  1. Congrats to u! I've got the last 18 to go and haven't lost a lb in 3 mths. I lose and gain the same 2 lbs - back and forth. Haven't even thought about the 5:2 diet. Maybe I'll give it a shot. Can't hurt. WTG!
  2. Could be post op pain is causing the increase. I take 2 meds for htn also. When I'm in pain, my bp tends to be higher. Good luck!

So, that's pretty cool, I guess....

WTG! Feels so good to jump another hurdle! Congrats!

    Low fat cream soups?

If I never see another cup of split pea soup again in my life it'll be too soon. Was on full liquids for 4 weeks post op and I ate it everyday. That and Progresso Tomato Basil soup. I still actually like that 1!

    Diet soda

My dr doesn't subscribe to most of the wls myths - but he does believe that carbonation will stretch the sleeve. It can't stretch more than 8 oz, however, so it will never be as big as it used to be. He says yes to straws, to chewing gum, to eating carbs. But a big no-no to soda. That being said, since being banded 4 yrs ago (revised 6 mths ago) I've probably had a total of about 1 can of soda. I will occasionally have 1 sip from my hubbies soda when we're out (maybe 2x a month) - it just isn't that big of deal to me to give up. Now take away my carbs and we'll have WORDS...

    Surviving when life sucks

((HUGS)) My husband of almost 20 yrs died (at 46) 6 yrs ago unexpectedly. I know the emptiness ur feeling right now. Please know that I am thinking of u right now as ur going thru the motions of "being a widow". It truly sucks. It's good that u have a handle on the emotional part of eating, I gained 70 lbs the 2 yrs following my husbands death. U look young in ur pic. I was 40 when widowed and found http://www.ywbb.org/forums/ubbthreads.php very helpful. I wish u the very best...
  7. Started out 4 yrs ago in a size 22 jeans. 3x tops. Now i'm a 7/8 jeans (A few 6's fit, but mostly 7/8s), Xl top. I've lost almost 100 lbs - with about 18 to go!
  8. Last year (lapband slipped, was totally unfilled) before my revision, I ate numerous bags of these little beauties. Don't think I ever ate a whole bag in 1 sitting but a handful every nite only takes a few days to empty a bag. Add to that Starburst Jelly Beans and u have a recipe for disaster. Thank God now that I've been sleeved for 6 mths I can have maybe 6 of em and be satisfied. I can eat 1 cookie at a time also. Hubby gets angry when I bring this stuff into the house cuz he can't stop at one. He has to eat the whole bag. Ur choc/pb cookies sound amazing. Maybe I'll try it out. Usually about 8 pm I'm hungry and I'll have 1/2 an apple with almond butter on it and thats usually good enuf to help my sweet tooth.
  9. They're BAAA-CK: The Cadbury mini eggs - like crack to me. Luv these things. Last year I ate about 6 big bags of these during the season. Today I ate an individual pack to keep my portion low. Best 200 calories of my day. Give me Christmas food over Easter candy anyday. I think they lace these things with heroin to keep people hooked. Those and the Starburst Jelly Beans Favorite Reds. Guess I'm gunna hafta cut my intakes to acomodate these goodies. Should we ban these favorite goodies from our lives or practice moderation to stay happy?

    Sleeve today, in recovery

Wow. I'm impressed. I couldn't even read the letters on my keyboard till the next day (was so gorked from anesthesia). Congrats on the lack of pain. I pretty much stayed on top of the every 2 hrs Dilaudid for 2 days. Then the liquid Vicodin for 10 days. Had a rougher recovery than most on here. Good luck to u! Get some rest!

    No drain tube after VSG?

Drain here (no biggy. They pinned it to my gown) and 2 days in the hospital. The nurse emptied it 2x per shift. I didn't even know u could have the sleeve as an OP. They took my drain out before leaving the hospital so I never went home with it. It's not normal/abnormal. Just depends on ur anatomy, the surgeon, and ur case... Good luck!

