dping, I loved Dr. H and his office staff. They all worked with me every step of the way. They were very encouraging and helpful and would call me when something that was expected to arrive didn't. The whole program is exceptional and well oiled. I really believe that this is the best chance I've got to lose and and he and his staff are well prepared to give me the support I need to be a success. In other words, couldn't recommend him higher. I was self-pay and didn't have to go thru the ins. stuff. I started in May and the only hang up in the works was my PCP. Wishing you lots of luck. Katt

I'm banded. Yay!!!!! Went in at 11:15 yesterday and came home about 4:30 yesterday. Pain is mild to moderate and well controlled by Lortab. I have been walking around the house a lot and overall feel pretty darn good. I have had water and popsickles and this morning I had 3 or 4 ounces of my protein drink. All in all I am doing much better than I had anticipated. I feel no hunger. Unbelievable. Katt

It is 8:22pm. I have been poked, prodded, exercised, tested and tried. I have been cleared by the internest, cardiologist, psychologist, dietician, program coordinator, and surgeon. I have begged, borrowed and sweated blood for the money to pay for it. I have completed 2 weeks of Atkins and 2 days of clear liquids. Tomorrow is band day. Wooohooooo!!! Say a prayer, wish me luck. I'll tell you all about it later. Katt

T.O.M. - you are a really deep thinker. Wow. Katt

I will pray all goes well for all of tomorrow's bandings and thanks want2lose for your well wishes. I started my 2 days of liquids today (not to bad so far and it's almost bedtime). Amazing. I am so glad I have you guys to hang with! It's kind of comforting to know you are having the same feelings, doubts, anxieties, and excitement I do. Again, you are in my prayers. Katt

I agree with Robyn. The program is the most comprehensive I have found anywhere. And that is what I was looking for. A program that would give me the proper tools and support to be successful at something I have failed at so frequently. My surgery is scheduled for Wednesday and I feel ready in all areas of my life. I would like to encourage you to stick with Dr. H. (either one of them) cause so far its been great. And look at the weight loss on this thread!!! WOW! Something is going right. Katt

Help!! What is this and where do you find it please? Katt

Hey Ratgirl, most men don't really know how to communicate their feelings. He may be trying to say he is worried about you and just can't. Men are wierd. Hang in there and take care of yourself. You have a son who needs you. Katt

My doctor doesn't require a lengthy diet prior to banding, just 2 days of clear liquids but he and the psychologist wanted me to do 80% protein and 20% good carbs for 2 weeks so that is where I am now and have lost 6 lbs. Woohoooo! But...having a lot of trouble finding a tolerable protein drink. Slim Fast Hi Protein and Advant Edge both taste nasty to me. I have some Unjury no taste and I guess I could blend it with FF milk and fruit and try that. Or maybe mix it in chicken broth. Confusion. Help. Katt

You guys are great. You have answered all of my questions with patience and humor. You have offered me hope and inspiration thru the grueling process of just getting a consult. You keep my spirits up and my head in the game. Thanks to all of you and I'm soooo excited. Katt -

I have my surgical consult on the 29th. The results of this poll are VERY reassuring. And right now I need all the confidence boosts I can get. Thanks everyone. Katt -
Well, at last I have an appointment with my surgeon. This will have to be my last post on this thread though cause I'm seeing Dr. Hitchcock not Hoehn. You guys have all been an inspiration to me. I get excited at your losses and sad when you are down. See you at group. Katt

I am so sorry. My family and I will pray and I will ask my daughter and her family to pray also. You do sound like you have a wonderful attitude though. With an outlook like yours and the obvious humor you have you can overcome anything. Keep in touch when you can. Katt

I haven't posted for a while cause I have been working really hard and been very busy. Things are finally moving. I have my first appt with Dr. Sabapathy and also with the nutritionist. Then the worst news. Something bad in my mammogram and I have to have a surgical biopsy cause the mammotone thing won't work on whatever the problem in the mammogram is. As far as I'm concerned, they can lop the whole left boob off and take the right one for good measure but they want to biopsy it. And with things finally moving on my WLS. Bah humbug. Have decided to go with Dr. Hitchcock so will see you girls in support group. You have been a big support so far and I do appreciate your help. Katt

You are an inspiration to me. Just thinking of losing 100 lbs in a year is incredible but in 6 months.....the stuff dreams are made of. You can do it. Katt

I have been pursuing LBS with Dr. Hoehn and have completed (I hope) all of the pre-testing. After reading the posts on this thread I am seriously re-considering my choice of physician. What do you really think? Katt

Wow. Isn't it amazing how threads change their course. Most recent research seems to be trending in the direction that obesity is at least in part genetic. There we go with nature vs. nurture again. Only with obesity it seems to be a combination of the two. Plus our sedentary lifestyles. I can tell you for sure that I am allergic to exercise. I break out in sweat. Hate that. I am learning that I don't have to like it, I just have to do it. But back to the topic. I receive no secondary gain from obesity and never have. I acknowledge and accept the part I play in my fat but I do not want it, desire it, gain from it. Katt

I am so blessed that I have a wonderful job that I love which pays me enough to enjoy a lifestyle that I never imagined I would be able to afford. That being said, I am self pay because WLS is excluded by my insurance company. I, of course, wish my insurance company would pay but I am also thankful that I can afford to pay for it myself. I think something is wrong with our entire insurance system. I do support Universal coverage. There are millions of working poor who have no coverage at all. It places a burden on the whole system. It overcrowds our emergency departments to such a level that lives are lost daily because hospitals can't handle the loads. We, as a nation, have a responsibility to take care of the least of our citizens. Katt
