VSG to RNY still have GERD
lynmcg replied to Tracyringo's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
My EDG showed a good amount of reflux which was from my sleeve. Had the bravo probe placed to measure the reflux for 2 days. Showed severe reflux. My decision to go ahead with the surgery or take omperazol for the rest of my life. Sorry your going through this too, it’s a total bummer. -
VSG to RNY still have GERD
lynmcg replied to Tracyringo's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had my revision on Dec 14th. At first I thought it had definitely worked but the past few weeks the reflux is back with a vengeance. I’m at a loss as to why it’s still happening too. 🙄 -
I’m 7 weeks out and have the weirdest thing happening. Just about every morning I have the symptoms of dumping and this happens on an empty stomach. Vomiting, diarrhea, chills and lightheaded. How can this happen on an empty stomach? Anyone else experienced this?

Come to find out, mine was caused by taking my meds and vitamins on an empty stomach. I eat breakfast first then the meds. It’s cured my issue, so maybe it can help you too.

Funny. Don’t think so since I’m pushing the big 60.

Possible pulled muscle?
lynmcg replied to LovinMe2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, but I personally think it was a muscle pull from the surgery. It lasted almost 2 weeks and slowly went away everyday. The more I stretched it the better it felt. -
Hopefully someone can shed light on what’s happening. I’m 5 weeks post op and today I’ve had horrible constant pain in my upper abdomen. Every time I eat the pain is worse, I’ve only had my shake and couldn’t finish it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I’m scheduling for a ultrasound and bloodwork. He thinks it was a gallbladder attack. Good luck with your appointment and I hope you feel better. -

Terrible pulling and burning pain near incision
lynmcg replied to lynmcg's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thanks. It’s been over a couple of weeks with this pain but it seems to lessen the more I move around. It’s really weird, almost like it tightens up when I sit or sleep. -
Terrible pulling and burning pain near incision
lynmcg posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Had gastric bypass on 12/14 due to acid reflux, was sleeved in 2013. This time around it’s been an incredibly tuff recovery and I was wondering if anyone has experienced the pulling and burning pain near your biggest incision area? Not sure what’s happening this time around because I never experienced this before. 😕 -

That sounds so awful!! I’m so sorry your going through that. Very true about the glue, nobody knows if they’re allergic to it until they use it. Best of luck healing. -
Possible pulled muscle?
lynmcg replied to LovinMe2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m 16 days post op. Same thing is happening to me except it’s on my right side at waist level. This pain is a horrible burning, ripping and muscle spasm type of pain. I really hope this goes away soon. 😫 -
I’ve been approved for a revision

I just had my revision on 12/14 because of acid reflux. Good for you for fighting to have your revision done. Best of luck. -
No Sushi? What foods have you had to give up after the Band?
lynmcg replied to SkinnyMiniMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi.... Depending on a fill or unfill my list of foods stays pretty much the same: Rice is totally off limits and I learned that the hard way. pancake, waffles and most breads, most chicken unless it's super, super moist, no red meat and I learned that one the hard way also, scrambled eggs and hard boiled are torture, sweet potato or any starch that is stringy, fish can be difficult sometimes, it depends, scallops are difficult, Peanut Butter and thick pasta's of any kind, I can only tolerate thin spaghetti if cut up real small. Sometimes I really miss these foods but the risk of them getting stuck scares me away from eating them. Not a fan of sushi so I can't help you there. -
small fill and having major problems.
lynmcg posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi..... About a month ago I had 3cc taken out of my band with only 1cc remaining because of problems created when I had the flu the end of March. My doctor took xrays to make sure the band hadn't slipped because of the coughing and heaving I did with the flu. It ended up showing that the band was sitting mainly horizontal on my stomach instead of a slight angle but not a definite sign that it had slipped and my lower esphogus was slightly swollen due to food piling up above the band when I was to tight. A month went by and everything was fine and I went to my appt. Friday had about 1cc put back in. Now I'm struggling with acid reflux, which kept me up all night even after taking a prilosec, eating is a chore and drinking liquids is iffy at the most. Now back to the doctors again to see what going on. So I'm not sure what happend but now it seems that I went from 4.5 cc in my band to only being able to handle 1cc. The flu did a number on my band and now everything is screwed up. Kind of disappointing. Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks for listiening. -

Hi, Sorry to hear your having problems. You are so dead on about the band having a mind of its own, I mean how crazy is that? I did see my doctor yesterday and she was so wonderful about listening and adjusting the band again. She told me anytime I need her to adjust something to have her paged and she'll meet me at her office. I did learn though that they would rather have you be comfortable than to tight and swollen. So, now I'm feeling soooo much better but at the same time very loose. I actually ate chicken tonight for supper without any problems at all. It was kinda of a nice feeling not to get stuck but now I need to be very, very careful until my next appt. As I was reading your reply I was thinking maybe you need another 1 cc taken out so you can also feel better? Just a thought. Thanks for your reply and take care. -
Help! Throwing up nearly everything-including H2O
lynmcg replied to samomom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to get some taken out fast. The more your band is aggravated even more swelling will occur. This also happened to me and getting some taken out was the best move I have ever made. -
Hi everyone, Help! I've hit a huge plateau in my weight loss! I workout 3-4 times a week doing cardio, weights and core training. I really thought this would help me jump start my weight loss again. Maybe I need to change up what I'm eating? I'm really stumped and not sure what to do? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

hitting a horrible plateau
lynmcg replied to lynmcg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my last fill was sometime in October. I did have quite a bit taken out during the summer because it was too tight and then slowly had small amounts added back. I'm feeling pretty comfortable with the amount I have in my band as of now. So maybe I really need to fine tune my diet even further. -
lap band surgery with hiatal hernia repair
lynmcg posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone here had a hiatal hernia repair along with their lap band surgery? If so, how did it go? was the recovery longer or about the same? -
Hi everyone...... I'm sure this problem has been posted on here a million times but I have the need to ask, do many of you lapbanders have problems with bread? Since my second fill I can't tolerate bread of any kind, shape or form and even pancakes won't go down. Even if I chew and chew it still gets stuck and hurts like hell and it seems to turn into a soft dough ball that can't get through my band. Before the second fill I was able to keep down pita bread and wraps because they were on the thin side but now bread seems to be out of the question.... not that I'm complaining because I'd rather skip the bread all together. Just curious as to how many of you have experienced this problem? Second....now that I've had my second fill and feeling more restriction how can I tell when the restriciton is right for me? Some of you talk about your "sweet spot" but how did you know that was your sweet spot.... what did it feel like? Take care everyone!
-
Hmmmm....let's see.... I got the lapband for the same reasons all of us on here did. And yes, I was given a dietary guideline which included being able to eat starch/breads at a very restricted amount. My dietitian did go over all the do's and don'ts of the program and I'm well aware of what I can eat and what I can't eat. The main idea of my post was to ask if other banders had the same problem with this type of food getting stuck. Sorry if it offended you. Thanks to everyone who showed me I'm not alone with this problem. Have a great day : )

Having Problems with Chicken help!!
lynmcg replied to trishb13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have trouble with chicken and turkey. I find the only way I can eat them is if they are cooked in a rotisserie fashion and cut up real small. I use to love turkey sandwiches and chicken salad but just can't seem to eat them anymore . Another weird thing I can't tolerate is sweet potatoes, gets stuck everytime. As for bread, I can only seem to tolerate pita bread which is on the thin side. I think cooking in the slow cooker is a great idea, and I'm going to try that one myself. Can't understand why I didn't think of that before? Take care and be careful.
