    Good question!
  2. It's 19 days since my surgery. I had an all night into morning bout with reflux, (been taking the prilosec 2x per day along with regulan (anti nausea medication that my surgeon says "helps to push food through" the digestive system.) I had some yogurt with applesauce, and chicken broth with a very little bit of cottage cheese, as well as the usual protein drink/s and waters all at times according to instructions. So you can imagine how disappointed and uncomfortable I was. Today I was hesitant to eat and just sipped and had a bit of protein (brand name "naked") which I find tasty and tolerable. However within the confines of my chest I could feel air bubbles and/or liquid not quite making it's correct passage through. Not getting in enough nutrition does indeed create anxiety for me as I have been a healthy eater and with a strong immune system, which I feel will surely break down if I am not soon able to get enough protein and nutrients to sustain me. Losing a pound every 2 days doesn't excite me in the least when I feel my over all health is being put at grave risk. At this point I'd rather have the pounds and continue to grapple with them in more traditional modes. I am feeling very sad not because I can no longer gorge myself but because I can't seem to even enjoy those things I must even at a minimum i am having difficulty. I wish this would not create such overwhelming anxiety but it has and today it was not until I took an anti anxiety medication that I was able to relax. I suppose I will need these drugs temporarily and then be weaned off when things truly physically improve for me. I am trying really I am. I just mushed one hard boiled egg with mayo and ate about a teaspoon of it over 10 minutes in tiny little portions which I further mushed with my tongue. I am going to put the rest away since I'm not sure if I will suffer repercussions. I also bought papaya digestive enzymes today to see if this may help. My mother bought me a bottle of pepto bismol, but I'm not sure if I should take it. Well that is my current status.
  3. My hiatal hernia was repaired too. I had never before the surgery had acid reflux. I just don't know what to think. If I only could know that this too shall pass, but I've read so many cases where people must take medications to manage this. Thanks for sharing your experience and I'm soooooo glad you are not in discomfort. God bless.
  4. That would be the actual meat of the coconut rather than the "milk" or the water?
  5. Hi all, I'm 16 days out, and just yesterday I got a precription for Prilosec 20 ml. twice a day. Oddly enough I am having acid reflux in my sleep! I had to prop my pillows behind my back last night and sleep in a near sitting position. Does anyone have any suggestions? could this be from maybe eating a soft food like cottage cheese too soon? Why didn't the prilosec work? I don't sleep very well in a normal bed in a semi sitting position, that was easier to do with the hospital bed. Any advise is welcome.

  7. Thanks everyone for addressing Shanda's concern, your input has been helpful for me as well.
  8. Thanks again VegasAngel-hopeful that today will be better.

    well, no wonder!

Amazing. I am very glad your procedure went so well. Keep us posted on your progress. Thanks.
  10. I am there with you Shanda, in fact today I wondered the same thing and almost had a panic attack. I hope your questions generate some helpful answers.
  11. Thanks VegasAngel, I'm so freaking anxious because of the changes and odd sensations everything...nothing feels normal yet. I just took an anti anxiety med. I nearly had a panic attack while playing scrabble with my mom.
  12. This has got me thinking, will we need to be on these meds for the rest of our lives? If not will we need weaning off? This causes me such anxiety.
  13. I wonder if pro-biotics would help- if so, this website has very high grade products: http://www.nutrimedical.com/products.jhtml?method=view&product.id=3687
  14. I'm so glad because it is thin, smooth and delicious a refreshing change from all those foamy, or thick protein drinks, and only 4 oz in the morning satisfies and keep the carbs down. Thanks VegasAngel.
  15. Sorry to hear that you too are having this problem. It doesn't make sense to me at all...what has your doctor said? I sure hope your situation improves...I didn't realize that this would be such an issue with the sleeve.
  16. Thanks MacMadame, I will say that I have felt better today I hope tonight's a better night. I am retiring in a couple of minutes. This will be day 2 on the prilosec.
  17. Thank you for sharing your personal details. I am wondering why you had to have a feeding tube, was it due to the reflux? I sure hope things calm down for you.
  18. Thanks for posting this. I for one will be consulting with a therapist. This is a major change and I am encountering mixed emotions about my decision to have had this surgery.

    Made my decsision

You have plenty of time now to stay in the loop and learn and get yourself prepared for surgery and after it. Congratulations!
  20. Thanks all I will keep you informed on my progress.
  21. So maybe I can have 4 -8 oz per day just to add a little kick to my day, spice to my life etc. It is sooooooooo good, and I'll get 10 grams of protein too!
  22. oK so I have pepsid ac chewables too so I can take them both? ...as needed that is?
  23. Okay good question, 10 grams protein per 8 oz. 29 carbs/8 oz.
  24. You know I remember you telling us this and I got a prescription for Protonix from my surgeon. I had a precription for prilosec too. My insurance co. wouldn't cover the Protonix and the pharmacist said I'd have to pay out of pocket approx $750.00!!!!!!!!! They did cover the generic prilosec tho..hmmmm somethings not right here. Why not approve the generic?? I'll have to check into this. thanks.
  25. You are so funny. Oddly enough my cat Coco, likes to eat hair, and thread, string, fuzzy and indigestible materials including plastic bags. 2 years ago it cost me 1500 to get him emergency surgery because the thread he injested was entwined through his intestines! I've got to watch him like a hawk! God knows whats inside of him by now!
