How much food do you eat at your sweet spot?
Ready4a2ndChance replied to dustout's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know it's been a while since you posted this entry but i was wondering how you are doing. My doctor also only gives 1cc for your first and second fill and then .5 ccs after..............I asked about this and the Asst. said that there are guidelines that come from somewhere( she told me but I can't remember) but they are supposed to be followed when administering fills............I went to a center of excellence doctor and hospital. So I totally trust their rules/guidelines. I also found out that I actually had 3.5cc's in after surgery and I didn't realize til I asked about it. I was 4.5cc at my last appt, and I was up for a .5cc fill, but they said they had a little manuevering room so they put in 1cc and at 4.5cc i could eat anything and now at 5.5cc I can't eat ANYTHING without it coming back up, i chew and chew and chew and it doesn't matter..........so that .5cc really makes a bigger difference than you might think...............it doesn't take EVERYONE a high amount of cc's in a band for it to work. -

Hi, everyone!!! It's been a LONG while since I posted, but I've been reading through some posts and it sounds like everyone is doing pretty good, maybe a few minor set backs but the support and encouragement from everyone is awesome. I am having a REALLY rough time, I gained 4lbs back so now i'm at like 8lbs, and I haven't been able to lose ANYTHING. I only have 1.5ccs in my band and i've just past the 2month post op mark. I'm so dissapointed. I am getting another fill on Wednesday (it was supposed to be December 2, but I called to see if I could get in faster because I feel so hungry and never full) I know they are only gonna give me 1cc maybe 1.5, although i'm going to ask for 2cc...............they are very conservative there. If I can only get 1cc then i'm going to ask if I can have another before I drive to MS for Christmas with the family. My husband is coming home for rest and relaxation from afghanistan in about 3wks and I was really hoping to have made a bigger change by now..............so that bums me out. I ordered new athletic shoes so they should be in today............any busy moms have exercises to share that they do that have a big impact??? Or DVD's??? -
Not losing weight - very frusterated

BTW, yes, I know i haven't lost alot of weight myself, but i've only had 1 fill of 1.5cc...............so I hardly have any restriction at all and I'm having a rough time. Just because somene says that they have had a bite of bday cake doesn't mean that they are gorging on those things and making bad food choices. -

Wow, some people can be kind of harsh. It really all depends on how often and how much of these "bad" items you are having. My doctor and the dietician that works in his office have said that it's all about moderation, you can have almost anything in moderation. The dietician has said that if you completely cut yourself off then you'll just want it that much more. I was given the ok to have an occasional glass of red wine after 6wks. I also did have a small piece, about a 2 or 4 bit piece of bday cake at a friends homecoming party.............I didn't have the big ole' chunk that I would have had in the past, just a small piece. Should we completely cut out things that we like and wait 6months down the road to try them again and then possibly gorge on them because it's been so long and tastes so good, or should we just try to moderate now????????? My dietician told me to think of my calories like the money in my checking acct.....................and to choose wisely how I spend those calories, she said you want to get the most bang for your buck, so you want to use those few calories you can eat by making wise choices and pick things that will give your body the most nutrition..........however it's ok to splurge on something a little extra every now and then. So I just stick to that advice. It's totally unrealistic to say I"M NEVER EVER GONNA EAT THAT AGAIN. -

Wow, I sure wish I could have had my first fill as quickly as you and that it would have been 4cc.................... I had my surgery on 9/9/09 and I couldn't have my first fill til October21st................and only 1cc, I feel NO restriction at all. I haven't lost anymore weight, all the weight I did lose I lost in the first 2wks post op. Next fill isn't til December 2, i guess we'll see..........I have a 10CC band -

Well the cultures came back from my skin infection and it's Mrsa.............so I have to get another antibiotic called bactrim. I have my appt. at the surgeons office tomorrow at 9:30 and they are going to check it, she said sometimes this certain type of infection can definately be a cause for port removal for up to 4 months and it may delay my first fill if it's not cleared up in time. From what I understand this particular infection can get into the port itself and cause problems and not clear up easily. Just a word to you all don't assume just because you have no fever that you have no infection........I still have NOT run a fever and I noticed the infection on Thursday. If your inscison doesn't look "normal" or you feel alot more pain 2wks after surgery than you did right after surgery something is not right. I had a large red area, itchyness, warm/hot to touch, hard packed tissue like thing all around and on my inscisonand no puss til the 2nd day and it was very very sore...............but NO FEVER don't wait for the fever to get checked. This particular infection can be hard to treat. i'll keep ya posted...................Goodluck to the rest of you, don't get scared by this post.....there aren't many people that get this from this surgery i've already had it in the past so i was more susceptible (sp?) Take care -

I had already done the antibiotic topical for 2days and it got worse, I have an appt Tuesday but since there was alot of hardness and burning around and on top of my insicion my sister (who is a nurse) told me that I should at least have it looked at before Tuesday -the only reason it's not til tuesday is because of the time it takes me to get up there and it has to fit into a certain time after I drop off my son and before I can pick him up- ANYWAY........so I called my primary here and guess what the WHOLE office was closed, the whole freakin' office at a class.........so i went to the ER on base just to get antibiotics and once i got there I noticed it was starting to puss and so end of the story is I have cellulitis (which i've had before after my csection with my son) and they gave me meds and told me to watch for fever. I also started having some lightheadedness on the drive to drop my kids off at my friends. I guess i'll know more tuesday -

