    Sliced and Diced

Are you for real? I am so sorry it was so painful. I just went through my surgery on the 27th of April. I have to tell you that I have a high tolerance for pain, so I believe that we are at the opposite ends of the threshold. I wish that I had your ability to dramatize in words the vary essence of the each moment of the "ride to the operating room" the way you do. Bravo!Bravo! You gave me an experience that I did not have. I was cool, calm, and collected the whole time. One question that I have for you is; "What do you do on roller coasters?"
  4. lekekari, I too was banded on April the 23rd! And I am new to this whole ciber support thing. However, I must say I am not ready to go out in public and find a support group. At least I found someone who is on the same time line as I am! My BMI was 57 when I started, what was yours? I am a short 5'2" and 317 pounds and at the surgery was down to 299. The pre diet is enough to take all the weight off! I am not at work today... I am going into the doctor to check my incision and port that are not staying closed. This is likely an insulin issue. But I was at work yesterday, teaching small children. Can you tell me about yourself? 5 days of hope

    Surgery Day is here!!

What a great step by step! I am going in on Thursday the 23rd of April to get the band and know I may have an even better idea of the behind the scenes. I enjoyed reading your experience. Thanks.

starting BMI over 50? come on in!

Ky, I am new to this thread and to lapbandtalk.com. I will be banded on April 23rd, 09. After reading what happened to you at work, it made me stop and think about what my husband has been so worried about. I work with young children (preschool and kindergarten ages) and they sometimes get aggressive. I often come home with bruises. I don't think anything of it because I love my work. Could you tell me if what happened to you and your band was caused by mere hitting, and outside influences? Or was there a weapon involved? I plan on returning to work after only two days. I love your quote about the butterfly!
  7. :Dancing_biggrin:The last time I posted, I was upset about how much time it was taking just to find out that I may not be able to get the lap band. After submitting the insurance approval, two weeks later the clinic called me and told me that I was approved! Now I am scheduled for the 23rd of April. I am in the 2 week pre-op and have an extreme allergic reaction to sugar substitutes. This makes it difficult to use the protein drinks, crystal light, or any other low calorie drinks. So here is a concern that I am thinking of asking my dietitian at the clinic on Monday (keep in mind I am in day four of the pre-op). Right now I am having only a medium size banana (at lunch) and then my 300 calorie Lean Cuisine frozen meal for dinner. The only drinks I have are water, and I am trying to mix some tomato juice with water where I can. This may not seem like such a big deal now, but after the surgery when it is liquid only.... I think I may run into some issues. I think that the chew-able vitamins also have sugar substitutes in them and I will only be able to take the pill form. I will have to crush them and put them into apple sauce. Has anyone else ever had this much trouble? Just wondering before I go to the big day.

my first dr appointment is tomorrow

:smile:Erikka, I sure feel bad now that I just posted a thread ranting and raving about all the things that have gone wrong with my process. You are so upbeat and ready to go. I started the process with my primary Dr. in April of 2008 and then just went for my meetings at the Illinois Bariatric Center in January of this year. I wonder if we will be going in around the same time??? I do not have a surgery date yet, do you? I have to wait on the results from the cardiac thing, and the shrink. (check my thread) Again, sorry about being down when you are so up! Good for you. and thanks, because you brought me back up:thumbup:
  9. Hello everyone, this is my first post and I am getting very frustrated. I started my process last April (2008) and have been working dilagently to the point that now I seem to have a lot of "little" things holding me back. I went for a routine (as the Dr. said) Cardiologist appointment and they said I had an abnormal EKG and I had to do a whole lot of Stress test. These took 4 hours one day on a tredmill, under scanner, sonogram, scanner, and so on. Now the shrink says that he feels the need to see me again. There is nothing wrong with me, other than the fact that I am tired of be super morbid obese for the last half of my life. Did anyone else run into all these down falls, and make it through?
  10. Hello Everyone! This is my first message, and I am excited to join the lap band community. I am currently in the process myself.
