  1. I had no problems swallowing my pills. I didn't take my Gabapentin for a couple wks cuz its a horse pill but I took everything else without problems. U may not be able to down 10 pills at once (I used to, now I swallow 3-4, don't want to risk it) My post op pain meds was liquid Vicodin. Wish it had been a pill. Tastes nasty.... Good luck
  2. Tglastchance: absolutely ull be eating real food someday. It took me 8 wks before I could eat regular food and I'm so happy to be able to eat anything without proble.s the only thing I've found (haven't tried pizza yet) I can't eat is ice cream. Give me major tummy troubles. But yes, u will soon eat actual food. Its up to u WHAT u eat and up to ur sleeve how MUCH u eat. I don't always make the wisest choices but I always can only eat a small portion Good luck!

    how much damage....?

No reprimand from me. I'm a band revision (12 wks) and I eat whatever I want (including bread, potatoes, Pasta, etc) but in very small portions. I haven't been on a cruise since being sleeved but have been on 4 since being banded so I think that's close enuf. The only 1 I gained weight on was my last 1 (this past May to Alaska) and my band was totally unfilled awaiting revision. Crauises do a good job of offerring a variety of healthy food options, a gym to work out, and the option to walk a lot. I mean a lot. Ull have to do a lot of walking just to eat! We eat in the dining room for breakfast and dinner and at the buffet 4 lunch. I usually did about 1/4 of an order of eggs benedict and 1/4 of a croissant for breakfast, salad bar for lunch, and fish or chicken with potatoes or pasta for dinner. What got me on the last cruise (besides having very little restriction from an unfilled band) was the 24 hr room service. It ook advantage of it everynite at 11. Id order a turkey sandwihc (eating maybe 1/2) and a pc of chocolate cake. Carnival makes yummy chocolate cake. U CAN stay on track on a cruise. Our 1st 1 I actually lost 2 lbs. Had no clue I got seasick. Now I get an RX for a patch 4 behind my ear. Works well. So have fun....wish I was going on a cruise soon. I wouldn't worry about tracking anything (cell phone rates r way hi on a cruise) and learn to listen to ur body. Ur sleeve is there for portion control. Make wise choices and ur sleeve will tell u when. Bring ur gym clothes (we SAW the gym once! Lol) and work out. Walk around the ship and in ports. The worst that can happen is ull eat 2 much crap and ull gain 5 lbs. Whoopty Doo. Have fun. Where r u going, btw?

    What was I thinking?

Wtg!!! I'm 12 wks and have only lost 18. I started at 174 (band revision) so I knew Id lose slower but seeing ur loss has made mine look ridiculous. Congrats on the loss...

    Potatoes?

If someone told me Id never aagain be able to eat a french fry, I would be very sad. I can only eat about 6 of them but I still do occasionally eat them. And mashed potatoes was a staple on my soft diet a few wks ago. I know they aren't the healthiest choice but I luv me some potatoes...

    Eatting to fast

I learned to eat fast in Army basic training. If u didn't eat in 5 mins, u didn't eat. Never got over it. Used to make me vomit with my lapband, now it just makes me feel awful. I sometimes want to throw up but I don't.
  7. When on full liquids, I could eat a whole can of Progresso Tomato Basil in a day. Usually in 1/2 cup portions. If I never see another cup of that or split pea again (4 wks on liquids) it'll be too soon...

    confession

I eat cookies all the time. I never confess it. Didn't know there was any foods off limit? Certainly not just 1...
  9. Went to the LA County Fair a couple weeks ago. Took pics of all the food stands. Plan on making a facebook folder entitles "why America can't tie its shoes". I did enjoy 3 bites of a foot long corndog (hubby ate the rest) and he'd never had a funnel cake so I had to take his virginity. At 2 bites of that. So thankful my sledeve allows me a couple bites but no more....
  10. Starting weight pre band 4 yrs ago was 248. Start weight pre revision 12 wks ago was 174. Current is 155. Goal is 130. Going sloooowwwww.....
  11. . Yes, liquids go right thru ur tummy. My dr told me my actual stomach could hold 2 oz of solids but that it CAN be stretched to 4 oz in a year, but not more (they take the stretchy part out). But I can comfortably eat 4 oz of food at 1 sitting. That worries me a little. Not sure what that means... But yes, I wouldn't worry bout the liquids...

