Has anyone gone bungee jumping since being banded? I really want to go for my birthday (which is coming up next month!) but I can't find much information if this is/could be bad for the band. I e-mailed my surgeon about it but haven't heard back yet. I would do it in a heart beat if I wasn't so worried I might jeopardize the band! If anyone has gone, or has heard stories about banded people that have gone I would love the info! Thanks....

Just wanted to let you guys know I went, and had a blast! Absolutely no pain or discomfort with the band, or with any other aspect! So fun. If you've been thinking about it and haven't done it because you're worried about the band, worry no more!:bored:

Nope hmarko, this will be the first time. I have never heard anything about "disconnecting your port" as it is attached to your abdominal muscles. I did however pull the muscle it is attached to about 3 months after surgery and it was REALLY painful. After doing that, I talked to the nurses at my surgeons office and they said once you pull that muscle really bad, it usually will never get pulled that bad again. Good luck with the horseback rididng. I gave that up a few years ago and miss it!

Heard back from the surgeon today actually, and he said that as long as you're at least 4 months post-op you should be clear for just about any kind of activity. He did mention though that there is a small chance I might have port soreness for a day or two after if the harness happens to cross that area. I should be going in about 3 weeks and I'll let you know how it goes!

Is anyone willing to post like a 3-5 day menu/exercise plan that has worked for you?

I've been banded for a year now and I've lost close to 60 lbs overall. I know that I should be excited for that, but I'm really not. I feel like I dropped a lot of weight right off the bat, and have lost maybe 2-3lbs in the last 3 months. The weight loss started off pretty drastic and has tapered off more and more each month. I've only had one fill, and sometimes I question if maybe I'm too full. It has gotten to the point where I feel like I have to drink tea before every meal to help things go down a little easier. I try to make healthy choices, I drink protein shakes, and I haven't had bread, rice, or pasta since being banded! It's so frustrating because I feel like I am following all the rules, exercising a ton, and just not seeing the results I think I should be seeing. Any advice?

I started off at 250lbs, am now down to 190 and my goal is 145. I was banded in Mexico and only have a 4cc band. Right now it's filled to 1.9cc. I walk 1.5-2 miles 4-5 days a week and get into the gym for extra cardio and weights about twice a week. I haven't been counting calories really, and maybe that's where I need to start. My surgeon sent me home with instructions for 600-800 calories a day, but that doesn't seem like enough. I may be guilty of eating some slider foods, like tomato soup and mashed potatoes on occasion, but for the most part I eat a lot of salmon, salad, chicken, and raw fruits and veggies. Thanks for your insight! I don't want to fail at this, quitting just isn't an option!

How important are clear liquids for 2 days after a fill?
robync_14 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I got my first fill yesterday and was told to stay on clear liquids for 48 hours. I figured this would be no problem after undergoing the initial post op diet, but what I didn't realize is that I am WAY more active now then I was right after surgery. I have been feeling shaky and light headed all day, and I can't seem to find a clear liquid that has helped the situation at all. Would a protein shake really kill me? -

My band only holds 4cc. I was banded with .9cc, and was filled to 1.5cc yesterday. It's frustrating that there really isn't a standard for diets after fills! Every doc seems to have their own agenda! -
Hey all, I was banded in Mexico on Feb 7th, 2009 by Dr. Aceves. Up to this point, I've had no problems at all. However, I've had a really bad cold for the last few days with A LOT of chest congestion, and have been coughing quite a bit. Tonight, I took my first ride on my mountain bike since being banded (thanks to the lovely Seattle weather...) and upon returning home I am in quite a bit of pain. I don't want to rush off to the ER if I just over-did it and the pain will be gone by morning, but I haven't experienced anything like this since being banded and don't know if I should be all that concerned. I have really sharp pains around my port when I bend over or reach for anything. I'm worried that maybe I coughed too hard, or maybe rode the bike too hard. Either way, could it be that I pulled a muscle? Does anyone know what it feels like when the band has slipped? Any thoughts or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

I need feedback please! ASAP!

Thanks so much for your responses! I ended up going to the ER last night because I didn't want to chance it. It took hours and hours to finally get seen, and after all was said and done they just told me to take it easy for a few days. I guess I'll have to try to be a little more careful and get one of those binders! Thanks again...
