Today is my 1 year annivesary too. I have lost 48 pounds. While I wish it was more, I am not dissappointed. I feel 100% better and am getting another fill next week.
-
My first fill is tomorrow and I am pretty nervous. Since I had two surgeries due to the band slipping the day of my first surgery I am worried about the band staying in place. I have no restriciton though and am hoping this first fill will make a difference. Glad I found you all again...been looking for you! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I think I win the re band due to a slip race! I was banded on 8/2 and had to be re banded on 8/3... the very next day due to a slip. I could not swallow anything at all, water or ice was sooo painful. I never left the hospital and went right back to surgery. I had a tough 48 hours and a longer recovery but I am now 4 weeks out, have lost 18 pounds and I feel great. If your band slips...you will know!

I am 12 days out now ( 11 from the second surgery) and I fel pretty back to normal....except for the tired stuff. I have increased my protien to 64 gms per day but am still draggin most days. Being back to work has kept me distracted but I would rather lay on the couch! I have lost 11 pounds since surgery.I am taking between 600 and 900 calories a day but the scale has now stalled. Not budging! Which is sort of a bummer. Going for my post op tomorrow so maybe the nutritionist will have a suggestion and maybe they will get me get off these liquids! I did have a small NSV which was so fun. I was watching tv and felt something on my wrist. I thought it was a bug. When I looked over to brush it off it was my watch ...it had fallen down my arm from my wrist! Just waiting for my pants to fall off now!! Good luck to all the banders having surgery this week. You are in my prayers!

sea breeze...your doc is letting you go in a hot tub on day 3 post op? Mine told me six weeks...wonder why the big difference. I would love to sit in a hot tub right now! Day # 8 post op( from surgery #2) and I am still pretty sore.

Great weight loss boo boo!! Awesome job sticking to the rules and seeing the results. We are all proud of you! No way after all of this would I brag about pigging out on pizza...that guy needs to stop and reflect on his goals!! I am six days out ( well seven from the first band and 6 from the second one!) and doing pretty good. I am still using the pain meds at night but just tylenol during the day. My hunger is returning some and tonight I had some egg drop soup and that was really great. Couldn't eat too much of it but better than all that sweet stuff. Looking forward to what lies ahead... a healthier me and some mushies!!

I was banded on August 2 but ended up having the band slip due to swelling of the upper pouch shortly after surgery. I was in extreme pain and could not even swallow an ice chip. After 2 more iodine swallow tests over the next 12 hours I went back to surgery on Aug. 3 to have the band adjusted into it's original position. I wanted just to give up and have it taken out but went forward and am now a " band member". My recovery has not been all that fun and the anxiety involved in 2 surgeries over 2 days was more than I anticipated. Chances of this happening were less than 1% so I guess if I have those kinds of odds winning the lottery I will be lucky!! I chose the band over bypass knowing that complications may occur ..but would not be life threatening. That was the most important thing for me. If I had this kind of complicaton with bypass who know what may have been the outcome. I am pretty sore, especially where the port is located, but am doing better every day. I am taking darvocet for pain ( cut into small pieces) and it is working well. I could not go to work this week. I was able to sleep in bed propped on pillows last night. I have been drinking lots of sips of fluid and am not hungry at all. Cold feels better than warm liquids on my throat ( probabaly from being intubated twice) so I am sticking with the protien drinks and crystal light. Glad to hear everyone is doing so well that has been banded this week. For my August band friends I would say try not to worry. Even with my complications this has not been that bad. I concur with others that the gas is about the worst thing. Your attitude going into this will make a big difference in how you do...just keep moving forward. Life is good. I pray for all of us August banders every day!

Well tomorrow 8/2 is my band day. I have been on clear liquids all day. I am starving and have the worst headache. I feel like I could eat the table I am sitting at! Multiply that with the laxatives they gave me to take and it's not been the best day of my life! I will be really glad when tomorrow has come and gone and I can can get on with the banded life with all of you. Please keep us 8/2 banders in your prayers!

BooBookitty- Wow you are just like me. I am not sure how I will manage no more Koegel hot dogs and ring bologna after I am banded on August 2! :phanvan My sister lives in Houston and she is always asking me to send her Koegel's too. Going for my pre op stuff tomorrow. Only 14 more days til my lifetime of overeating gets under control...at least I hope so. -
My doc doesn't require a pre op diet either. My BMI is 42. Every doc is different. Looks like there are three of us for August 2nd so far!

Any of you having trouble with the "last supper" syndrome? Seems like all I do is eat what I know I can't have after my band on August 2.

Trip.. I have been thinking about getting a new puppy for the kids.....bit mostly for me. I think it a new puppy will force me to get out and walk once I am banded. We have been considering it since we lost our dog last year and now I am almost at the edge of giving in again. What ds you think? Is the puppy too much for you right now or a great distraction? My band date is August 2. -
I am new to the boards and being banded on August 2. I still can't believe it as I type this. Clarity.. looks like you and I are on the same day ( I am not going on a cruise before then though...darn!). Fall is my favorite time of year and I am not sure how I will handle not having any of those cider mill doughnuts!

I am new to this board and from Michigan too. Thought this would be the best thread to post in. I am being banded on August 2 by Dr Poplawski at Barix in Ypslanti. Anyone used Barix for their surgery? I have been really happy so far they have followed up on everthing. I am a very nervous about all this talk about Pbing ...it's really is scaring me. Would love to chat with anyone about how they deal with this PB stuff. I am having a hard time visualizing my life throwing up all the time. Yikes!
