KLynch1770 commented on julie.ann's blog entry in My Secret Journey
Wow Julie Ann that is fantastic! Way to go!! People around you must be floored with excitement over your quick results! I was banded on 2/11/09 and have lost 25 pounds so far. I can only hope that I am going to follow in your footsteps with the rapid weight loss! Keep up the postive energy on this site Girl! -
I am a mother of four children. I am 39 years old and have been over weight since I had my first son in 1998. I decided 2009 was my year to finally get healthy for not only myself, but for my family. I had surgery on 2/11/09 and have lost 25 pounds so far. Very excited. I had lost 10 on my pre-op diet. Be excited for this procedure as it is a life changing experience. Good luck to both of you!

I'm a teacher--when should I go back to work?
KLynch1770 replied to JWL08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I had my surgery on 2/11/09, Wednesday. I have a desk job and went back to work on 2/18/09, Tuesday and was fine. My doctor said I could have gone back on Monday, but I already had the day scheduled off. Recovery is pretty quick. I had my hiatal hernia repaired at the same time. I think Easter break should be fine for you. You will be a little sore when bending, getting into your car, things like that. But it is not painful, just tender. Good luck! -
Try and focus on the goal! I am 8 days post-op and finally able to eat cream soup today. I had been on a liquid diet for 9 days! That was torture, but worth it. I lost 22 pounds in 2 weeks. That includes my 1 week pre-op diet. When I start thinking about food, I just try and focus on my goal of getting healthy and feeling good in clothes! Try to pick up a hobby.... playing games online, scrapbooking, reading, doing puzzles. Anything to keep your mind busy. Good luck!!

The psych eval is a personality test. You will take it on a computer. The test is 500+ questions. Seems like a lot, but I did mine in 1 hour and 15 minutes. Some of the questions... Do you love your Mom/Dad? Do you hear voices? Do you see visions? Are you afraid of the dark? Do you do drugs? Attempted or thought about suicide? Do you think you are attractive? If you were an artist, would you like to draw flowers? Do you ever feel like swearing? Do you want to be a race car driver? Seriously, these are some of the questions! There are some off the wall questions, but by your answers, the therapist will score you. They are all true/false questions. Just be honest in answering them.
