    Food spoiling

Wish I had a freezer (well, I have one on top of the frig). Can't buy a bunch of food and freeze it cuz there's no room. I think about buying one everytime chicken boobs are $1.49 a lb!
  2. When I had my swallow test the day after surgery (3 wks ago), I overheard the techs discussing me. They said "soon people weighing 125 r gunna be having wls". It actually made me feel uncomfortable. That I didn't deserve it. Pre op weight was 174, but that was down from 250 4 yrs ago pre lapband. I don't think I would've gotten wls at 174 if there hadn't been a complication.

    Taco Bell Torture

Im actually sitting in a Chinese restaurant playing pokker (Im out, waiting. Hubby) and smelling what can only be described as heaven. No one cares that I can't have anything but liquids (3 wks, 1 more of liquids). And I LUV Chinese food (and Mexican, Italian, Indian - well really any food is my fav!). I live across the street from McD's. If I liked McD's Id be tortured on a daily basis. But I don't Hang in there. And save ur calories for something good, not Taco Bell....
  4. It's a little too late now (I'm 3 weeks post op now) but I waas wanting to check on my surgeons stats. I've googled his name+surgical complciation and get nothing. Is there a site (free preferably) that give stats on surgeons?
  5. I'm medically retired from the US Army (injured my back). I'd like to think of myself as a semi professional poker player? I play 3-4x a week. (just kidding, btw!) I was an RN in my former life...and yes, there's so many obese nurses in the world. It's sad...

    I need your help!

Do u mind if I ask how much you started at? I was banded the day after you and lost 15 lbs (and pretty excited about it). I started at 174 tho. Band to sleeve revision. Wow. 31 lbs in 3 weeks. Awesome! Congrats!

    Isopure

About 50% of people luv Isopure and 50% HATE it. I'm a hater. I spent a fortune on the stuff 4 yrs ago before my lapband and couldn't even finish 1/4 of 1 bottle. Wish I coulda tasted it beforehand. And back then I had no clue that GNC.com has a taste guarantee. If you don't like it they'll give you ur money back. My hubby thought it tasted like rotten meat!
  8. Recently my best friend (who'd been laid off her web designer job over 2 yrs ago and was working as a hair stylist) got a new job in the tech business. She was worried about the same thing. a month after being hired, she was scheduled for laser kidney stone removal (only 2 days off, but still). She was honest with them up front cuz she thought she may get in trouble later if it was thought she was hiding it and they told her no problem. She could have off as much time as needed. Good luck!

    Vitamin d deficiency

The Calcium/Vit D pills I got r horse pills! And the recommended dosage is 4x a day. The guy that works at The Vitamin Shoppe said thats the way they come. If they were to make a Calcium/Vit D pill to come in the recommended dosage, it would be as big as the bottle. Oh, maybe cuz it's got Calcium added to it? Duhhh....
  11. Im truly hungry. Emailed my nurse on Fri and asked if I could start soft foods a week early (on wk 3 of 4 full liquids). Got her response back today. NO. Split pea Soup, Jello, and pudding were yummy the first 3 wks, but not any more. It amazes me that some people r eating regular food while im still on full liquids. And no, im not gunna cheat. My husband is the Food Nazi and would tattle on me in a heartbeat. He had the nerve to ask me if I ate the last piece of bacon. I wish. Some full liquid suggestions (other than sf je.lo, pudding, yogurt, cream Soups, and popsicles) r welcome...

    Band Out And Waiting Anyone?

Its so weird how some drs prefer waiting for a 2nd proceudre and some like to do it at once. My band was herniated 4 mths ago and unfilled. After reading everyones stories on here of having to wait, my pre op appt the day before I asked my dr what the chances would be that I would wake up unsleeved. He said "nil", still not knowing how much damage was done. He's a Center of Excellence with over 2,500 sleeves placed, so I trusted him. It took him an extra 30 mins to dig out my embedded band from my stomach. Recovery has been harder than I thought, but I woke up sleeved. Not sure how many band to sleeves he's had to wait on but he acted like it was very rare to need to wait. Even with scar tissue. So glad that I did it at once. Im 3 wks out and couldn't be more pleased. Only 29 lbs to my 130 goal (lost 15 so far). Hope ur wait is short. Good luck on ur surgery. There was many days that I thought "what have I done?" But so glad its over

    Is this much pain normal?