    Can't stop losing!

I asked my dr about this prior to surgery. How will I be able to stop losing? He said that its rare that someone continues lsoing past the bodys "set point". Ull hafta up ur calories a little. As little as a handful of almonds should help. I'm sure uve probly hear this before, but Ill repeat it: Can't wait to have the problem of can't stop losing!!!

    Clothing postop

I too just wore the hospital gown for the enritre 48 hrs. I had an iv most of the time and its a pain for the nurse to string it thru the sleeve of ur own clothes. I forgot I was evn having tummy surgery and brought jeans to go home in. Thankfully they were jeans that were a little loose. But I should've brought something stretchier

    How to say no

I do well until the rest of the house goes to bed (8pm, mind u, were not talking about 4 yr olds either!) And I'm watching tv. Then I start to pick at dinner leftovers, whatever sweet thing we have on hand, or enjoy a glass of red wine. I usually still don't go over my 1,000 daily calories tho. No clue how to say no. Its why I got wls. Cuz I didn't know hot to say no. If u find the secret, plz share it. U will make trillions...
  16. Gamegirl: r u a celebrity that we don't know about? Can we see u on Dancin With The Stars? Lol
  17. I started at 174 on July 16th and have only lost 18 lbs. So ur actually ahead of me. My dr told me to expect slower weighloss cuz I started out lower, but its getting ridiculous. I sposed I could cut my calories more, work out more, or diet. But I had wls to avoid dieting again. My goal is still 26 lbs away and I've heard the last 20 r a b****. I actually think its the last 26!!! Even if I never egt to goal of 130, I'm happy with not weighing 248 anymore. I'm now a size 8 and am thrilled with that. Even if I never get into a 4, I'm happy I'm not a 22 anymore. Hang in there. The less u weigh, the harder it is to lose.
  18. I'm 11 wks and have been eating bread since wk 8. If someone told me Id never be able to eat bread, rice, pasta, and potatoes again, Id be really sad. I usually eat it toasted (I can usually finish about 3/4 of 1 pc) but have times had an untoasted sandwich or 1/2 biscuit. No problems whatsoever. Now, last nite I had a problem with a flour tortilla but I think that was more the eating 3/4 of a soft taco in about 5 mins. I waited till I was starving to eat. Bad idea.
  19. I also only eat full fat cheese. The calorie difference is hardly worth the taste difference. In fact, when I was banded almost 4 yrs ago, I quit eating lite everything. I eat full fat cheese, peanut butter, mayo, etc. I do use 1% milk cuz I really don't like full fat milk. Since I'm using so little, the 4-5 calorie difference isn't worth noting and it satiates me more.

    tortilla 5weekspost op.

Had my 1st tortilla last nite (11 wks out) and regretted it. I've been eating 1 pc of bread (toasted) every morning without problems. I made homemade soft tacos last nite and I was starving. Not sure if it was the tortilla or the fact that I ate about 3/4 of a taco in about 5 mins. Luv, luv, luv warm tortilllas with melted butter. If someone told me I could never have tortillas again Id have been really sad. I waited till 8 wks before adding bread tho.
  21. The less you weigh, the slower ull lose. I started at 174 (revision from band) on July 16th and am only down 18 lbs in 11 weeks. I knew I'd lose slower, being at a lower weight, but this is ridiculous. Yes, I could probly bump up my loss by lowering my calories, spending more time at the gym, basically "dieting", but I had wls to get away from dieting and I'm happy right now. I went from 248 lbs to 152 and if I never lost 1 lbs more ( I will, however!) I'm happy and confident of where I am. I'm hoping to get to goal in about 6-9 more months. The last 20 lbs will be the toughest (or so I hear). The first 95 were easy peasy compared. Yeah, don't compare yourself yo anyone else. U have no idea what weight they started at, how much they're "dieting", etc. Just keep up the good work and ull succeed!

