  1. To Cleo's Mom: I am from Evans City, PA. Where in PA are you from? I had my banding Dec. 1 ay Allegheny General Hospital. I am a little frustrated with my progress. I can't wait until my next fill. I'm waiting for that much-desired full feeling. I am still able to eat more than I should. It's just by sheer will-power that I have lost weight at all. Take care.

    up and down weight loss

I was banded 12/1/08. First fill 1/13, second fill 2/10. I can only notice slight restriction. Third fill is scheduled for 3/24. The weight is coming off soooo slowly. I have lost 17 pounds since being banded, but none in the last 3 weeks. I hate my scale! I put it in the living room closet this morning so I wouldn't get on it every day. I know the weight will eventually come off, but frustrating none the less. I experience problems eating chicken. Even with tiny bites and chewing it to death, it is still hard to get down, as well as bread and some meats. Since I have never been one to drink alot of fluids, I am forcing myself to drink more Water, which should help. Best of luck!
  3. I had my surgery on 12/1/08 in Pittsburgh PA. I just had my 2nd fill last week. I can notice some restriction but not much. I am realizing that I really must chew things better than I have been. At a valentines day dinner, I got a piece of food caught, and it wouldn't go down. It was embarrassing because the waitress was looking at me wondering what the problem was. My husband explained. She had never heard of the lap band procedure. It took about 15 minutes for the food to pass. It was pretty painful, and taught me a lesson to to eat more carefully. So far I have lost 17 pounds since the surgery on 12/1.
  4. I have not told everyone about my surgery. I had not planned to keep it a secret, but I began to tire of frields and family expressing their negative views about it. Comments like, "We love you the way you are. You don't need to take such a drastic measure as this. What it something happens in the process?" Some people have said that I should just muster up the will power to do it on my own. "Just don't eat as much! Cut down your portions!" they would say. Well, I'm 58 years old, and if I could have done it on my own I would have by now!!!! I wish everyone much success, as I pray I will. Take care.

2 weeks post op and no appetite

I had my surgery Dec. 1 2008. My second fill Feb. 10. I have been hungry, but not ravenous. I don't notice much restriction yet. Got food caught twice. Pretty unpleasant, but it finally went down. Have lost 17 pounds since surgery. Hopefully the next fill will do the trick. Lots of luck to you.
