    The Lighter Side of Large

yes I have a couple of these pictures on my personal website...http://www.thelightersideoflarge.com...you may have seen them there...and I am using the 'head' off one of them for my avatar!!!
  3. yea I would agree with the others...it should be ok. but they do need to know just in case the anesthetic/morphine they use could react in some way to the antibiotics...
  4. I have two small scars and 1 medium scar just above my belly button left over from the surgery...they don't look too bad and have certainly faded over time...I cant even see the needle points from all my fills....but I don't think I will ever be a bikini wearing girl so for me it was a small price to pay for and all over better body and healthier lifestyle...

How do I tell my best friend???

I know how you are feeling...cause when I told my best friend her displeasure was quite intense...you see she had lost her weight through jenny craig and had always been adament that i do it the same way as her...when i told her i was going to have lapband...her comment 'thats a bit extreme isn't it' ...It was really hard at every point she would try and talk me out of it, dropping hints that Jenny Craig had this 50% off deal and so forth...when I finally told her my surgery date it was like 'oh...so you are going to go through with it.' I could have throttled her. but fortunately i moved away soon after and don't have to deal with her that much anymore...lapband certainly put a sort of a distance between us...but I HAD to do this for ME and no-one else...and now I don't really care what she thinks cause hey regardless of how I have lost weight that is my goal so you would think she would be happy for me too...but hmmm still the uncomfortable silence.

    Divorce

Hi everyone...well my story...I found out two weeks after my youngest child was born that my husband (of 4 years) has been having an affair with one our mutual friends...for the last 4 years also. He basically had two families (although her kids were not his biologically) for all this time...He had been giving me the raw end of the deal; resenting me, ranting at me treating me like a doormat, and had no consideration for me and his two beautiful kids, for so long now that when I found out he was also involved with another woman and was probably giving the best of himself to her...I was OUT OF THERE! we have been separated a year now...and I have changed, and grown, and developed so much self confidence since it is not funny!!! I am loving just being with the kids. I am starting a small business, I am doing things now I never dreamed possible. And on top of that i am loosing weight and looking fantastic... I cant wait to loose even more and stick it up him what he missed out on... Well good riddens I say...good riddens to men who don't appreciate the jewels that are in their own homes.

    Why are YOU Fat?

I have always been big...cause I am big boned...(roll eyes) and love my food! However I became morbidly obese because of a condition called hypothyroidism...basically when I eat it gets stored on my body, in preparation for a famine... instead of burning up in energy... basically I got tired all the time, and didn't have energy for anything.. Sat on the couch eating basically...fortunately I was diagnosed 3 years ago as having it and have been on medication every since...and will be on medication for it for the rest of my life...so the lapband is remove the lbs of lard that I have put on as a result.
  9. Welcome thiyekhile Unfortunately i don't personally know of any dr's in SA but I just wanted to drop by and welcome you to LBT... Best of luck with your search...keep us posted on your progress.

    Lap-band misconceptions

The one that irritates me is that after lapband you will never 'feel' hungry again... God I am so hungry most of the time...just cant eat much when i do eat!

What exactly IS a little bite?

Interesting question...I always thought 'little bite' referred to the amount of food we put in our mouth in the first place...to chew...not the actual chew itself. Becky

Too Tight or is This Band-Life?

leenerbups-sounds like your completely normal...lunch/dinner is fine. kareyquilts-I think in your case just chew more...chicken is difficult...you have to literally chew and chew also helps to have some liquid based sauce like dish to help 'glide' the chicken down...If you don't fee fullness yet...go bak to your filler and get another one...my dr recommends I get adjustments every month or so. mlg2007-I also have a 4cc band and I am on 3.5 now but still would'nt say its my 'sweet' spot..still I am loosing weight with a little self discipline...dang!

    Anyway to prevent sagging skin???

My dr always tells me that the slower you loose weight the more your chances of having less amounts of flabby skin in the end...'cause slow weightloss gives the skin a chance to shrink with the rest of you...dunno if this is a medical fact but he is VERY certain of it!

    To do or not to....

Hi ya ohiobluegal We all started this journey with worries, fears, concerns that we would'nt be able to do all required...but as with anything its a one day at a time journey!!! If your priority is to loose weight and you are committed to that...even if you make a few mistakes one day you have always got the next day to make up and try and make good choices...I love my food...my eyes are way bigger than my stomach...sometimes I get in trouble with this but tomorro for me is always a new day...You will never know how you cope up with the responsibility until you try...but I guarantee that once you start seeing the scale going down and down that is all the motivation you will need to keep going.... Welcome to lapband talk and good luck for your consult in a few weeks...I hope you find all the answers you are looking for. Becky
