Happy Birthday and re-Birthday! Its really not anyone's business but if you tell, they will comment. Its human nature.Their comments will mostly be from a viewpoint w limited information. You have to weigh how important it is for you to have folks know. I have limited telling to only my husband and best friend. Keeps my life simple...

Complications after Sleeve Surgery
ardita replied to attitudefree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello Hayley- Sorry to hear things got off to such a tough start for you. i have not read through so do not know how you are doing now, but I do have to tell you yours is the first story I've read of someone with really severe bad VSG experience. It makes me wonder if it was a surgical error/human error rather than a VSG procedure specific problem. Some others have mentioned things such as dehydration, anemia, but those could happen to anyone with any procedure not taking in enough. I hope you are doing better now. -
Hello all~ I'm still learning my way around this forum and trying to understand how it works. I have been mostly connecting on a general WLS forum and realize I cant compare my results with RNY or LBs.There was a lot of valuable information on that site about nutrition and lifestyle changes needed to be successful with WLS. I don't see as much of that here but probably need to spend more time poking around. I also did not have as far to go-started at 217, would like to see 120, 140-50 probably more realistic for my age and activity level. I would like to hear from other VSGers. How has your progress been? Where did you begin? I'm trying to find out if I am on track for a VSG who was not super morbidly obese. I feel like i'm not making good progress. I don't do any significant exercising but my diet is pretty good-protein focused and 1000-1200 cals/day.

Hi Jenn- Had my procedure in april. Goal to lose about 95 lbs. Only down 45 so far. Looks like you are already down 52. Is that since your surgery date?

Introducing myself to YOU!

It is interesting how internet searches work. Thinner Times and Obesity Help are the one which always came up in my searches and I have been active on Thinner Times for 4 mos. One of the folks there sent me here. I had never come across this forum but am so glad to know about it. VSG is different than GBP or LB and it helps to be among those who arre dealing with the same issues. -
How to talk to your PCP?
ardita replied to learned2bskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pcp sounds like yours-young, thin, not in to WLS. We are new to the area so had only seen her twice and when I gave her a heads up I was "considering" WLS, she was opposed to it. Next time I saw her, it was a done deal. I felt a little sheepish but it is my life, my boidy and she is there to help me take care of it. She handled it well. You could start by requesting copies of any testing/medical records related to your WLS be sent to her. -

Raleigh or Durham, NC recommendations?
ardita replied to JustinsMama's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I went to Dr. Moran's session the other night. HE seemed knowledgeable if a little stand offish (he said "like I already told you..." afew too many times) but his staff seemed lovely. I called Duke the next day to schedule to attend one of their sessions just to make sure I was getting more than one take before deciding and they were all booked for info sessions until July! There is no way I could wait that long just for an info session; makes me think it would be many years before the surgery. No thanks.
