  1. Every single morning this past week the heartburn starts about 4 am and lasts till noonish (making my am cup of coffee miserable). I take 20mg of Prilosec 2x a day (admit tingly I take 40mg at nite now) and chewing Tums constantly. Is this my future? I've been watching what I put in my mouth at nite (last nite I didn't eat anything after 7) and I still had heartburn. Do I need a different PPI? Pepcid didn't work (took it post op and returned to my post band slip reflux Prilosec and it worked perfectly - till last week) Anyone a yr and more post op who has nagging recurring heartburn and just live with it forever? I moved out of state 2 mths ago so it's impossible to see my bariatric dr

    Hoping for success

I know that gnawing hunger feeling. Started feeling hunger on day 10 (and I was taking Prilosec 2x a day). I was on full liquids for 4 weeks. Longest 4 weeks of my life. I cheated on week 2 after my lapband 4 yrs ago but this time not only did I have the fear of food causing a leak but I'm also now married - to the "Food Nazi" and I know darn well he'd tattle on me to my dr. I was allowed soupy cream of wheat or maltomeal, yogurt, pudding, cream Soups +the other liquids. I ate every hour it seemed like. I'd be full for about an hour then hungry again. If I never see another cup of split pea Soup it'll be too soon. You can do this. I wouldn't risk a leak. I was afraid to eat Jello post op cuz I was afraid it was too solid. Took a week before I mustered up the courage to try it. If ur truly hungry, try some yogurt or cream of wheat (thinned). NO CEREAL! Good luck!

Exactly. Don't u want to know now if he's #1 freaked out about wls or #2 a chubby chaser that will not be attracted to u when ur thin. They're out there. I was once asked by a date if I could have my lapband out (same guy asked me if I was still ovulating - at age 43. A little creepy on a first lunch date) Again, just my opinion
  5. I've never heard this urban legend. I've heard of all the expensive potions, exercises, etc to get rid of hanging skin. Truthfully the only things that help with ur skin elasticity is heredity, age, and luck. Not the rate at which u lose or exercises will help. I highly doubt that drinking anything, especially milk will help. But milk is healthy so drink up!

    I was what size?

I agree. I wish I had saved a pair of my size 22 jeans and a 3x top. I'm now in a 7/8 jeans and an xl top (bigger on top, always have been) and wish I had kept a pair to compare my progress. WTG! Ur getting there...

    Cheated with veggies

Dang girl, did you read what u wrote? Ur confessing to cheating on veggies. WTG!!!
  8. At the time I donated I was on lapbandtalk.com (revision) and gave mine to people who needed them on there. Sent 3 big boxes to 3 different people just for shipping prices. And my sister in law made out like a bandit. Lots of J Jill, Eddie Bauer, and Old Navy stuff with tags still on em. U might want to try the clthing exchange on this site. Good luck

Its a big alarm on the side of the wall over the weightlifting area. If someone grunts, brags, boasts or acts like a workout "lunk" (show off body builder type) the employees set it off to cast shame on them. I've only seen it go off a couple times. It's mostly a joke, I think. Not very many serious body builders are at PF...
  10. Mine was after my lapband was adjusted correctly (took 5 mths of fills) and I could eat very little. I thought Id enjoy just a little bit of whole grain pancakes at a coffee shop after church. 1 bite and I ran to the bathroom. Band didn't like pancakes. OR pizza crust or pineapple chunks.with my sleeve, I can eat anything. Haven't had "that moment" yet. So glad Im not throwing up most of my meals anymore

Watch out for free donut day (once a week) and free pizza nite (once a month). The day I showed up to PF and saw their spread of donuts and bagels, I was floored. I guess they need to keep u fat and coming back! I luv PF and they're really good for the budget. I've got the $20mth 1 and my hubby can be my guest everytime and I get the free hydrobed, tanning, and the wrinkle reducing machine (yeah right). Its really funny when the Lunk Alarm goes off. To see the epression on the lifters face when they grunt or something is priceless. Have fun!

