United health care 5 year weight history.
Aurelia replied to jem8384's topic in Insurance & Financing
Couple of things... UHC doesn't require that you stay overnight. I had my surgery in March and was able to go home. They only keep you if you have complications. I have choice plus and only submitted 3 years of weight history and none of them were BMI of 40 or above. I was approved in 5 days. Stay positive it will happen for you! -
How is everyone doing?? I'm doing great. The past few weeks I've done some major shopping and it felt great. My old clothes were looking ridiculous on me. I went nuts with all the sales and I bought all new stuff and they were medium and they fit!! Do you know how great it feels? I was a 2x before surgery and now I'm wearing regular clothes. I've been having issues with finding a right fill level though. I'm currently at 6cc's but still finding that I'm hungry...however moving up .5cc's is too much and makes me too tight. I'm exercising and still losing so I'm not too concerned yet. So how is everyone doing?

What is something I can take to work, thats quick, small and simple?
Aurelia replied to RandiG's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Tyson makes a 99% fat free chicken that comes in a small can...its a great option for a wrap. You can use low carb tortilla's or romaine lettuce as someone suggested above. Also, if you like tuna they have it many varities and you can use it with wraps. I also make shrimp or crab salad and I wrap it with romaine lettuce. Let me know if you want the recipe. It's really quick and easy to make and tastes yummy. -

hey everyone I've been on hiatus because Ive been very ill. I've spent most of june in the hospital but I've managed to lose a few pounds still. I was hoping to break into the 160's but I think I'll have to hold off on that until july. -
I love two buck chucks! I'm a Flight Attendant and every time I head out to LA I bring back as many as my little suitcase will hold!!
-
I'm a Flight Attendant and I fly all the time. The band does get tight sometimes but it settles back down a few hours after my flights. Just drink warm liquids and it usually helps with getting it back to normal. Also, I drink a few glasses of wine every week and it hasn't affected my weight loss. Just do it in moderation. Don't go drinking a whole bottle or something!!

Hey Everyone! I've been doing fairly well. Since I have time off from work I've been an exercise fiend. I alternate between Wii Fit and Wii Active and when I'm done with my 30-40 minutes of that I go swin 20-30 laps in the pool. It's been paying off because I'm finally in the 170's!! I haven't seen these numbers in years! So far I've had a total weightloss of 41 pounds. I'm still learning to eat properly but some days I screw up and end up in trouble. Hope you ladies keep on chugging despite the setbacks.

Jennibells, I'm doing so much better now. I really got my butt in gear and I've been exercising like crazy!!! The weightloss has been slow and steady. I got another fill yesterday and I'm hoping it will finally bring me to that elusive sweet spot!

Hey everyone, I feel like I'm slipping and I need some motivation to get back on track. I had my band surgery on 3/18. I've had 4 fills since surgery and I am still hungry!! I've been fighting with eating the right foods and portions but the hunger has been getting to me and I've cheated a few times. Right now I have 6cc's in my band and I have zero restriction. My doctors philosophy is waiting a week between fills and if I'm still hungry he'll put in another .5 cc's. I'm worried that I'm going to get up to 10cc's without any restriction. I'm trying to hold myself accountable by writing in my food journal but I'm getting discouraged. I haven't been exercising as much as I need to. Can someone please give me a swift kick in the pants??

Lucky Losers Friday Weigh-in 5/8/09

Bernadette, I had the same issue with my last fill but I rode it out and it eventually settled down. When you eat are making sure you're taking very small bites and chewing the heck out of it? Are you sipping your liquids slowly. I know it may seem obvious but I caught myself a few times and realized that I just needed to slow down. -
Since no one has posted the weekly weigh in I figured I would go ahead and do it. How was your week? Did you exercise? Are there some areas you think you can improve on? Or do you have something inspiring to share with the group? Last week I weighed 189 and as of today I'm now 187. I'm doing it slow and steady.
-
Bernadette, I think I warned you about this. The same thing happened to me. I was fine the first two days and then BAM! I had issues for about 3 days and then things smoothed out. I was restricted in the mornings and then that smoothed out and now I'm famished and ready for another fill. Give it time and just stick to what you're able to tolerate. I know it sucks but it eventually gets better. I'm gonna try to get a fill on thursday and I'm sure I'll be complaining about the same thing.

SO did no one else lose any weight last week??

I got one from Fashionable Medical Identification Jewelry & Medical ID Bracelets The way I see it it doesn't hurt to have it. One quick look at my wrist and they know my medical issues. Time is of the essence in an energency.

Any Advice on Getting "Unstuck" Quickly?
Aurelia replied to Holabbie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lay on a flat surface and it seems to make the stuck food flow back. -
Any issues with flying after a lap-band
Aurelia replied to PharmaGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a flight attendant and will be returning to work in about three weeks. I'll let you know how the band feels as I'll be doing Int'l and Trans Continental Flights. -
I had Morphine Elixir...Simply amazing.
-
Depending on the time of day that my fill is scheduled I may avoid eating altogether. If I find the need to have something I'll have a protein bullet mixed with water and crystal light.

Bernadette that's awesome! Keep up the good work and just pace yourself....I'm finding that my fills don't kick in until a good 4 days afterwards. I can eat my mushies fine etc and then BAM! RESTRICTION CITY!! I have clothes in my closet that range from size 18 to a size 3/4. Crazy I know!! My 16's are fitting me just right and today I put on a pair of yoga pants that I couldn't fit into before the surgery. Not only do they fit but they're kinda baggy on me. I have a pair of Seven Jeans and I think they're a 6...I would love to wear those jeans some day. -
I haven't gotten anything stuck in my band but I have had stuff stuck in my throat and then I burped it right back up. I imagine having something stuck in your band must heart like hell!!! Good Luck today Bernadette!

What has surprised you the most so far?
Aurelia replied to LifeStartsNow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Gabi, Just wait until you get your fill and have more restriction. I didn't get my restriction until I was filled to 6cc's. Holy Moly! Just give it some time and you'll be making posts like ours lol. -
Hi Everyone, I was banded on 3/18. I've had 4 fills since my surgery and now have 6ccs in a 10 cc band. I can't eat anything for Breakfast or lunch without getting stuck and PBing. So I've been doing liquids. It seems that no matter what time of the day I have my first meal of solids I get stuck. No amount of chewing slowly, taking small bites or eating slowly seems to help. I am at my wits end. Once evening time rolls around I have no issues eating and I'm starving. I just wanted to know if this is normal and what's the best way to get through this. I'm not keen on getting another fill because I'm so restricted early in the day but once evening rolls around I'm ravenous. Please help!!!

Thanks so much Kelin Tx! I've been drinking tea in the am followed by a Protein Shake or Water with Protein and Crystal Light. I'm pretty tight up until about 4 or 5 and then BAM! I can eat anything. I have been careful about eating mainly Proteins followed by veg. I'm just worried about the amount of protein I'm able to consume once the band has opened up. I worry that I maybe eating too much even.
-
Dude what are you talking about! You can still enjoy meals on yontif. You just won't be able to gorge yourself like you did before the band. I had my surgery on 3/18 and enjoyed myself during Pesach. I was able to participate however I did get tipsy on the little wine we had. You totally have this wrong. The band is not a torture device. It's a tool that helps you to eat smaller portions. Stuff like throwing up only happens if your band is too tight or you're eating to fast or pieces of food that are too big.

I'm not in a rush to lose weight quickly I'm just trying to figure out the band. It's crazy how in the morning I can't eat anything and then evening rolls around and I'm wide open. That's what my post is about. Why are there such extremes??