    Ate too fast

I know what u mean. I ate bf this am at 10 and spent the whole day at the hospital (mother in law in icu) and came home to make dinner at 6. Ate almost a whole hoemade taco and I'm feeling pretty sick. Tomorrow I'm bringing some almonds in my purse to snack on. I thought I was being wise not eating cafeteria food but ended up eating too much. It sucks. Pre sleeve (I was lapabanded before) I would've stuck my finger down my throat. Not any more however. Worried ill hurt my sleeve. Good luck with getting it to pass.
  23. I'm 12 wks out and eat EVERYTHING including bread. I can eat maybe 4 bites of a burger. I got wls so I would never have to diet again. I'm still losing. Some of us r carb watchers, some watch calories. Some listen to their bodies and don't count anything. I hate counting carbs (was on ATKINS Induction last Feb and would've killed my mom for a cookie). I'm still losing. Slowly (started after my revision at 174 so I knew Id lose it slower) but losing nonetheless. Id rather be happy and losing slower than miserable watching everything I put in my mought and losing faster. I don't think I eat enuf of anything (maybe 4 bites from a burger or sandwich, 4 bites of mashed potatoes, 6 fries, maybe 5 bites of pizza, etc) to go overboard on the unhealthy food. I eat Protein. I eat veggies. And I'm not afraid to eat bread, rice, potatoes, and Pasta. This is for the rest of my life and I would be very sad if I couldn't ever have those things again. Even if it was my choice. For those of u who say that wls was a "lifestyle cnoice" and that we should eat nothing but meat and veggies with our food enjoyment coming from an occasional pc of fruit - I say boo. While food is fuel, its also enjoyment, no matter what u tell urself now. I wouldn't enjoy myself if I never ate the foods I actually enjoy. The surgery didn't change my food tastes, still luv pizza, tacos, and fries. The surgery changed my pprtion sizes and that's why I went for the sleeve (and before it, the band) over the RNY. Whatever way u eat that will take u to goal is the way u should do it. I choose to not obsess over every bite of food I put into my mouth. Thank God my sleeve only allows me to eat very small portions!!!

    Cruise

I guess we were writing our response at the same time. After I hit "post" I read ur reply and had to laugh. We both have 2 totally different opinions on the 24 hr room service. At 11 pm, when in my jammies, I routinely ordered a sandwich (ate 1/2 maybe) and a pc of chocolate cake. Every single nite. Ate healthy the rest of the time except that darned room service! Everyone has their own answers to questions...thats for sure!!! Glad u had fun!

    Cruise

I haven't gone on 1 since being sleeved (11 wks) but does lapbanding count? I've been on 4 cruises banded. Only on my last cruise (this past May to Alaska) did I gain any weight (I was totally unfilled and awaiting sleeve revision). They have very healthy food choices. We ate in the dining room for Breakfast and dinner (almost every breakfast was 1/2 of an eggs benedict and coffee. Dinner was chicken, fish, or beed + a veggie + rice or potato. We ate at the buffet for lunch (or wherever we were in port). Went to Mexico 3x (different parts) and was full on about 1/3 of a fish taco and a few spoonfuls of refried Beans. What line r u going? Carnival has a chocolate buffet on every cruise and its worth checking out. I spend about 30 mins in line for about 5 bites of over 100 pcs of chocolate "whatever". Every ship has a gym (we looked at it once!) and there's plenty of walking to be done just getting around the ship. And when ur in ports (where r u going?) there's plenty of walking. Bring good shoes with u! Anyway, cruises CAN be done after wls. Just pick and choose what healthiest and avoid the 24 hr room service. It's probly why I gained 4 lbs with my last cruise! Have fun! And relax. Ur on vacation...no need to stress about food...