    Dating 2 Months Post OP

My experience: My husband died 6 yrs ago. 2 yrs later I was lapbanded. I started dating at almost a year out and 80 lbs down. I didn't feel the need to tell my coffee dates but I told my meal dates. I just casually mentioned it. Im proud of what I did and I would tell anyone who would listen. My "now husband" of 2 yrs knew when we met at 2am for coffee. I just felt comfortable telling him. If it were me, Id tell him. U said it was starting to get serious. Wouldn't u want to know such an important thing in HIS life? I would think it would be a whole conversation. Just my opinion. I dot hide it. Good luck and yeah u! Congrats on fidning someone special...
  13. I look like marshmallow being held up by 2 toothpicks. While I've gone from a size 22 to an 7/8 on the bottom, I've only gone from a 44DD to a 40D (not much of a drop) I have 22 lbs to my goal of 130. I wear a small to medium in pajama bottoms and an XL on top. I'm "that one" that came before u at Target and switched out the set in the dressing room. Leaving u with a small top and an xl bottom. Sorry I've begun wearing juniors jeans (size 7) cuz the butt isn't as baggy as womens jeans. I have NO butt anymore. And I'm scared that the 22 lbs I have left will continue to come off the legs/butt. Whats a girl to do?
  14. My FIL is making his famous prime rib, au gratin pots, peas, carrots, and bread. Im doing the Desserts. 2 coconut cream pies and a pumpkin cheesecake. 20 people will be here. Lots of egg nog, fireballs, and maragaritas. It ought to be a fun day...

    Removal & Sleeve same surgery?

I had my band to sleeve revision at the same time. Thats how my dr does all of his revisions. In fact, the day before surgery I asked him what my chances were of waking up without a sleeve. He said "nil". If there's some damage, they take out 85% of ur stomach anyway. If ur stomach is damaged more than 85%, u wouldn't be doing a revision anyway. If u have any ?'s, feel free to pm me! Good luck!

    Finally one more lb gone!

I know exactly what u mean by the carbs slowing weightloss. I eat EVERYTHING just in really small quantities and it's showing on the scale. I made a decision before Thanksgiving that I would maintain until after the holidays then I'll tackle the last 18 lbs I have left Hubbys planning on going on Atkins Induction again in Jan (he lost 80 lbs with Atkins years ago). While I'm NOT going on Atkins, I will however be cutting back on my sweets, breads, and pastas. And stop the nighttime snacking. I hafta ban all food from my bedroom. Thats where I do all my nighttime snacking - while lying in bed watching tv. I've been known to save 1/2 my daily calories for after dinner so I can snack. That plan backfired! Good luck to u. Thank God for my sleeve. Everyday I get on the scale I expect it to go up - it doesn't. Wow.

    Christmas Dinner ~ Post-op

My FIL is making his famous (used to be a professional chef, lucky me) prime rib. Having au gratin potatoes, carrots, peas, and dinner rolls. I'm making Desserts, coconut cream pies and pumpkin cheesecake. Dinner for 20. I plan on savoring a little of everything. Probly pass on the pie, as it's not my fav but I will have a couple bites (very rich, can only eat a couple) of my cheesecake for sure. Before Thanksgiving I decided to maintain thru the holidays and tackle my last 18 lbs in Jan. That plan is still in action and I haven't gained 1 lb yet (altho I'm amazed everyday when I get on the scale and it hasn't moved up)

