I was freaked too...before lapband I had never had a operation before in my life...but it was cruizy my anesthetist was a blast and before I knew it i woke up and it was all over...well the operation side that is. A little bit of courage now will mean a longer, more fulfilled life in future... take a deep breath, step through those hospital doors and good luck!

I can't eat thick breads and I especially cant eat any bread without toasting it. Its pita bread for me. Pizza with a thick base is totally out! Sometimes I can manage one with a thin flaky base.

There are so many emotional scars left over in a person once they have lost weight...Although they are no longer the fat person they were they are still the same person and still FEEL like the fat person... Many years ago (in my teen years) I was a little overweight and actively lost about 40lb...I was walking heaps and feeling fantastic. But all went topsy turvy when a friend of the family (an older boy) started taking an interest and mentioned to my brother that I was looking really great! and beautiful. You know I was scared and felt so vulnerable I had hidden behind my weight for so long that I felt naked...everyone was seeing me...I couldn't hide anymore. I stopped walking started eating and became bigger than ever and have NEVER been back to that weight ever since... There must be others with post weightloss emotional scars, and insecurities and I thought this thread could be a chance for us to discuss so that somehow we can all gain healing from the negative leftovers/baggage of the person that we were in order to live fulfilled lives as the person we are NOW.

Yea well I was on a Qantas flight and sitting in an exit seat...more leg room...but got asked to move because I was not classified as being ‘fit and able to assist in the event of an emergency’ needless to say I was humiliated.

I know...I was headhunted for a leading role in a musical broadway production in Australia. Anyway you know why I didn't get it? I couldn't fit into a size 12 it was for a musical about the Supremes. I missed my chance at stardom all because of my weight...darn it!

flabuless replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats to all 100lb + bandsters! I have 16 more to go and i will be there too! Cant wait! -
I walk for an hour about 4 times a week...and have been loosing on average about 3.3 lb a week. However, over winter I stopped walking (due to weather...and i admit procrastination!) and guess what? .... I stopped loosing weight...for six months I stayed stagnant...now I have started walking again low and behold the weight is comming off as before.

Poll - Are You Attracted To Overweight People?
flabuless replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
yea...I am overweight but my x hubby wasn't... I preferred it that way...Now that I am on the hunt again i don't really go for overweight men...you see I want someone that cares about their health and lives an active life and who can encourage me to do so too...there is no way I want to go back to being as I was... and most overweight men dont tend to portray that image. If i got with someone that didn't really give a d'mn about their body my fear is that I would revert to old habits...just my thoughts. -

flabuless replied to DeLarla's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have rued my 'fat' pics for so long but now I get inspiration for them...so I am going to take the plunge and share them with the world...I still have a fair bit to go but I am getting there....slowly. -
i hear you...I have lost 84lb since having my lapband and i am still wearing clothes I wore when I was at my largest 334lb. Needless to say they are hanging off me like a sack. but I just cant justifye purchasing new ones just yet. There must be thousands of us in the same boat...Still, I am trying to remedy the issue Inspired by similar threads on lapband talk I am trying to put together a clothes swap site for people like us. Its not ready yet but should be up by the new year. keep an eye out for it Hopefully it will solve All our problems

Hey if you guys want to exchange your larger clothes for smaller sizes check out http://www.sizexchange.com It will be launched in about 6 or so weeks but basically it is clothes exchange site where you can post your no longer needed clothes and others bid on them with points and then you can use those points to bid on other members items in the size that you need. I will post again when it has launched but if anyone wants to know more about it you can always private message me. and i will let you know as soon as we have launched.
