Eating more Conservative Post OP than Dr says?
BeefromCalie replied to WDW Luver's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on 4-16-09. I suppose to be on liquids for 3 weeks. I can tell you I don't know how I'm gonna make it although it probably would not be so bad if I was able to do the protien shakes but I just can't stand them. I'm forcing myself to use the isopure protein and the protein shots but I know I'm still not getting in the full amount. I'm so ready for mushies. -
Glad to hear you are doing better. Thanks for sharing your story. Each one teach one.

Happy Birthday :-)

Dizzy and Lightheaded
BeefromCalie replied to Txquiltlady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you taking your vitamins? I think those are very helpful at this point since you are not eating any food. -
Good Luck on your surgery tomorrow. Hope all goes well. I was banded on 4-16. I'm feeling great. My surgery was scheduled for 11:15. The doctors came in around 11:30 and then ended up having to call back to my regular doctor regarding my echo stress test, that took about another 15 mins. after that it was all systems go. They did not even give me a chance to panic. At least you are scheduled early in the morning:thumbup:. Let us know how it goes.

***bunny bandsters april 09 master thread #2 ***
BeefromCalie replied to lingling's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Banded yesterday 4-16. Just go home a few hours ago. Had to wait on DH to get off from work to pic me up and then spent about 2 hours in traffic. Surgery went fine. funny thing though for some reason I woke up and the only pain I could feel was in my left calf. Last night I had some pain and still a little bit today. I think it's gas. I just had some broth and getting ready to take some gas-x and hopefully clear it out. No should pain yet (knock on wood). Well good luck to you bunny bandsters you have been banded and to all those who will be banded soon. -
congratulation on your band and good luck to you on your journey. I was banded on the 16th also and had to spend the night in the hospital, doctor's policy. I was ok with that I think it worked out better having trained nurses keeping an eye on me for the night.

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1
BeefromCalie replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Tomorrow is the big day. I'm so excited and maybe a little bit nervous. Someone called from the hospital today to go over all the details and to verify some medical history. I guess it's all finally starting to feel real. I sure I hope I can sleep tonight. -
not sure how much it will help with the hunger but Isopure has a protein drink that is clear you can get it at GNC or a Vitiamin store. Taste ok, at least it's not that powdery chalky taste. 40 grams of protein per bottle.

welcome and good luck on your surgery tomorrow. -
Anyone else scheduled for April 16th?
BeefromCalie replied to scoobydoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I bought the isopure at a vitamin store. I also bought some at GNC. GNC was like 2.00 more per bottle than the vitamin store was. -
Icees are carbonated? Whoops!
BeefromCalie replied to shawnamarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep they are carbonated. My son loves icees like crazy and he got braces about 3 years ago and the dentist told him no icees. That was a rough 2 years for him. I wonder about the frozen ones they sell at the grocery store those should be ok as mushies right? -
Okay Bunnies... who have you told?
BeefromCalie replied to mandilou's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I told (asked) my husband right from the beginning. I knew there would be no way I could do it without his support. Later on I told my 2 boys (19 and 17 years old) They are ok with it now but there first reaction was lose the weight on your own. I finally told my sister last week in a round about way because I was not sure what she would say. She works for a PCP and I was worried she would be against it. She actually said maybe we should do it together. But I'm too far into it now to wait on her besides her weight isn't that bad, but I would support her if she does decided to do it. I knew she would tell my mother about it and she did. So Mom's is ok with it. I did not tell them the date and I feel bad about that but I don't want them to try and make a 3 to 4 hour drive to come to the hospital. And I know theywould insist on coming, so I'll tell them I'm done after I'm done (Thurs 4-16). I told no one at work as all my best buds have been laid off the rest of the people I talk to are just acquaintances no so much true friends. And they will definitely be wanting to talk about it all the time and be watching to see how I do. Maybe eventually I'll tell them or maybe not. -
I agree with Knewme. I would ask the doctor why is his/her protocol different. I have never heard of anyone going straight to puree. be careful and good luck to you.

Anyone else scheduled for April 16th?
BeefromCalie replied to scoobydoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello All, I am being banded on the 16th also. I am so excited. I will be packing my bag this weekend. I feel bad for my hubby cause I know how much he hates hospitals He's been so supportive. I will be banded in Los Angeles, CA No pre-op diet for me. But I plan to start one myself on Monday (after Easter) just because I feel like my metabolism is so slow I want to make sure everything is out of my system before Thursday. Good luck to everyone . -
do you swallow your pills? I thought you are suppose to crush them after the lapband?

1 week out from surgery
BeefromCalie replied to watermelon_1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not been banded yet but I do think it's to early to eat those things. My PA's and the dietician said we are only suppose to eat broth and jello's and popcicles. You should follow the directions your doctor gave you for best results. Good luck to you, -
good luck with your surgery tomorrow. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Short Term Prednisone ? Weight Gain??
BeefromCalie replied to tcbgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think it's all in a matter of how you let your mind control you. I was on prednisone once when I was on weight watchers. I was perinod about gaining weight. I think I worked harder mentally that week to make sure I did not gain weight and ended up having a good weight lost that week. Just stay focused and you should be fine. -
Tomorrow is the day !!!!!!
BeefromCalie replied to hopeful60's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
good luck to you, -
If you have high blood pressure you should find a primary care doctor and go to him/her even if you do not like going to the doctor. I knew someone who died because they had high blood pressure and did not go to the doctor because the did not have insurance and could not afford it. At least if you are on blood pressure medication you might have a better chance of getting approved. Good luck,

I just got back from the doctor's - my pre-op. My PCP said my EKG was a little abnormal so she wants me to go in for an echocardiogram. :scared2:. Has anyone ran into this problem? She knows it's a small heart murmur but wants to have it checked out. I'll be so sad if I cannot have my surgery on the 16th. But I guess it's better than something bad happening during surgery. Hopefully the echocardiogram comes out ok.
