Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

I am still doing great, no gas pain. I started full liquids today, have had half a cup of decaf coffee, and now 1/2 of a protein shake. All is going down smooth. I am still a bit sore when getting up and down and a couple times have used my adominal muscles more than I should and caused pain at the port site. I am hoping all of you have as easy a time as I am having. Those who are not, I am saying a quick prayer for you.

April Bandsters HOw Prepared Are U?

And don't forget your $$$$ to pay for your prescriptions coming home. I was out patient so I only took my key and debit card. Also I didn't have my eye glass case with me so my friend had to put them in her purse unprotected. You might want to pack that if you wear glasses.
  3. It sounds like we are all having a good experience so far with our bandings. A speedy recovery to you. I am looking forward to my first shower today and regular liquids.
  4. Glad you are doing ok with it all. I have slept off and on today but haven't taken my pain meds since this morning. I haven't felt hungry but have had one s/f Jello and 2 cups of Soup strained for the broth only. Johnson and Johnson does make the realize band and I got that too but without fill. My dr. told my office mate he would give us a bit of fill but he didn't. I think because the rep from the realize company was there and he probably suggested not doing it. Oh well. He will put in 2cc the first fill within the month sometime. Look forward to hearing your progress.

I tried my protein drink with milk and didn't like it and switched to water for the remainder of the 2 weeks. To each his own they say.

I think I am doing fantastic. The discomfort (not pain) is more around the port side and mostly when I go from sitting to standing and rolling over in bed last night. I took pain meds this morning but plan not to take anymore than necessary today. I have not had any gas pain since yesterday afternoon although my doctor said he would remove as much as possible. I am drinking liquids today and will try some broth later. I don't feel hungry so why eat. Tomorrow I will start back on the protein shakes and other liquids. I am hoping everyone else gets along as well as I am. If things go well I will probably go back to work Monday. Today I am walking to the post office which is really in my back yard... ha ha ha
  7. I was banded yesterday but got to go home. It is going great for me and I hope will go great for you too.

Hey everybody, I am home from the hospital and doing great with my banding. I was the first realize band my surgeon did but there was a rep from the realize company there to assist and supervise. I will check in with you all later today but wanted to let you all know that I did great and it was because I was covered with prayer and good wishes from you all. Sherry

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

I will be praying for all of us bandsters tomorrow as well as the physicians that will be doing the surgery. Today is the last day of pre-op and my last real food tonight until around April 13. I hope the next phase is as easy as the pre-op was. I finally lost a few pounds on the pre-op. It was driving me crazy that I wasn't losing but then again I have never been a patient person either. Good luck everyone tomorrow and in the month to come.

    Pre-Op Diet?

Well I start day 12 today and haven't really been hungry at all. I got depressed Friday because we have a weight challenge at work and for the week, Fri - Fri. I only lost .6 pounds. That was really frustrating for me. I emailed my dietician and said why didn't i lose. She said that was low normal was 2 - 20 pounds. Hoping this isn't any indication that I won't lose with the band and that my body is just at a standstill for awhile. My calorie intake is around 700-1000 a day on pre-op.

    Meet the Bunnies

Well I am Sherry, aka in the family as Sis (Sissy). I live here in Central Illinois, 56 yr old and divorced. I have 2 sons 26 and 30. The 30 yr. old lives with me because of health reasons. I started this process in Nov 2007 with my physician but my insurance company did not cover lap band. In July 2008 when our yearly changes were made it was approved so I called and my insurance required a 6 month diet/exercise program to lose 5% of my weight which for me was around 12 pounds. I am 5'2", my highest weight was 261 in May 2008, I am now down to 226 and ready for surgery 4/1. I don't have a specific goal with the band and will take it as it comes off. I am thinking around 140-150 would be nice but I want to see how I feel and look at the time. Let me know if your date isn't listed in the master thread and I will add you. I will be praying each day for those being banded on that day. Please join me in prayer for our fellow bunnies.
