  3. so true...they make people who have had WLS seem like slobs who are taking the 'easy way out' but that is soooo not true if this is 'easy' I would like to know what is 'hard'! Its like we are looked down on cause we dont have the will power to loose weight on our own...if only they knew! becky

10 top reasons why not to get FAT

Haha! Great minds think alike...check out http://www.lapbandtalk.com/lighter-side-large-t26250.html?t=26250&highlight=the+lighter+side+of+large there are a few pictures there as well. I have got about 50 more of these but here are a few more of my good ones! 1. Finding my seat on an airplane without knocking out the unfortunate passengers seated in the aisle seats on the way there! 2. Flopping onto a waterbed without wiping out my bed companion with a tidal wave of catastrophic proportions. 3. Doing a push up where my breasts and tummy actually lift off the ground! 4. Wearing G-strings (a thong) and actually have my husband notice that I AM wearing underwear! (i'll leave that one to the imagination!) 5. Weaving in and out of people at a crowded party without 'feeling everyone up' in the process. he he he! as you can see I have a rather ridiculous sence of humour! Becky

    Negative People

Welcome to Lapband talk Felicia17. I have had to deal with negative people...In the end I just came to the same point as you and decided despite all their 'well meaning' concern I had to do this for ME and for ME this was the best way to loose weight...Eventually, once they new I was determined to go through with it...they came on board and were supportive...I guess they just gave up on me! Well now they are eating their words cause they can see just how much good having this lapband has done for me...and they are congratulating me now for having the guts to do it... My advise to you...Dont worry about them do what you need to do for YOU if they love you they will come around and be your number 1 supporters. I cant wait to hear of your progress. Best wishes becky

    I can feel it??

Well I have definately felt strange things...and have been convinced that I can feel the band as well... like jachut generally after exercising or doing something strenuous...It could be something different but I can certainly relate to kynekke feeling like their is an strange object in her tummy and not in the 'port' region either...higher up just under my ribs... becky

  19. Scorpio darl...straight after surgery you are not supposed to be eating...you could dislodge the band...that is why the liquid diet is sooooo... important. you may not feel the 'restrictive' effects of the lapband itself till after your 2nd or 3rd fill but for now...try and stay on the liquid diet...get out and walk...that should take care of the gas pains and practice your deep breathing...I hope you feel better soon. I know it is hard sometimes to stay on track but it is so worth it in the long term...Chin up, allow yourself to heal then see how you feel...I am sure you will be alot more positive about things soon. becky

    No liquids required! Cool!

My dr did not require any kind of pre surgery diet...probably because I got it in Australia...I had the last supper the night before...I was soo.....full. I haven't eaten like that in a long time....Well obviously!!! becky

    Hello...my name is Jodi

Welcome Jodi my wake up call on how my x hubby thought about me and my weight was when i heard through a mutual source that at work he was laughing at me with his workmates and calling me a 'big fat slob who sits on the couch all day eating chocolate' man did it hurt! I had lapband surger two weeks after we separated and have never looked back...funny thing is now I am looking Way better he wants me back...my thoughts...if you couldn't love me the way I deserve when I was fat then why would I go back to you now that I am starting to look fantastic...I got sick of the sly comments he used to make about my weight when we were married...he used to really speak down at me and stopped taking me out to his friends place etc cause I guess he was embarassed about being seen with me...Now that is a horror story and I sincerely hope that it never happens to you...Sounds like your plans to have lapband to try and control your weight is very timely...I wish you all the best with your progress...keep us posted. I feel for you and totally understand what you are going through. becky

  25. Kaboom...I was really worried at my partners reaction...he did the same thing as your hubby and couldn't understand why I didn't just do Jenny Craig or something...It was quite humiliating made me feel like I was lazy and trying to take the 'easy way out'. I tried to explain the complications of my condition (hypothyroidism) and explained why it was incredibly difficult to loose weigh on my own...despite my many attempts...Lapband is an everyday occurence for these surgeons in whose capable hands we put our lives...the complications are are very, very, very rare occurence. Best wishes for your surgery Becky
