Newbie with Question
flabuless replied to Riley O'Riley's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Riley O'Riley I also felt something similar a couple of weeks after my surgery...but dr assured me it was just healing...and I haven't felt it since.. best wishes  -

Hi miss phobia... gosh I really feel for you...but don't think of Lap band as a magical cure there are still things to be done, rules to follow...why not start now...without the surgery at this stage...try and make proper food choices, get out and exercise, drink lots of water so that when/if you can get lapband surgery done ....you are well on the way...besides it will at least start making you feel a bit better...that you are doing something on your own about it. Best Wishes keep us posted.

I go out all the time...I order pasta dishes mostly....and sometimes cake...for me this isn't a diet it is about eating things in moderation...obviously I avoid high calorie things like chocolate...and snacking but when I sit down for a meal, at a restaurant, I eat the thing I want...that makes my mouth water. I don't end up eating all of it...I usually share with my mom and my 3 year old son...but I still love the flavours of food...and I still want to experience these...so though i don't eat alot...I love to eat.

Welcome Becka goodluck on your research...sad about dr Sanchez but I am sure you will find someone equally as apt. let us know of your progress!

What a lovely idea for a thread! I am a single mother of a 3yr boy, Abe and a 1yr girl, phoebe. gosh funny things happen all the time...but Abe is constantly cracking me up...I had to tell him the other day that he couldn't do or touch something cause he was a 'too little'. to which he replied "but, I am a big boy!"... so i explained at length that yes he was bigger than his sister but not bigger than his cousin jack (who was 7yrs)....he thought about this very carefully for a few min then came up with: "I'm a little Big Boy arent I mom?" needless to say i gave him a big hug and agreed.

Lap Band Talk Newbie Here!! How soon did you get your 1st fill post-op?
flabuless replied to mamamanikay's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I got my first fill at 2.5 months...but inbetween the op and this first fill, I moved countries and it took awhile to find a dr in my new home that would be able to do it... -
Lap band is definately the more noninvasive option...but there is still work to be done...how committed are you...if you ARE then bring on the lapband..you'll do great! Just take one day at a time..

Fast or gradual?
flabuless replied to Elisabethsew's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I live a long way away from my dr so i have repeat fills probably once every 6 months...I'm doing ok though. -
Banded and loving it...love this poll very interesting!
-
I took it to a online photo manipulation company...they are very good and shaved of the excess weight in a realistic way... http://www.giftstring.com I just did it for a bit of fun and to see how i will look when I have lost the weight.

you may not feel much restriction until after the first 2 or 3 fills so dont get disappointed if you don't...its a part of the process...better to do it slowly and gage your bodys responce then do what my dr did and put in the full 4cc in a 4cc band on my 2nd fill...needless to say i was a very sick puppy couldn't hold down water, vomiting fleme it was awful...so slow is best...goodluck on your fill...keep us posted on how you fair.

I was supposed to have my operation in Jan 05 but 1 week before I was due to go in...I discovered I was pregnant...needless to say the op was postponed...funny enough i lost heaps of weight over the following months...guess thats the hormones for you...and as soon as my 2nd child was born (5 weeks later) I went in and had my lapband...it was really cool because the private hospital I went to for my childbirth was the same for my lapband and i was in the maternity ward...so the very same nurses that birthed my child nursed me after lap band surgery...they loved it because my 5 week year old 'roomed in' with me and they don't usually get to see and look after babies later once the mother had gone home...very cool!

How does it feel when you are full?
flabuless replied to shell04937's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know I am too full when I get an acute pain in my left shoulder...it is really uncomfortable and i cant relax... :*( -
I had exactly the same thing...it was awfull I couldnt get comfortable...my dr made the mistake of filling my 4cc band with 4cc on my second fill....I thought I was going to die...kept on vomiting saliva...couldn't keep water down and I was in pain! like you a quick call to the dr and I was back in the clinic after hours to remove some of the fluid...haven't had the same issue again with my 3rd fill. so all is good.

The hunger..doees come believe me I am one year post op...and boy when I get hungry...momma wants to EAT! time to go for a walk or have a coffee...exercise or a drink usually suffices...obviously my tummy tells me i'm hungry but my band tells me i am not...I mostly listen to the band.... and have some liquids.
