complications 16 days post op infection
sabertooth posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well here goes, i was 16 days post op and doing i guess ok, and then wham, wednesday night it hit me so bad, i had soooo much abdomal pain like twisting, cutting etc, i first thought it was something i ate, or i got the flu, but the pain never went away, then i thought my band slipped, or port twisted, finally enough was enough and i went to emergency room, they diidnt know what it was, i was put in a room with fluids and pain meds for a day and a half and when i told doctor about foul odor and direaha, he said sounds like i had a infection from the antibotics they gave me on surgery day and it was right in the right time frame, so they gave mw more antibotics, i am home now but the pain still comes and goes, i feel bloated all the time and when i move a certain way it hurts, expecially when i try to cough or sneeze, i have to hold my stomach alot to do this, has anyone else had this happen to them, i still feel like i am rejecting my band or something else is wrong, and to top it off, i didnt eat anything in the hospital and i gained 5 lbs, go figure, -
i am 7 days out post op and my doctor said i can eat anything as long as it was pureed like mushy consisticy, however i am always hungry and everytime i eat i dont get that full feeling, could something be wrong with my band?, tonight i had chicken salad on 1 piece of toast, and it was fine, i could have eaten more but i stopped, its getting a little scary if by band is :broken: already, i didnt have a fill at surgery because my doctors said it went on tight and i shouldnt need a fill for awhile, thanks

hi everyone, finanally got banded yesterday (monday), everything went great, wasnt in much pain yesterday, feeling a bit unconfortable today but not that much, now it begins with the diet, my problem is knowing what to eat, i keep reading here to get alot of answers, stage 1 and stage 2 is confusing to me, but i will figure it out, thanks
-
hi, what kind of foods are you eating to loose this without exercising, thanks

Hi everyone, yes i read this forum almost everyday, its been overwelming of the responses here on all subject. I understand that some folks have had bad experiences with either surgery and i feel sorry for that, but i did not post this thread to start arguements, i read all you responses and i am glad to say i have decided to have the lap band. In my life right now there is so much going on i feel this is right for me, i have started my 2 week pre-opt diet and in 4 days i have lost 9 lbs, which is good for me, i honestly think i can do this with the band, again, i am sorry to those who were attacked here and please dont stop your replys on this or any thread because of some misfortunes, it is beacuse of all the replys it helped me make a decision(along with my family and doctor) so any ways thank you all,

hi to everyone and congrats on your sucess, i am wondering how you did it? i am to get my band on aug 10 2009 and i read all the sucsess stories and the amounts of weight lost and i cant understand how to acomplish the same goal. can some of you give me some ideas and tips on how to do this and achieve simular results, thanks

Hi, I thanks all of you for your imput on this. I certainley did not want to get others with either surgery all wound up and bad mouthing each other, so i am soory this had happened. I just wanted some one with experience in this to give me their views on the surgery, so lets all just take a step back and remember what brought us all here in the first place, this forum is to be informational for all of us, with both good and bad experiences, so please everyone, remember we are all in the same boat, to improve our health, not to bad mouth each other, thanks

hi all, i was just wondering, i heard men tend to lose wight faster and more wight than women with the band, what are some amounts of weight loss and time to lose it , and how long have you had your band? thanks
-
i am scheduled for bypass aug 10, but i think i am changing my mind to the band, how much weight can you lose in the first year following the band? my doctors says about 40 lbs in a year, does this sound right? i need to lose 75 lbs to be at goal weight and i think this is acheivable with the band, and not doing bypass. i am so mixed up right now, i want o work out and lift weights and i heard thet lifting weights might pull the band or cause damage, is this true, what are some of your weight loss amounts sofar? and doe the band actually make you think you are full? my problem is i am always hungry, thanks
-
hi, its been a while since i have been on here to post, i read all the time and i was wondering, how did most of you decide on which way to go, either the band or bypass itself? i am scheduled for bypass surgery on august 10, and i guess i am getting nervous and i have been thinking of switching to the band. has anyone gotten the band and wished they had the bypass? or gotten the bypass and wish they gotten the band? and if you got the band what kind of weight loss can you expect to lose in the first year and so on, thanks

before surgery diet
sabertooth replied to sabertooth's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thanks for the reply, i will go thru with the surgery, losing the weight is harder to do than people realize so i will use every advantage i can to achieve my goals and have a better, healthier life, you all are right, you can lose the weight only to gain it back and then some, this vicious cycle keeps me depressed on how i look,so i am glad to go on this journey to a new me, thanks again
