Day 1 - Guess it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but am only half way through the day. The broth actually tasted pretty good but once again let me say it is only my first day!! My husband has called twice just to tell me he loves me and that he knows I can do it! What a great husband I have - So heres to day 2!!!

So the journey begins. When I wake up tomorrow I start my 10 day liquid only diet!! Making lots of jello and bought lots of broth. Found a few drinks I can live with. I think I will be ok but already told my husband to tell me if I become too much of a " B" . He has been so great through all of this. I guess if we can survive the next 10 days we can survive anything!!!

I have fought for a year and finally got my insurance to approve my surgery!! I went to my 1st seminar on January 17th of 2009 and have been jumping through hoops ever since. Finally got surgery scheduled for February 4th. I am so excited - It is finally a reality! I have warned the people at work that I will probably not be the best person to be around the 10 days before but they are a great support system. It is so funny though, my husband and I were sitting in a restaurant the other day and I was talking about how nice it will be to be able to sit in a booth - it's the little things that a lot of people don't even think about that make such a huge difference! I am sure I will be looking to all of you for support in the next few weeks! Thanks in advance to all of you!

So here I am - 6 months into this and still waiting on the insurance. Just got out of the hospital with other stomach and reflux problems. Doc's told me that weight loss would be a big help in taking care of this. You think the insurance would want to just pay for the surgery and get it over with instead of paying for a 5 day stay in the hospital plus loads of test that I know will cost a whole lot more than the cost of the surgery! Got the first turndown letter so had to have more info submitted by my personal doc and the surgeon. Was really getting frustrated! Really went on an eating binge - I know emotional eating - went to a support meeting and feel much better now. Was even back at the gym before this last little hospital stay! I guess you just have to play their little games - but it is really frustrating!!!!

So I went for my first appointment with the surgeon yesterday. Looks like he thinks I am a great candidate for the surgery! This thing is a reality now. But now we play the waiting game with the insurance. We have the rider on our policy so I know it will be covered because I meet all the "medical necessities" but they are not going to be in as big of a hurry as I am. The doc has assured me though that within 6 to 8 weeks I will be going under the knife. WOW!!! I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous but I know the end results will be all worth it - right?:cursing:

So it looks like this thing really might happen! I have done all the pre-testing and went to my first support group the other night so I am feeling more comfortable. It helps to talk to people who have actually gone through it. I am trying to help myself before the surgery too. Haven't had fast food for over a month! That is a big thing because we would do fast food for lunch every day at work! Have brought lunch everyday! Eating lots of chicken and vegetables. Been pretty good about going to the gym too. I have lost 10.5 lbs so far. Just hope I can get this scheduled before I fall off the wagon. See the surgeon on 3/4/09 and then he has to submit to insurance and then we play the waiting game. I know this website will be a great help! So here's to making loads of friends and becoming a proud member of the lap-band society!
