Well June 20th was my surgery date and I canceled because I am trying to get my insurance company to pay through appeals. I posted a message on the 20th out of frustration and questioned whether or not my doctor's "insurance expert" was sending forms into my insurance. You see, there was miscommunication and hard feelings on my part. and I found out that she indeed sent and did everything that was in her power to help me. I was so frustrated and I turned to all of you on this site for help when I should have contacted her and directly asked her. I would like to apologize to her and thank her for the help that she has given. Many of you were very insightful and I appreciate the advice. I do have faith in my doctor and his staff and hope that I can get all of the insurance stuff resolved so I can start my new life. Sincerely, Michele

They also denied me but I am trying to appeal. I hope eventually that they will not say that it is experimental. They will pay for gastric bypass though and that costs them quite a bit more. I actually had a lady at the insurance company ask me "why I didn't just do gastric bypass"!! What a jackass:biggrin1: , thanks for letting me vent. I will also be self pay if they don't pull through which I'm sure they won't. Michele

My original surgey date was this morning:think . I canceled it because I am trying to fight my insurance company so they will possibly cover the lap band surgery. You know, I feel like every one is dropping the ball. I have found that the person who is involved with the insurance aspect of this doesn't seem to be sending the correct information to my insurance company and of course they claim that they never receive anything that is sent. I just want to be healthy and like so many of you I know that I will probably be self pay but I have to try and see if the insurance will pay!!! How can I do that if the doctor's "insurance expert" won't help me in the things that I am trying to do. I've thought about changing doctors but I like the surgeon that I have chosen and then I would have to start all over with another doctor. Any advice out there? Thanks for letting me vent. Pissed off in Wyoming Michele

Got pissed at everyone enjoying breakfast!!

You know, I hope to be banded in a few months. I can eat those big breakfasts (still do) and the chinese take-out. I eat that way, and that is why I weigh what I weigh. You are on the losing side and I think you are doing a wonderful job. After I indulge in the foods I love, I feel too full and upset with myself for eating the way I did. My clothes keep getting tighter and yours are bigger:clap2: (the clapping is for your losing not my gaining ) Just remember how well your doing, even with a 2 pound gain !!! I know it will be hard for me also when I can't eat the things that I depend on. I've counted on food my entire life (emotionally) and things will change for me. But when I have a bad day or week or month, I will get on here and read all of the posts that you all make and then I will be able to be inspired and go on and loose weight just like you. Take care, Michele:p -
I'm also waiting to be banded. I really can't believe that I have gotten this big. My weight gain, especially in the last 1 1/2, has been emotional eating at it's worst:cry . I have been fat most of my life but it has been the last five years or so that I've really been defeated by my weight. I too thought that I was one of the few that thought about not wanting to take pictures and be around people. I don't shop at peak hours because I don't want some kid to comment on my weight. I don't like to go out and participate in outdoor activities. That's why I'm so happy that I finally was ready to be banded. I want to take pictures with my family, I want to go swimming. As a matter of a fact next year I turn 40. I'm having family pictures taken with my daughters to celebrate the success that I will have achieved by next year. :clap2: The level of hopelessness that I have felt because of the weight has been overwhelming but now I have hope. Now I know that I will succeed like so many of you. Thanks for the words of encouragement !!! Michele/soon to be banded

Hi Photonut, Cody is so beautiful !! I on the other hand live in the northeast corner of Wyoming. It is not as beautiful as Cody by a long shot but we are very close to the Black Hills. You too have had success with your band, I'm so happy to be going through the same successes that you have had. Michele:) -

Dear Shackdog, Wow!! you are doing great !!! Sometimes I get really scared and wonder if I will have some of the problems that some of the people have had. Band erosion, throwing up all of those things are nerve racking. Anyway, when I read that you have had so much success (and many others on here) I know that I am doing the right thing for my body. :biggrin1: It took me years to finally realize that I couldn't do this weight loss thing ( I yo-yo-ed ) and that I needed to do something different. Well take care and keep up the great work. Your successess help the rest of us know that the lapband is a great tool to help us achieve our own goals. Michele:clap2: -

Hi, well we have a great birthday then!! I've been reading all of the posts that people have put on here. Today I read a lot about the things you all eat on a normal day. You have lost quite a bit of weight. I am hoping to be banded in a few months. So are you doing anything special for your birthday? Michele -

Hi, thanks for responding. I have BCBS of Wyoming and they consider lap band investigational/experimental. I am appealing and hope an independant agency makes the call. Anyway, I'm excited to start my journey and congratulations on the success you've had!! Michele
