Lucky Losers Friday Weigh-in 5/8/09
Aurelia replied to SillyGoose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey everyone, I'm having issues with breakfast and lunch eating. I always get stuck but once the evening rolls around I can eat anything. It's ridiculous because I have too much restriction and then not enough. What am I supposed to do??? -
What has surprised you the most so far?

I'm having major issues with my first meal of the day....I start of with tea and I wait but no matter what I still get stuck. It's weird because come evening time I'll be able to eat whatever I want. -

Was 192 last friday and today I'm 189 for a weight loss of 3 lbs. YAY! -
Big Momma, Thanks for that. I will try all your suggestions. I downloaded a series of ten minute workouts yesterday and I'm going to try them out to see if I can do them with my injured hand. I've also been increasing my Protein intake and I've been trying to make better food choices.

I'm with you Steve on restriction level changing by the minute. I can be fine all day and then bam! I find myself getting stuck or I can be very tight and not able to eat anything and then I'm fine. My band is very temperamental and everyday I have figure out what kind of mood it's in. I'm also surprised at how much I miss food. I dream about food all the time but I don't indulge because my band has put so much fear in me. Am I going to be able to eat something ok or am I going to get stuck and possibly end up puking. I'm very deliberate about my food choices. -
If you're referring to the IDS Liquid Proteiin bullet I recommend mixing half a portion into a 16 oz water bottle and add The orange crystal lite Sunrise morning flavor.

Hey Bernadette and GAL 38! Bernadette don't feel bad about having treats on Mother's Day...it was your day to enjoy yourself. I think it's ok to have treats once in awhile. I had a yummy cupcake on mothers day and I'm not a mom. GAL38...I tried the swansons chicken breast and it was yummy. Its just the right portion and it's moist so there's no danger of getting stuck. Right now I have pretty good restriction. I'm learning that my band is very temperamental and I'm learning what foods work and which ones to stay far away from. In the mornings I won't think of having anything solid until I've had a warm cup of tea. Are you ladies experiencing the same things as well?

I had my surgery on March 18th. I weighed 220 at surgery and as of this morning I weigh 190 for total weight loss of 30lbs.

Thanks for joining us over here! I've never liked Tuna. I know it's a great source of protein but I can't get past the smell. I bought some Swansons cans of chicken and I'm going to try it out this weekend.

I would suggest asking your doc to prescribe you the water pill. They are pretty small and should help but you should also check out why you're having swelling in your legs and feet.

Way to go on the 3 lb weight loss. I say if you're feeling hungry go in for the fill earlier. My doc is pretty easy going and I can call in the day that I want a fill.

I was banded today March 18th. I went into the OR around 2pm and woke up sometime after 5pm. They repaired my Hiatal Hernia and I only had three incisions instead of the usual five. My doc said I was the easiest surgery he had all day. I can't stress how important it is to get up walk around as soon as possible. I had some gas when I woke up but once I started moving around I started burping and the gas pains seemed to have dissipated. I've been home for a few hours now and the worse pain is from the port incision. I'm wanting to cough but just can't seem to get it right. I feel some stuff on my chest and I want to get it moving. Anyone else get banded today? If you've been banded already how are you feeling?
-
Hey Bernadette! I've been trying to exercise but I had hand surgery last thursday and I've had to take it easy. I think I maybe feeling a little restriction but I'll see how this weekend goes and then decide if I need another top up. My doc is very much like yours and wants me to get to my sweet spot so I can really start losing weight. I've already bought several goal dresses to wear for the summer. It helps me keep my eyes on the prize!! You should see how fantastic my boobies look in a dress I bought from Victorias Secret....I just need the rest of the body to get the right proportions and I'll be a force to be reckoned with lol!!

Isn't it weird that they don't tell us about Fluid being in the band. I was surprised when I went for my first fill and found out I had 2cc's already. I don't know how aggressive your doc is but mine tells me to come back in a week after a fill if I'm still hungry. The liquid days are the worse after a fill so I feel your pain.

Karen, I'm glad you're finally on the mend. I had hand surgery last thursday and I haven't been able to do much since. I've lost weight so I'm ok with not doing anything. Since my last post here I have had several fills. I had 2cc's put in during the surgery...I wasn't aware of this. First fill they added 2 cc's more. Then I went and got 1cc followed by two more fills of .5cc's. I'm up to 6cc's now and I'm thinking I might finally be getting some restriction. I"m glad they don't have to remove your port and hopefully May 26th will hurry up so you can get your fill.

I started the week of at 196 and today I'm 192!! It was a rough week but the weight still managed to come off. Hope everyone is doing well. -
Hey Jill, I've been eating 4 ozs of protein and 3 oz of veg and I'm still hungry!!!!
-
My doc is agressive to a point. He doesn't want me going hungry and as long as there has been enough time between fills he'll top me up. Right now I have 10cc band. It's not about being impatient. It's being so hungry that I start foraging for food and then I make bad choices. It seems that my doc knows what he's doing and hopefully I'll get some restriction soon.

I know I'm not alone in this but something dawned on me a few nights ago. I am very obsessed with food. I didn't realize how much time I spent thinking about food and places that I wanted to dine at. How much time I spent cooking indulgent foods or watching cooking shows. My ex and I would watch the food network all day long and then cook the food we saw featured. It was great for him because he was the size of a toothpick but terrible for me because I was overweight. Our whole life was like some restaurant victory tour. I was banded almost three weeks ago and I'm slowly coming to terms with this obsession. How did you all handle your obsession with food?

Anyone getting banded on this date? I would love to have a banding buddy!

You guys are wasting money on gas x. The the gas you're experiencing is from the gas that was pumped into your body cavity during surgery. You need to walk and get that gas moving out of your body cavity. Use a heating pad if necessary, drink some warm caffeine free tea or have someone use a massager on your back and shoulder. I promise if you keep moving the gas well find it's way out. I wish people would stop perpetuating the myth of gas x being the best way to rid your body cavity of gas.

Aurelia replied to POMA's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Poma, My doc told me to come back in a week or two if I still felt hungry all the time. I'm gonna wait until mid next week and if I'm still hungry I'll go in for another fill. I say wait it out a bit and see how you feel. If you're still hungry then go for the fill. -
lol...Jen! I was about to ask if you're eating an Ostrich egg. Glad you got it figured out.