    chewing gum

My dr said its fine (and helps my sweet fix) as long as I don't swallow it. Haven't swallowed gum since 5th grade when my teacher (a nun in Catholic school) asked me if I was chewing gum. I chew gum almost everyday. Helps my sweet tooth. and Orbit is the only sf kind I've found that actually pops (yes, I'm that aggravating person that pops her gum)
  13. Im probly the slowest 1 out there. I've lost 22 lbs in 6 mths. Granted I started at 174 (band revision) so I knew it would be slower but this is ridiculous. I know its 100% my fault. I prided myself on losing 100 lbs with the band eating whatever I wanted. That carried on to my revision. While im not gianing, I stopped losing months ago. I guess to lose the last 18 im actually gunna hafta put some effort into it. So all of u can feel better about ur losses. Im for sure the slowest loser here. All my fault
  14. I regret not using my "honeymoon phase" to it potential. Im now 6 mths out and have lost 22 lbs (started at 174, band revision so I knew it would be slower but this is ridiculous). I know its 100% my fault. I pride myself on losing 100 lbs with tne band eating whatever I want, just much less of it. Its no longer working for me. I fight every idea of a "diet". Its the reason I had wls, to stop dieiting. I think im pushing that idea too far. I eat WHATEVER I want ( a few bites tho) and Im not losing. Not gaining either. I think the sleeve has defintely allowed me to eat and not gain but I hafta actually TRY to lose my last 18 lbs. The last 20 r certainly the hardest. Guess its now my time to put some effort into it. I shoulda been at goal by now. I only had 40 lbs to lose. That's really my only regret
  15. I started full liquids while in the hospital. For 4 wks, then 4 of soft. Skipped right over puree. Good grief, over a month of clear? U must be starving. Not even Protein shakes? I understand that there's clear Protein drinks but I really needed the milk for sustenance. And cream Soups. If I never c another cup of split pea it'll be 2 soon. Good luck. I think my stomach would be chewing on my backbone...

    Why the sleeve?

I DID the Lapband 4 yrs ago Such a lucky dog to have lost it at all. I got my hunger back on day 10. I'm hungry often (thank God a few bites handle it) but it's that "urgent and starving" feeling u described. Ghrelin is also made in other organs (pancreas, brain, etc) so some of us are lucky to lose it for a while, some of us aren't as lucky...
  17. I felt the same way right after my revision. It'll get better when u can actually eat real food/restaurants again - I promise. Hang in there...

    Pics

WTG! congrats to u. U look fantastic!
  19. marfar7

    Sooo hungry!

Some people get lucky (not me) and lose their hunger for a period of time (sometimes a year) and some of us unluicky ones never lose it (like me, got it back 10 days post op). Not sure how u get filled on Clear Liquids, I was on full liquids for 4 wks so I could drink Protein shaks and cream Soups to help fill that void. Ur just gunna hafta suck it up until u can have more substance. Sorry. The post op diet truly sucks Don't even fathom eating food right now. I was even leary about eating Jello post op for fear it was too formed. I was terrified of causing a staple line leak. U don't want that Good luck to u. Keep drinking, eating jello and popsicles. Hope the time goes by fast. Sorry no good advice. ((Hugs))
  20. This was 4 yrs ago And me now: Hopefully it works. Still have about 18 lbs to my 135 goal. It's coming REALLY slowly now...

    Have to brag...

lburtie4, on 24 Jan 2014 - 19:37, said: Congrats to u! About 6 mths ago, I went into Old Navy and found some cute white skinny jeans for $7 on the clearance rack. Went into the dressing room with 10's and 8's, knowing the 10's would probly be the ones that fit. Walked out with size 6's! They became my fav jeans ever! I think they must've been mistagged, hence the clearance rack! Wow, u got 4 items! They must've been labeled correctly! WTG!! Feels great to slide into a single digit!
  22. Off topic: I noticed ur in Oregon. Who did ur surgery? I had Dr Tersigni at Bay Bariatrics in coos Bay. Luv them!! Just moved to So Ca from Medford, Or 3 mths ago. Sure miss the "no sales tax and someone pumping my gas" gig Oregon has going!!!

    skinny goals

I know what Victorias Secret really is: They don't carry anything over a size 4. After losing 100 lbs, in a size 8 I walk into VS with confidence. I then looked around and realized I was still obese by their standards and I couldn't fit into anything there. U can buy a 40D (yes, I'm a 40D on top and a 7/8 on bottom) online but not in the actual store. Rreally embarrassing....

    skinny goals

I used to wait in line with my husband and sister for roller coasters, climb in and then back out the other side (1st cuz of my size and 2nd cuz of fear). After losing 100 lbs, I went on my first coaster! Scary stuff but I've been on many since then and I go just BECAUSE I can fit - not really for the thrill!!!
