Any reviews here on OCC in TJ?
tibbie replied to NorCalRN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband was concerned, but I took a more relaxed view. We didn't roam around the streets by ourselves, but we did go shopping at Plaza Rio. Everything was fine. We were driven acrossed the border, took a taxi from the hotel, & just had a very pleasant time. We did see police riding in the back of trucks, carrying very large guns, but it seemed far better to me than seeing no police. -

Telling People You Are Banded?
tibbie replied to WannaBe1/2TheWoman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've told my mom & my sister but that's it. I agree that I don't want to be the subject of debate or gossip. I feel like this is private & gaining or losing weight already makes you the topic of enough conversation- pleasant or otherwise. (let alone all the misguided comments) So I'm not even opening this up for any discussion. Probably I'm just touchy, but I think knowing me doesn't mean you get to know all about me. Know what I mean? -

tibbie replied to gabi311b's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
>WHOOP WHOOP< STUPID QUESTION ALERT: I tried to change my current weight on my weight loss ticker. I just edited the number on the ticker code at my profile here. Nothing happened. How do I update my ticker? -
Calling All MARCH '09 Bandsters - We need a name!
tibbie replied to gabi311b's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery date is March 13th, and I've start the presurgery diet. I'm using Atkins shakes and EAS shakes to avoid the sugar & eating lean meat & green veggies at night. Most of my cravings are under control but food commercials are the devil! -

tibbie replied to simmons775's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't have any advice for you fp, but congratulations on being banded. My date is the 13th & I'm psyched! -
Yep, but I'm freaking about the birth certificate. Can't find mine. I'm requesting another one, but I have to send to San Diego for it. Aaarrgh.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate all the help. -
Carol is my coordinator. I know the quick trip isn't a great idea. I don't know if I can get my tickets changed, but thanks for the tips on washcloth & pillow. I will bring them along.

Champaign Illinois Anyone? Central area?
tibbie replied to simmons775's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm going to Tijuana, Dr Ortiz. I plan to start walking as soon as it warms up a few degrees & I have a gazelle to pull out of the garage. I'm self-pay so Dr. Ortiz is the only way I'm going to get this, but I've heard good things about him. I would have liked to had Dr. Rohrschieb(sp?) but I will just have to go to him for fills:) Thanks for the encouragement & advice! -

I'm from Illinois too! East of St. Louis, but definately close enough to shop there:smile: I'm being banded by Dr. Ortiz, but intend to have Dr. R. do my fills. Any pithy advice? -
I'm a teacher--when should I go back to work?
tibbie replied to JWL08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm looking at the same issue. I plan on having surgery on a Friday & going back to work on a Monday or Tuesday. I teach high school. I know I'm pushing things & probably I'm an idiot, but I just don't want to wait another thirty seconds if I don't have to. -
I'm going to Dr. Ortiz March 13th. I'm hoping to fly home on the 14th. Do-able? I would also like to keep getting my fills theres since they xray. Do they really give you a bigger fill since they are watching it? & last question: The border, how big a pain is that?

Looking for product reviews and suggestions (things to help us cook our food healthie
tibbie replied to als74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have heard that some people were going to try parchment paper in their George Foreman to see if that can avoid the mess. No idea how well it worked, but it seems like it should. -

I'm being banded on March 13th, but I will weigh in on the useful kitchen products I just started using the Rocket Grill & I LOVE it. No mess. No bother. No cleanup like the George Foreman. You do have to purchase parchment bags to cook your food in, but I reuse them 3 or 4 times. I've done chicken breasts, veggies, pork tenderloins, turkey sandwhiches, even (to my deep shame) ... bacon. Everthing comes out juicy, evenly cooked, and tasty. Check them out on-line. -