Well...........i'm worried. I have having port site pain, and redness. It's also hard and warm to the touch. I'm not running a fever or feeling sick. My port site just hurts alot. I am going to the doctor on Tuesday, I hope they don't have to remove the port.............if I have an infection and they have to remove the port then i'm just going to have everything removed. I'm not going to chance getting another infection. THIS SUCKS -

well im not technically on mushies yet but the protein powder gave me severe diarreah so they said i could do eggs and tuna for the added protein. i think i have a 10cc band but i will have to ask. -

Well i'm eating Campbells Harvest Select Zesty tomato bisque (not just regular tomato soup) it has 100cals for 1 cup but i'm only doing 1/2 cup. I was told that I shouldn't be at 1 full cup per meal til later on. The tuna is one of those 2.9oz packages or i'll have one or two eggs instead of the tuna. I added up my cals for one day and it came to like 690/720 range, and right now they said to strive for 40grams of protein which is about what i'm getting. I don't think i'm drinking enough water though. I am down 13lbs now as of today. -

There were several reasons; excess gas, empty calories, high in sodium and carbohydrates.........I definately don't need any more gas hahahahaha. QUESTION: I haven't had a fill yet, i'm 2wks out almost, should I feel alot of restriction????????? I feel like I'm too hungry........typical day 4oz of V8juice/4oz cottage cheese for breakfast.........2boiled mushed up eggs and some light mayo.......and mushy tuna or tomato soup for dinner and maybe a small smoothie or some yogurt for a snack (I get up at 6am and go to bed at like midnight/1am)...............should I be so hungry inbetween meals. I have 1cc in my band. -

I was told no on refried beans, before surgery I thought it would be a great way to get protein but they discouraged it for me. I'm pretty much still on full liquids til Tuesday with the exception of mushed up eggs and tuna for extra protein since the protein powder gives me an upset stomach and lands me in the potty for a while. I would love to have some black beans with pepperjack cheese, that was a favorite of mine before surgery. -

I'm doing pretty well. Right now my menu pretty much is the same on a daily basis. I'm having a small 4oz cup of Live Active Breakstones cottage cheese and some V8 Juice for breakfast, then for lunch i'll have about 4oz of Zesty Tomato Soup or some tuna and light mayo and for dinner I'll have 1 or 1 1/2 boiled eggs mashed up really good with some salt (sometimes light mayo like an egg salad) and if I don't have tuna for lunch sometimes I'll have tuna for dinner one of those 2.9oz packages. I drink lots of water, crystal light, gatorade and protein water. I can't do the protein powder like I said before because it really makes me have like diarreah all day so I was told that I could start mushies early if my body tolerated them. I just do tuna and eggs because of the protein...........I dont see any reason to go too far into mushies right now. I'm going to wait another week or week and a half before I do that. I've lost 12lbs to date, i'm so happy, It's amazing what 12 lbs makes. I already feel like I have more energy. -

I was banded on the 9th and I feel like my stomach is still swollen but I feel like it's gone down a little in the last day or two. I have added real food myself but only eggs and tuna, I mush the eggs up real good with a little light mayo. The only reason I have done it is because the protein powders dont sit well with my stomach. I have bowel issues since my gallbladder removal and I figured those were two foods that could give me some added protein. I'm glad to hear everyone is doing so well................KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK LADIES, and hang in there to the other ladies on pre ops. amanda -

I think we are officially the Sexy Septembers. I really like it!!!! I feel sexier already with just losing 12lbs, hahaha. You know though, I am totally worried about my big ole csection flap that I already have it is starting to really hang down and i'm afraid when my hubby gets home from afghanistan he'll have to use a tent pitch to hold up the flap hahaha. -

Hi Ladies I hope everyone that has been banded since the beginning of the month is doing wonderful!!! I am going to get my staples out tomorrow at 1pm. I have 15staples. I hate getting them out, I had 60-65 when I had my last csection. They hurt when skin has gotten stuck in them but hopefully that hasn't happened. I have been just walking around the house mostly, and in the backyard with my kids. I did drive my son to school this morning (4miles) and went to get thyroid meds from walgreens but thats about as much as i've done. I've mainly just been taking advantage of my Grandma and Aunt being here. They leave tomorrow though:sad:. The Protein powder was really making me have watery poop so I stopped using it and just get my protein naturally from milk, cottage cheese and special k protein Water ( I know not natural but not powder, lol) I've only got to get 40grams in right now during this phase so i'm good. Gross to mention I know but when I had a BM the other day like some was like it should be and some was loose well seriously for 2 days there are these little rock looking ball things at the bottom of my toilet that just wont flush that came from my poop:blink: I'm not sticking anything down there to fool with them either, maybe Calcium rocks, lmao I dont know. They are tiny like little stones very odd. Anyway i'm sleeping on side and part stomach for now.........my inscisons seem to be a little higher than most i've seen but i'm sure they are all different. My bandage covers were bothering me and the nurse told me i could put waterproof bandaids on them so right now i have Little Einstein Waterproof bandaids on my belly hahaha can't wait to see surgeons face tomorrow when he sees that. NITE ALL
