  1. Hey, I attached a pic. Didn't show up. What am I doing wrong?
  2. Went to my sister in laws in laws (if that makes sense!) Ate a couple bites of everything and wasn't overfull, just right. This is my sister in law and me (on right). I look so fat. Thought black was sposed to be slimming...

    Thanksgiving:)

I did ok. I ate about 2 bites of each turkey, stuffing, mashed pots (food from the gods), green beans, 1/4 of a dinner roll, 1 bite of each pecan and pumpkin pie. I made the sweet potatoes this year and I tried to like them (ate 1 bite) but I just can't eat them. Too sweet! Didn't overstuff but I was pretty full. Ate at about 4pm and was full till bedtime. Thats rare - I'm usually hungry every 2-3 hrs!

    Is It Just Me?

I'm the opposite. Look forward to eating, think about it all the time, and in fact my fascination with food increased since WLS. I'm watching the Food Network and try new recipes all the time. When I was fat, I ate fast food or heated up frozen food. I might have made my dinner once every 10 days or so. Thank God my sleeve only allows me to eat a certain amt. Otherwise I'd weight 400!
  5. I also had 5. The 1 on the left is where my lapband port was, where they took my lapband out and my stomach. It was bruised and dimpled for weeks. It still has a dimple on it, probly there forever from my lapband port. Looks like an alien crawling out.
  6. I had a rough recovery also. Felt like the oddball here-listening to everyone talk about running 12 miles the day after surgery... Day 5 I was miserable.my back started hurting, my hands started contracting and my face was smirking on its own. Thought I had a leak. Went to the ER and was immediately diagnosed with a medication (Reglan) allergy. As soon as they gave me benadryl in my iv, I felt relief. Said Reglan was notorious for causing my sympyoms. Was barely getting in 8 oz of Protein shake and 16 oz of fluids during the day. Took my liquid vicodin as often as I could. Too uncomfortable to sleep. I really was regretting my decision to have the revision. But my hubby kept reminding me that my band had to come out anyway so why not remove my tummy? By day 7 or 8 I started feeling much better. Hunger came back on day 10 so I was able to get my fluids and protein in. Im 4 mths out and feel terrific. Felt fantastic at about 2 wks. Good luck. I feel ur pain

    Low Carb Or No Carb?

The only thing to eat without carbs is meat. eggs have. 5 carbs. Yellow cheese has 1. Broccoli has a few. How is that healthy eating just meat? I say cut out the REFINED carbs (sugar, white bread, Pasta, rice, potatoes-even tho theyre not refined) and eat veggies, fruit, cheese, eggs, Beans, Peanut Butter, etc. Inunderstand how u can lose weight being so strict on carbs but living forever its not realistic. Even 20 gms (which Atkins Induction suggests) is difficult to do for more than 2 weeks, not understanding how someone can survive on it forever. Thank God my body loses (slowly but surely) on eating less food, not no carbs. Good luck...
  8. This may not be a popular response but: Have fun and don't worry about it! I've been on 4 cruises (all post lapband, none after being sleeved) and never gained on any cruises. There's healthy choices at the restaurants and the buffets (we did breakfast/dinner in the dining room and lunch at the buffet or in port). At 3 months u should be on a normal diet. Yes, internet usage on a cruise is pricey. if I were u (and I might get blasted for saying so) I would forget about the math and enjoy myself. The worst that will happen is ull go over/under by a few numbers for 1 week. Big deal. In the grand scheme, 1 week will not make or break u. Ur sleeve is forever. We're planning a 16 day Hawaiian cruise (out of LA) for April. Never been on 1 longer than a week (guess I'm gunna hafta do laundry) and I can barely contain my excitement. Have fun!

