Congrats Ariane! That is wonderful and exciting. My surgery is September 16th. There are a couple spots that are all people being banded in September. Come join one. :thumbup:

I am starting my liquid diet tomorrow for my surgery Wednesday (16th). It's still hard to believe I am at this point, but I am just so excited!!! We have so many banded all ready and so many more to come. It's hard to keep up. Good to luck to those getting banded tomorrow and next week. whoo hoo!!! Boo

I've only told my husband, my parents, my sister and my best friend who is like family. I just don't feel like watching everyone "watch" me after I get the surgery. Even though you tell people 1-2 pounds a week, I still feel like they will expect bypass results. I just want to focus on me, feeling good and getting my routine and health in order without worrying about what others may be thinking. I have a friend who told everyone and she said people are ALWAYS asking "so how much have you lost so far?"

I got a letter from the Insurance (Aetna POS II) saying that they need more info to make a final decision. Everything they want is pretty much EVERYTHING THEY NEEDED. The 2 year weight history, Dr's notes, nutrition notes etc. Everything that I did with my Dr's. office. I hate to complain to my office cause they have been great in handling everything and seem to be pros and have it all under control, but how could I be submitted without them sending all that. I'm just frustrated cause it's been almost 2 weeks now and I'm getting anxious. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same thing happen? Boo

Just wanted to update that I have received approval. I guess everything was fine it just took a little longer then usual. Which is fine by me, as long as I got approved. :thumbup: Good luck to everyone else. It can be so nerve wracking waiting!

I was submitted to Insurance today for approval. Surgery still scheduled for 9/16!!! Hope it don't take too long and hope it's GOOD news!!! Boo

Thanks Ern. All the troubles are in the past. :blushing: My surgery is still set for the 16th. One week from today. I can't wait. I truly am SO READY for this. I am so praying you get approved without a hitch and can get a surgery date before hand. Keep me posted!

FINALLY GOT MY INSURANCE APPROVAL!!! I'm a happy happy girl!!! Can't wait to be banded next week! SEPTEMBER 16TH WHOO HOO!

Ern~ Way to go on the 31 pounds. That is fantastic. I think it really helps you going into all this feeling good too. I think you should try and push for a surgery date too, then the insurance might approve it knowing you have it all set up. I FINALLY GOT APPROVED. Took almost 3 weeks, but I don't even care I was so happy. My Dr's office called me Friday as I was walking out the door and told me the good news. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you for a surgery date by October and FAST approval. Keep me posted! Boo

Well...I still sit here with NO approval. :smile2: Yep, I'm into my third week of waiting and have been told 3 different stories but the end result is the same "still pending". So, I haven't been denied, but nor approved so I am definitely getting anxious now. I go Tuesday for my pre-op surgery tests at the hospital for the surgery, so I hope they freaking approve it. It's getting very frustrated, but as long as I get approved I'll be so happy I won't even care about the wait. Ern~ I have done all my insurance requirements. I did the 3 month surgical prep program with the nutritionists and Dr. I was told my Insurance likes to see weight loss. I started in February and have lost 34 pounds so far, I figured I may as well take it serious and do it. It has really helped get me prepped and feeling more positive about it all. I have always been able to loose, it's keeping it off I struggle with . :thumbup: Anyway, I finished my 3 months and had my final consult with the surgeon and nurse and they scheduled me then for surgery, along with my first 4 fill appointments and then the pre-op tests before surgery. My office does everything and has been great so far. How did you make out with your last appointment? Have you gotten your approval yet. I sure hope you can be a September bandster too! Boo

Colorado~ I remember reading people would say their tastes were totally different after banding, sounds like it might be true for you. Weird, huh? We're band day mates. I think there was like two others on that date, I can't remember. However, I am STILL waiting on Insurance approval, into my third week. I chose lapband for all the above responses as well. I really researched and when I would read about the bypass it was like a lump in my throat, overwhelming fear and the what ifs? I finally allowed myself to listen at a seminar about banding and found myself excited and eager. I used that as my sign. I couldn't get rid of that bad feeling in the pit of my stomach when I was gonna do bypass (which is what I originally was planning). So, it felt good and right and I couldn't argue with that. At first, the maintenance of the band scared me, but I think down the road most people were saying fills like once or twice a year (not the first two years) and I liked that, like it will keep with me, I can allow it to hold ME accountable and I figured it'd be like my "weight check" yearly, so I began to find comfort in the maintenance. The weight loss and how fast was not an issue in determining. I mean who doesn't want to be one of them super fast losers, it would be nice. I just want to loose and I'm all for losing the recomended 1-2 pounds a week if that is what my body wants to do. Also, and I think this is the biggest...I feel like I CAN do this. I can loose weight, I can diet...just not the long haul. So, I feel like this is that "tool" (you'll hear that a LOT) I personally need for my issues. I hope I'm right and I have no choice but to believe in myself and my future band. It is personal and there is no wrong or right, just dig down and go with what your most comfortable with and what you think will bring you long term success. Once you decide, be positive and go take your life back. :blushing:

Thanks everyone! I have called and apparently they did get everything and it's a form letter informing me of what they do need to give approval, although it reads that they still need it. Anyway, the office did send over everything and they do have it. I was submitted two weeks ago and they told me I was just submitted and put in the system yesterday. I am just so annoyed. I knew it was too good to be true that I'd be a "Got approved by Aetna in 2 days" post. LOL Oh well, as long as I get approved, I don't care what mess they put me through. LOL I'll be sure to post when I do hear something. I might call again tomorrow.

Amanda~ So glad your doing good today! That's good about the gas and burping, everyone says that can be terrible. Karebear~ Hang in there girl and DON'T give up. You can do it!!!! You've made it his far and 21 pounds is alot. Just keep on hear reading, go to the before and afters and try and keep yourself inspired. It's not fair how easy it is to gain, but that is why we're here. Just hang tight!!!! Mosean~ Glad your doing well. ONLY ONE Incision. That is awesome. I know my guy doesn't do one. That would be nice though. Your officially on your way. Can't wait to hear how today's group goes and to those on pre-op's hang in there, your day is almost here!!!

2 WEEKS OF CLEAR LIQUIDS :thumbup: That is tough. I only have 4 days I will need to do so I give you big props for that. Only a few more days! Hang in there.

This is only my GUESS, but I would think you would do just fine. Just be sure to count good here on out. Don't stress it. It sounds like people have done way worse then that. LOL Hang in there, only 7 days left...you can do it. Your post is making me thankful mine is only 4 days. :w00t: Thanks Cortney, I needed that because they are straight driving me crazy. Today I call and was half way through a talk with the insurance rep guy and it gets disconnected after he tells me they had me on the wrong program, whatever that means. I called back like 30-40 minutes later and the insurance rep girl I got now has no clue and says it was just put into the system and sent for review today. It was sent in TWO WEEKS ago. Apparently the letter I got is a stupid makes no sense form letter because they do have all my records and stuff. I am wondering if someone made a mistake and the first guy I talked to fixed it when we got disconnected. I don't know, it's just get frustrating. I have my pre-ops on Tuesday the 8th and with Monday being a holiday I really hope to know by Friday. Oh, and when I asked why when two calls I made last week I was told it was "under review" and she said she don't know why they told me that. I swear as long as I get approved I will still sing a beautiful song about them, but I am getting very anxious now. So, anyway...just needed to gripe about todays events. :thumbup::mad: Boo
