    Mexico or States

I am making a blanket assumption that there are a lot of people who make blanket assumptions. Canada is healthier? Wow - and they eat their fries with mayonnaise or gravy! :hungry:

    Induction phase (Atkins)

Wow, I just realized you've lost almost 200 lbs! That is awesome, many congratulations! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I keep reaching for a piece of fruit and have to slap my own wrist. I feel really good on Day 5 of the diet, not too shabby - I want to weigh myself but I am holding out until Friday...

    Induction phase (Atkins)

I think that first day was the same old "diet" mentality, so I was subconsciously depriving myself. Cruising along now, the worst part is the carb cravings, but they are manageable. I had a HUGE cut of rare prime rib last night at Outback...mmm... :hungry: A year? Wow - how did you feel in the middle of that timeframe?
  4. I would like some suggestions for some books you may have found helpful both pre and post op regarding the lap band. I have ordered Dr. Ortiz's book already, but I always like differendt viewpoints on things - especially something as serious at surgery. Thanks!

    Read any good books lately?

Are you part psychic? 2 minutes ago I ordered that one! Is she the one who also moderates over at SmartBandsters? Thank you for verifying that this is a good choice. :clap2:
  7. Here are the 2 PMs I sent to willbethin, wellbutrin, whatever: First one: Easy now... <HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->I wasn't even attacking you, I was trying to lighten things up - You need to relax and stop holding a grudge, it's unhealthy. Sincerely, Kurt aka fishy Her response: Oh so you throw insults and then say you're lightening things up?? Please don't write me, especially privately. I do not hold grudges so please don't act as if you know me.... Write someone else and tell them, "bite me"! My response to that: I hope you are seeing a therapist. Good luck. Why haven't you answered anyone who is questioning your BMI? Must be because you are full of shit. Have a nice day! And lastly, her (hopefully) final response: I haven't seen any msgs regarding BMI? I have mentioned my BMI in my post more than once. What is the question? Why do I need therapy? Perhaps, because I respond to someone like you that feels inferior to women and the only enjoyment he gets out of life is continually harrassing them. I have asked you to please not email me any longer. I hate wasting my time with ignorant people. You are not a productive person in life are you? Why do you send me private msg's? Because you don't want others to realize what an ass you are? That's probably too late! So....there, it's out there for all to see. My harsh insults - oh, you poor dear. Here's the PM Insult Score: willbethin - 4 fishy - 1 I better get busy... :biggrin1: <!-- / message --><!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
  8. Could someone, other than welbutrin, tell me what SDS stands for? I want to make sure I'm taking the correct medication...
  9. The last PM I sent to you was at 2:21 PM, almost 8 hours ago. Yet you are trying to make people think I'm continuing to send them! You are unreal. And also, for the record, the most insulting thing I said was when I suggested you should be seeing a therapist. Which I believe you have publicly proven beyond a doubt would be a very good idea. Go ahead, get your last word in - but I hope it isn't another lie about me.
  10. Is there a way to block PMs from certain tro.. er, I mean people?
  11. If you'd like, I can post the full content of our exchange here, including where I tried to bury the hatchet and where you accuse me of harrassment. Which, by the way, is a pretty strong charge. I'm done with you - are you done with me yet?
  12. This thread, so far, is a dream come true for me. My main goal for having this surgery is to get off the 300 units I'm pumping in every day, as well as that horrible Metformin that has had me sick to my stomach for the last 6 years.
  13. Of course, I picked Robin Williams in the other poll. But only if I get to keep the gorilla suit.
  14. :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Mmmm, Sara Rue.... Though...I probably wouldn't throw Angelina out of bed either...

    Sleep Study

Getting a good fit in a mask is key. I had started out with the standard gel mask, but because I generally sleep on my side it wouldn't stay sealed. My wife said I was whistling like a tea kettle in the middle of the night. I switched to the nasal pillows, and have been using them for over a year - love them. I sleep so much better now. Also, once you have lost a significant amount of weight, don't be lulled into thinking your apnea is gone - you may need adjusting, you may not need the CPAP at all - but the majority of people still need it after the weight loss as well, so it's important to do another sleep study. I did the home test, they delivered the unit to my house and showed me how to hook it up (plus it came with detailed instructions). Slept hooked up one night, then they came and picked it up. Turns out I was also waking up over 70 times an hour - no wonder I felt like crap all the time. My CPAP travels with me whenever I'm away from home - all I need is an electric outlet and I'm good!

    Jokes Thread

Funny stuff folks! I have the worst memory for jokes, here's the only one I ever remember: Two cannibals were eating a clown. One says to the other, "Does this taste funny to you?"
  18. Aaahhh, refreshing! Thanks telly! :biggrin1:
  19. I never said you called me arrogant - I called myself arrogant! Oh yeah - and bite me.

    Flip a Coin?

I get the feeling that there is an increased interest in the band and other forms of bariatric surgery, mostly due to the increase of obesity awareness this country seems to be going through. I'm seeing advertising by doctors in newspapers, magazines and TV for the lap band, etc. that I've never seen before. I think that it is more important than ever to thoroughly research before choosing a surgeon, becauses anytime there's a trend, there are businessmen and charlatans alike who are wanting to cash in on it. So there will be more surgeons popping out of the woodwork, and more horror stories in the near future. A forum like this has an incredible amount of information, most of which is based on real-life experiences and is therefore extremely valuable - however, IMO, this SHOULD NOT be the only stop on the research road. books, physicians, nutritionists, the Internet, articles written by experts in the field, the library, bariatric patients, support groups, etc. - all should be used before making one of the most important decisions you'll ever make.
  22. :help: I can't figure out if I'm a know-it-all or if I'm stupid - willbethin can't make up her mind! :biggrin1: And all this time I just thought I was arrogant. :heh:
  23. I rest my case. The issues you must be dealing with are overwhelming your ability to listen to others, so there's nothing I or anyone else could possibly say that would get through to you. Again, you did not do your research, yet you are the one who professes to know that every doctor in Mexico is crap. I just do not understand people who make blanket statements about things as if it's the truth. Hmm, kind of like your hero Bush...:grouphug:
  24. :grouphug: You are entitled to your opinion. I am going to Mexico and I know exactly what band I'm getting. You made a very poor choice for a doctor, and are trying to blame all your issues on the entire medical profession of Mexico. Ludicrous. Get a grip, and work on the mental before the physical.