    Hungry Every Two Hours

Same here. 4 mths post op, only able to eat a few bites then I'm full. Hungry 90 minutes later. A couple wks ago hubby and I were traveling. Ate Breakfast at about 9 am and by noon I was starving. Not wanting to hear "Ur hungry again?" from hubby, I kept my mouth shut. Till he decided he was hungry. Then I told him that I was afraid of telling him I was hungry for fear that he'd tease me and "make me feel fat" by being hungry so soon. He told me not to be afraid, that he's only just kidding. That he's proud of me and so supportive. I'm embarrassed that I'm hungry so often. Thanksgiving should be fun. I will be able to eat maybe 5 bites of food but then 90 minutes later, be hungry again. I probly should up my Protein intake, lower my carb intake and that might keep me fuller for longer. I just noticed ur surgery was Oct 21st. At 4 weeks I was continuously hungry, never filling up on the full liquids I was on. Got my hunger back on day 10. To u lucky ducks who lost ur hunger (whether for good or just temporarily): I salute u. Enjoy it while u can

    Sleeve Of Steel?

I'm 4 mths post op and eat EVERYTHING but ice cream. I'm a slow learner. Took me 4x trying ice cream and having cramping to actually decide maybe I shouldn't eat it. Last month, after sitting on the toilet for 2 hrs with my stomach cramping, I was begging God to get me thru this and I'd never eat ice cream again. But I've tried everything else (red meat, fish, chicken, veggies, fruit, bread, Pasta, potatoes, rice, etc) without incident. Thank God I can only eat a few bites of any given meal...

  12. 2 dinner for me: 1 at my sister in laws on Thurs and 1 at my mom on Sun. My sister in law is cooking on Thurs and I really don't have any plans. Sorry to say but I'll probly just wing it. Maybe a couple bites of everything. I'm bringing the sweet potatoes (which I don't like anyway). I'm cooking on Sunday. Every single thing will be homemade but the pie crusts (even I won't attempt homemade pie crusts). I plan on having a couple bites of everything - including pumpkin pie. And the next day, I will partake in my yearly day-after-Thanksgiving hot turkey sandwich. This will be my 4th Thanksgiving after wls (banded for 3 1/2 yrs before my revision 4 mths ago) and I eat very little. Every year I've done the same thing - a couple bites of everything - and it's worked well. My goal is to not gain during the holidays. On Jan 2nd, I will get serious and work on the last 20 or so lbs I have left to lose. Happy Thanksgiving!
  13. Uh oh. Just got back from DelTaco (8:30pm). Ate dinner at 6 (steak, sauteed mushrooms and broccoli) and wasn't even remotely hungry. Watching tv, hubby says "I want a taco and a burrito from Del Taco" (of course he's just finished 2 beers so I hafta drive). When we were in the drive thru, to his order I added a Crunchtada (a $1 tostoda). Ate about 2/3 of it. Why? I'm not even hungry... Am I alone or does anyone else kick themselves after going thru a drive thru?
  14. I AM at a crossroads. While I'm happy maintaining, I have this dream of weighing 130. My dr gave me 160 as my goal and I surpassed that. My original goal was 140. 2 yrs ago, I weighed 144 (my lowest weight before my band slipped and I gained 30 lbs) and at my wedding I had to wear a shawl with my sleeveless dress cuz of the backfat. Then I decided 4 lbs wouldn't have made much of a difference and I should lower my goal to 130. 130 sounds almost impossible. Seems like I'd be eating fish and broccoli for months. Thats just not me. My goal: To maintain until after the holidays and then Jan 2nd, I will get serious with my diet. My hubby gained 40 lbs this past year and does well with Atkins. I pr\omised him I'd lean MORE toward Atkins than I am now, but that I'd NEVER do Atkins inductions ever again (did it for 4 weeks last Feb. I'd have killed my mother for a cookie). I will watch my carbs more but not limit them like he does. But thru the holidays, I'm a realist and I'm not gunna feel guilty for having a few bites of pumpkin pie (about all I can eat). Thanks for the encouragement. I follow ur posts also and am very impressed by ur progress. Congrats!
  15. I've been tossing the same 2 lbs back and forth for 2 mths. About 20 lbs from goal of 130. Never before in my adult life have I weighed 150, let alone 130. So yeah me! Problem: Nightime snacking and my nightly glass of sangria wine (sweet red, 90 calories). Occasionally it turns into 2 glasses of wine. Then I start nibbling on whatever I had for dinner. Hafta wait till hubby falls asleep cuz I don't want to hear about how I shouldn't be eating at night. I keep a box of Cinnamon Life cereal next to my bed to munch on. I don't eat nearly as much as I used to pre wls (banded for 3 1/2 yr before revision 4 mths ago). In fact, I eat very little. It's just the fact that I relate lying in bed watching tv with the need to eat. What to do?
  16. We all have THOSE friends. The ones who wear a 6 but want to wear a 2. They b**** about how hard it is to lose 20 lbs. And I used to think "Girl, I WISH I only had 20 lbs to lose. Can't be THAT hard..." Now that I'm face to face with losing that last 20 lbs, I've realized how hard it truly is. The first 100 lbs was easy peasy. I've been tossing the same 2 lbs back and forth for 2 mths. My goal right now is to not gain...then on Jan 2 (after the holidays) I will count everything that goes into my mouth, hoping that will chase those last 20 lbs away I'm now in an 8. If I never lost another pound, I'd be happy. But 130 is my CHALLENGE. I've never before weighed 130 (or 140 for that matter) in my entire adult life. I think I came outa the womb at 180. I WILL weigh 130 someday.
  17. Thank u. You've made my day! If I never lost another pound, I'd be happy. I actually a couple of size 6's in my closet (I think they were mistagged!) and 4 yrs ago that seems impossible. I was a size 22 4 yrs ago. Thanks for reminding me how far I've come and to quit obsessing. My goal is to maintain till after the holidays and then I will work on the last 20 or so lbs. Hubby has gained 40 lbs so he's gunna get serious about his weight after the holidays also. He does well with Atkins. I hate Atkins.

