congrat manowar. as for the whole easter thing figure out what you are going to eat, and only sit at the table while you are eating. stay out of the kitchen, and remember why you got the band to begin with. good luck~!~

Craig don't beat yourself up. If it were easy you wouldn't be having the surgery. Do your best. I will say this, you should really try to accept what you are allowed to eat because after surgery you are very limited. You will probably loose about 15lbs by your date. Hang in there, you can do it~!

Congrats~!~! I'm glad to hear that you are feeling well. It took me a full 2 weeks to feel better. As far as the Protein Weight Watchers shakes have on gram less of protein that those terrible medifast drinks. Give them a try~! they are good.
Lcubed oceanside is a bit away, but when the nicer weather comes I would love to walk on the boardwalk in Long Beach.

I love to chew gum. I was chewing it on the way out of the hospital. DR. and Nurses said it was fine. I too haven't swollowed gum since I was just a tot. I did find out the hard way that chewing gum causes me to swollow air with adds to the already existing problem with the remaining gas in my body. But as soon as I am feeling 100% I'll be chewing once again.

I am 8 days post-op, and i cheated 2 days b4 surgery. I am having more trouble with the post-op liquids because I have been home.....watching tv and most of the comercials are about food. I am hungry and want to eat but shouldn't. so I haven't but I don't know if I will make another week of full liquids.
Good luck to you all with your pre-op diets. Hang in there.

Hello fellow addicts~!~
When we say this is a world wide fellowship we aren't kidding!! :tongue2:
Had my surgery on 2/23/09 day 4 post-op.
Taking pain meds. Its been ok. I have have a lot of pain, and gas. Going to my first meeting tonight.
I am the chairperson, but I asked someone else to chair for me because I don't feel that it is right for me to chair being on the pain meds.
My clean date is 3/4/05. I haven't shared openly about what kind of surgery that I was having, just that I was having surgery. The people in my support group and a few others know what I had done, but I am quite sure that it will be getting out. Some people don't know how to mind there own business.
But it is what it is. Today is the first day I am really feeling better. I'm sure taking a shower has a lot to do with it.
I wish you all well, happy loosing:thumbup:

I take time release meds as well. as long as you don't have a problem swollowing them you will not have a problem. don't project. I have been able to swollow since right out of surgery. I think you will do fine. good luck

Hi morningoasis811, don't beat yourself up. I am in another 12 step fellowship and I am hearing you say that this is an outside issue. I don't believe that. Anything that affects you and your recovery is not an outside issue! I think and this is just my opinion, but the fact that you aren't being honest may be why you are relapsing with the food. We are only as sick as our secrets. Hand in there, get honest and I believe that you will turn it around. Good luck

You know they really don't tell you how painfull it might be after the surgery ~!
I am glad that I am hearing from others who have had more than the usual pain. I have licdoderm Patches that I was using for my lower back pain, and I am calling DR. to see if I can use on the port site. Pain pills don't seem to be doing much either except making me sleep. Hope we all feel better real soon.

Hey Heather, I'm happy to hear that you are feeling better, gives me hope. I still have a lot of pain at the port site and still have gas pains. Where on LI do you live? I am in Elmont. don't think I am quite ready to exersice just yet but soon for sure.

A friend had given me some of his leftover medifast packages:eek:. they suck,
but i read somewhere in the literature to try mixing it with either apple or white grape juice. what a difference. give it a shot, so much better.

I am feeling a lot better.

but i know it can only get better. for the first time since the actual surgery i have felt hungry. i will check the list to see what i can have to eat.

thanks fran for your well wishes. I am 4 days post-op. port site is very tender and still have a lot of gas, but feeling much better today than yesterday. do you get a fill in the operating room b4 your surgery is complete? of do they do an assesment at your first appointment post-op?
-
I am on day 4 post-op and the dr. told me that the port area will be sore for about 2 weeks. i like your time line better, but its not looking likely...lol i can feel the gas right behind the port. but its getting better. thanks
-
day 4 post-op, and the pain is getting better. its hard in the morning because i haven't moved all night. i said this earlier on this thread if you have some sort of hand held massager use it on your lower abdomen and back to help break up the gas. it has really helped.
the part that hurts the most right now is the area where the port is. it is very swollen and brused.
hang in there, it can only get better.
-
I am 30 hours post-op and am still in a lot of pain. the port area is very sore and swollen. as far as the gas i have a hand held massager that vibrates, i ran it up and down my back and my lower abdomen. that reall seemed to help. they kept me 2 nights because the pain was so bad.
hope you get some relief soon
-
I am 30 hours post-op, the gas pain has gotten a little bit better. the area where the port is is still very swollen. how long b4 that gets better?
-
Stick with it everyone.
"I made it!"
Surgery was 2/23/09 and I came home today. They kept me an extra day, I was in so much pain.
Here is a little tip for post-op in the hospital. If you have someone there with you have them rub your back, especially your lower back to help relieve the gas pain. I still have lots of gas, its a killer. But I am feeling a lot better since I have been home.
Good luck~!~

Hang in there...are you allowed to have Soups? I was, it had to be 3or less grams of fat per serving. except for today only clear liquids...that has been rough. but i know that it is all going to be worth it.
-
Thank you....I live on Long Island in New York...lol
-
Day b4 surgery....clear liquids...cheated last night on pizza.....being very diligent today. Don't have to be in the hospital till 1:30pm...stinks