I thought the same thing! How can I be such a baby? The dr spent 30 extra minutes digging my embedded band outa my stomach and told me Id be more sore than we discussed. Lapband surgery 4 yrs ago was a pc of cake. I took my liquid Vicodin for 12 days. Had to go to the ER on day 6 after having a bad reaction to Reglan. It totally sucked. I really doubted my choice. Its now been 3 wks and my biggest complaint is im hungry. Still on a full liquid diet 1 more wk. Im feeling really good and have been sleeping on my side for a wek. Doesn't even bother me when my dog jumps on my tummy a nymore. No more doubts. Especially when I see I've lost 15 lbs in 3 wks. Only 29 left to my 130 goal. About 50% of people here proclaim how they never used anything but tylenol. Great for u. The other 50% r like us. Wanting to be hit over the head with a 2 x 4. Hang in there. It WILL get better. I promise. And the rec.iner is a good diea. That hurt the most. Lying down and getting up. I wish I had a recliner. Good luck in ur recovery
  14. My esact phrase to my husband was "Please hit me over the head with a 2 x 4". The dr spent 30 extra minutes digging my embedded lapband out of my stomach so he told me Id be extra sore. Boy, lapband surgery 4 yrs ago was a piece of cake. Its now been 3 weeks and Im doing MUCH better. No pain at all, gas was gone after the 1st week, and no more reflux. Heartburn, yes, but no nightime reflux the slipped band caused. My only complaint is IM HUNGRY. On fu.l liquids 1 more week. That frist bite of refried Beans will be like lobster. Hang in there. I promise it gets better. The frist week I regretted my decision. Ablut 50% of people find recovery easy peasy. The other 50% are a little harder. Stay the course and you'll get there. Hugs...
  15. Just bought some Bariatric Support from TwinLab at the Vitamin Shoppe the other day. They taste actually pretty good. Better than the kids Vitamins I bought at Walmart. Don't have that "vitaminy" taste (I think that the Vit B in them). 60 of em for $12.00. Not too bad for 2 mths worth. Afraid to try gummies. Afraid to try the calcium chews also. The guy said they chewed like tootsie rolls. Don't think my tummy would appreciate tootsie rolls right now...thought they would knock out my sweet tooth and give me Calcium at the same time...

    Band to sleeve on 8/9/13

I'm almost 3 weeks post op from band revision. Absolutely no complications, however, it was a more painful recovery than lapband 4 yrs ago. It might have something to do with the fact that it took my dr 30 mins to dig my band out of my stomach. Moving onto soft foods in a week (still on full liquids). You'll do fine. Some people say that it doesn't hurt as much as the band. Mine definitely did. Good luck!

    Soft foods

Just shopped today looking forward to my upcoming soft diet. I bought refried beans and sour cream, yogurt, applesauce, deli mashed potatoes, and creamy peanut butter. Can't wait for that first bite REAL food (it will most likely be refried beans, melted cheese, sour cream and taco sauce. Or maybe egg salad. Only 7 more day.....ho hum...

    Egg Salad--yum

I learned to eat fast in Army Basic Training. If u didn't eat in 5 mins, u didn't eat. Was banded almost 4 yrs ago and was forced to slow down. But I persistently ate fast causing frquent vomiting and finally a slip. Since I've been sleeved, however, Im so scared of popping my staple line it takes 15 mins to eat 2oz of pea Soup. Im 3 wks post op and looking forward adding creamy Peanut Butter next week for my soft food diet. I don't think its a full liquid and it slops up in ur stomach
  19. I'm 3 weeks post op and went grocery shopping for the first time today. I'm still on full liquids (4 wks) and my husband is a low carber. It was NO FUN! All we got was meat, veggies, and pea Soup. Grocery shopping used to be fun...when I loved to eat.
  20. Right now I'm on full liquids. The only things I can eat are: Cream Soups (on a split pea kick now) and broth SF Pudding/Jello/Popsicles Yogurt Next week I start soft foods (adding egg salad, tuna salad, mashed potatoes, refried Beans and cheese, creamy Peanut Butter, etc) All hubby eats is literally meat and low carbs veggies (green beans, broccoli, salad stuff) and occasional cheese. I've never, in the 2 1/2 yrs I've known him, ever seen him eat a piece of fruit. he can't get it thru his thick skull that some carbs are healthy. ALL carbs to him are evil. Whatever works for you. As I stated above, grocery shopping sucked today! Not too much help with your questions, but it's honestly all I bought today!

    Lucky charms for adults?

My mom was mean when I was a kid too! All I ever knew existed was Cheerios and Rice Krispies unless I spent time at a friends house. Why did they get the yummy cereal and I had to eat cardboard? Ever notice how the sweetened cereals are right in the middle shelves, where kids can see them and beg for them?

Surgeon trying to talk me into band.

I'd be looking for another surgeon, to be honest. If you overheard him trying to talk someone else into the band, he may be doing advertising for the lapband makers. because most drs don't recommend the band anymore. My dr still does them if someone insists, but doesn't recommend them anymore. Too many complications. If you get the band first, you'll go thru many years of maintenance, suffer possible complications, and may even cause damage making you unable to even be sleeved. Just to get to the elusive "sweet spot" can take many months. If I knew then what I know now, I would've skipped the band and gone straight to the sleeve. Hindsight is always 20/20

    Outpatient VS Inpatient?

Personally, I needed that 2 days in the hospital, mainly for the great IV pain meds!

    Explain something to me?

Also, is it the exact same brand? Different brands come in different sizes. Last year (before gaining 30 lbs back after my lapband slipped) I wore an 8 in most stores. I wore a 6 at Eddie Bauer (luv them for that!). And they range in the same store with styles also.