    Back Pain

I had my 1st of 4 back surgeries in 2000 (at about 200 lbs). I've had 3 spinal cleanouts (RAQS procedures) since. I';ve been taking narcotics for 13 yrs. Thought losing 100 lbs would take the pressure off my back and it did for a little while. Lately (the past year) I've been having worse pain. Afraid to tell my dr for fear he'll think I'm a drug seeker. Walking on the treadmill and weights seem to help a little. I notice on the days that I don't do much activity, my back seems to hurt worse. So, yes, my back pain hasn't improved much since the weightloss. Good luck!

    Call me <evil> but...

A couple months ago, when we were traveling home to Or from Ca, I arranged to have bfast at IHOP with a friend I hadn't seen in over 20 yrs. We went to high school together (I was always the fat friend) and she was the maid of honor at my first wedding 25 yrs ago (I was also the fat bride). Fast forward to 2 mths ago. She weighed about 275. I'm down to about 150. Felt sooo good. I'm evil too
  20. Hey, it worked! It also has the date of ur surgery. I left that alone, thinking it meant basic wls, since I had the lapband in 2009. That was the beginning of my journey. Thanx...
  21. When u post, under ur picture it says if ur a lapbander, sleever, or bypasser. I originally was a bander but have since revised to a sleeve (4 mths ago). Tried to edit my profile but can't find where I change it Ideas?
  22. I know I'm not sposed to drink at the same time as eating. I was banded for 3 1/2 yrs prior to being sleeved 4 mths ago and I would literally vomit if I drank while eating. So I abide by the rules (while I know that there's no structure preventing me from drinking while eating, I still feel that "lump" in my throat and I'm scared I will vomit if I try to drink) and wait until I know the fod is settled (usually 30-45 mins). However, I do sip hot liquids (almost always coffee) with my Breakfast. Hot liquids stay down and I just sip it. I know it's probly still a no no but I never said I abided by ALL the rules. This is my only exception to the "no fluids with meals" rule. And I might take 10 sips total. I don't find it washes food outa my stomach faster...

    Alcohol

I thought the topic was about alcohol too. I'm 4 mths out and drink a glass of red wine everynite. 100 calories well spent, in my opinion! I started drinking wine at about 2 mths. My dr had no rule pertaining to alcohol except "it's empty calories"
  24. I wonder if the book is on Kindle? I will check. Thanks for the advice. I KNOW bad food choices (not the amt of food or calories) thats preventing me from reaching my goal. After the holidays I plan on getting the last 20 or so lbs off for good. Then I can eat whatever I want and maintain! LOL
  25. I agree. After the holidays (hey, I'm a realist!) I will start coutning VALUABLE calories and making better carb choices. I eat alot of potatoes, cereal, bread, and Pasta. I know it's whats preventing me from losing to goal. Thanks for the ideas...
