark People is a great resource.
  9. I had my surgery on the 5th. I had to do 2 weeks of liquids only prior to my surgery. My doc said it was to shrink my insides and my liver so that they could work in there with the probes better. I was told any weight loss was a bonus. I dropped 14.5 in those two weeks...it was a great jump start.

    Eat more!!!

I'm using Fit Day to track my intake and exercise...whoever thought this up is a genius!! I love that I can just go and click on what I ate and it calculates for me and the graph is great to visualize where I'm at. I think it's still too soon for me to see what the best numbers for me are, but it will help me figure it out
  11. Welcome Sharon and Good Luck to you, Michelle!!

    A nervous new member

the beauty of it is, if you have proper restriction, at least when you do turn to food as an emotional crutch, you will not be able to go overboard with your eating as the band will not let you. I totally agree with this...and speaking for myself, I already saw a therapist before I started my lap band journey and will continue to see her as I learn to live with my new tool and my new life.

    What is this I'm having????????

I haven't any idea what could be making you have that sensation when you eat your pudding. I haven't had any problems with any soft foods, so it's foreign to me. I guess I would call your doctor tomorrow.

I guess that's why i'm sort of afraid to start eating soft foods because i might not know when to stop or i'll only eat the wrong things. I was worried about the same thing...but you really CAN'T over eat...your stomach will tell you when to stop. Eat slowly so your brain can register that you're full. The band is at the top of your stomach for a reason - that's where the sensors of fullness are. As far as eating the wrong things, just watch your sugar intake and get your protein for the day and you'll be fine...and drink the water!! Day 9 and doin' fine

What is or was your "Last Meal"

I had 3 "last supper" dinners with friends before starting 2 weeks of liquids prior to surgery... I had DH take me out for a steak dinner at Applebees on 6/17. Then on 6/19 I had dinner at a local restaurant for their famous chicken tetrazzini on wild rice. Then on 6/20 I went to a local pub with a friend and had a good 'ol mushroom & swiss burger, no bun, extra shrooms and onion rings Started liquid 6/21.

    NSV! Someone noticed!

Congrats on the NSV!! I saw a friend today who saw me on surgery day and then again 3 days later. Today is 8 days out and she saw me this morning and said she could tell I'd lost. That was such a great feeling!!! I'm sure you were feeling quite proud as well! WTG!

I am an apple, I hate my chin!

I'm an apple as well. After only 21 lbs gone in the past 3 weeks, I am noticing it in my face first. That's always where I notice it first. Then the shelf on top of my butt goes a bit before my stomach...then they take turns for a while. My doc said I carry my weight the better way in the tummy, low, away from my heart rather than higher up. It just takes longer to get into smaller pants because of my belly. AArrrggghhhh.....it's so frustrating...

    July 2006 Band Crew

Hi all - just checking in. I continue to do extremely well. I have never had any of the gas pains some of you speak of, so I consider myself very lucky. I'm 8 days out from surgery and can already handle soft foods like Cream of Wheat and pudding. I still have my protein shakes the rest of the day, but I was told I could slowly introduce soft foods, so I'm taking it a little at a time. I just found out tonight that a good acquaintance from a card club (as in scrapbooking and stamping) has started the process to Lap Band land. She didn't know I had this done. She was telling a mutual friend last Thursday about her decision and the friend told her I had had it done the day before! Small world. Anyway, I told her about this great site and how helpful and supportive everyone is, so hopefully she'll take a gander I have been feeling the port when I move certain ways the last day, but it's not painful by any means. It just kind of makes you go, "whoa, there's something in there!" Glad to hear you new bandsters are doing well.

    I've learned the hard way

    1. You get hungry after a week or so. I was absolutely ravenous, but I found ways to eat Protein and still managed to lose 9 pounds in 2 weeks. I did a search for hungry and found this...I am one week out and I am absolutely ravenous, too! Why is that? I've had about 4 tsps of oatmeal yesterday and a serving of SF/FF pudding today. Otherwise it's only been shakes, popsicles, ice chips and Water, chicken broth, and Jello. Is it wrong to be eating anything of substance so soon? My doctor said I could introduce soft foods as I felt I could handle them. I had no trouble with those two things, but I sure felt guilty! I've lost 6.3 lbs in the week since surgery. Any ideas?

    Just banded 7/5/06

Another July 5th bandster checking in... I will be weighing tomorrow for my official one week post-op weigh in, but as of this morning I'm down 6.3 pounds since surgery and 20.8 pounds since starting my liquid on June 21st. I had a bit of oatmeal yesterday, watered/milked down, and it was heaven. I had a SF/FF pudding about 8pm tonight and it was good, too. Otherwise I've been having Slim Fast shakes in the blender with milk and ice. They are pretty good. I have my post-op appt. on the 20th. Glad to hear everyone is doing so well. I never had any of the gas problems some of you speak of.