    Recovery Difference

My band surgery (2009) was easy peasy compared to my sleeve revision (5 mths ago). I don't work so I'm not much help there but with my band I guess I could gone back to a desk job in maybe a week. Now if I were returning to work as say, an RN (my past lifetime) I'd have been ready in mayb 2-3 weeks. Now with my revision, they had to spend an extra 30 mins digging my band outa my stomach, making me sore than anticipated. I would've had to wait at least a month for either job. Recovery from my sleeve sucked, big time. regretted it for a while. But as my husband reminded me I had to have my band out anyway. What a little more pain in addition to the pain of taking it out? So there's ur answer...
  20. I'm 5 mths post op (4 yrs post op with the lapband) and have never lost any hair with either surgery. Now, 6 yrs ago when my husband died (at 46), I lost 30 lbs rapidly (then proceeded to gain 80) and lost a bunch of hair. Had to have the plumber come out cuz I plugged up my pipes flushing it down the toilet (hint for those of u who flush. Plumbers are expensive). With either surgery I didn't lose rapidly, which could be a contributing factor. I've also head it comes from lack of Protein and certain Vitamins. I can't hurt to take a Biotin supplement and use a biotin shampoo (like Nioxx). U can get it at a hairdressers. Good luck! Like I said, I've NEVER lost any hair from surgery.
  21. Wow. Unless I share something with hubby (we've only done that a couple times cuz I feel jipped and I also like the take home box) I'm such a waste of money going out to eat. Here's my list of "wastes": Whats yours? 1. Bunch of lunch (Shakeys Pizza) or Hometown Buffet: At Shakeys I can now eat 1/2 chicken drum, 1/3 pc of pizza and maybe 4 mojos (potatoes). At Hometown Buffet (same thing as a Golden Corral for those on the East Coast) I enjoy 1 bite of about 8 different things. I stuff a napkin full of Cookies in my purse cuz hey, I just paid $11 for about .50cents worth of food! Waste of money. I attempted to use my bariatric card from my dr at Hometown Buffet to get the kids price. Nope. They said no way 2. I used to eat 2 Famous Stars w/cheese and chili cheese fries at Carls Jr. Now I can eat 1/3 of a Famous Star. Chili cheese fries? A waste of money cuz I can't eat more than 2 bites. 3. At Olive Garden I used to eat 2 bowls of Chicken Gnocchi Soup, maybe 4 breadsticks, and a full order of Seafood Alfredo. Now I can eat 1/3 of a bowl of Chicken Gnocchi and 1/2 breadstick. Maybe a few bites of salad. Haven't really tried an entree at Olive Garden. Waste of money. 4. At Red Robin I used to eat a full cheeseburger and a couple orders (bottomless) garlic fries with ranch dressing. Now I order an Avo-Cobbo salad, eat maybe 1/5 of it and have a couple bites of hubbys garlic fries. I take home the rest of the salad and by the next day, I'm sick of it or it's wilted. Waste of money We've discussed going to Claim Jumpers Sunday champagne brunch but it's $18 and I KNOW that would be a waste of money. While hubby can put away the food, there's no way he can eat $36 worth of food. And the waste in my frig? Wow. I could feed a third world nation when I clean out my frig. Wow, what a waste!
  22. A card most drs give their bariatric patients. It informs the server that you've had bariatric surgery and can't eat very much. Asking for permission to order an either childs plate or seniors menu (kids menu isn't usually very healthy). I've only used it twice - in 4 yrs (I'm a band revision) and Hometown Buffet won't even honor it ASk ur nurse

    Day 6 first meal :)

Thank God my dr didn't require purees. I went straight from 4 weeks of full liquid to 4 weeks of soft foods. It may taste the same but it doesn't look very appealing to me. That said, cottage cheese was one of my first meals going into soft foods. Yummy... Have fun with the food variations now that u can eat more...

When did you go back on birth control?

Sounds insane to me also. My dr had me go off bcp's for a month prior (blood clot reasons I guess) but I went back on them immediately afterwards. We had to use condoms (had sex about 10 days after surgery. Wasn't enjoyable but it wasn't painful either) for the first month while my bcp's kicked back in. What's his reason for #1 u can start taking the pill and #2 not suggesting a back up method of birth control? 3 months sounds ridiculous...
  25. Just out of curiosity, how do u "dab oil"? Do u dab it on ur wrists or something? Where would one get oil? Do u make it urself? Just curious. Never heard of it...
