Repeat after me: "Just because I can doesn't mean I should." Don't play fast and loose with the rules....they are there for a reason. Papaya enzyme will help the digestion process go faster. You can get them at the health food store (like GNC).

She sounds like she's from the old "don't smile til Thanksgiving" teacher style. Is it her first time as principal? My guess is she's trying to establish her authority and will lighten up as the weeks go by. Just keep smiling at her and do your job and show her what you're made of. Ask her opinion and advice when you can and build up her ego, let her know you respect her authority. And about your "closet"....the best person to register a complaint is one of the parents.....drop the right info to the right parents and they'll take care of the situation. At least that's been my experience. Hope things get better.

So many nsv's to come.......this trip can be fun!! And good for you for getting out there and playing football!

sounds like 'somebody' is on the $$train!! The requirements are usually requirements of the insurance carrier, not necessarily the surgeon. I'd talk to the customer service at the insurance company first. I too had multiple medical problems including sleep apnea and heart trouble (several stents, high bp, etc) and I was at the hospital about 2 hrs. after the surgery. Talk to the insurance company yourself!!

That is unforgivable!!! I'm glad you realize that you don't deserve to be treated like that! Have you confronted them and told them how they make you feel?

Have you seen this video? So glad you found the best of the best! http://www.stanfordhospital.com/media/winMedia/wmmKrontvNeuroMoyamoya

It is my understanding that UHC is the easiest company from which to gain approval. You might also want to do some reading at www.bariatriceating.com There are people there with all kinds of surgeries and the pinned topics at the top of each forum have good basic info about a lot of thing relating to all of them.

Drinking with meals and other oddities
GayleTX replied to robinem's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've never heard of anybody whose doctor recommended or even allowed liquids during or after a meal. Are you having trouble getting food to go down? Isn't it amazing how almost every doctor has their their own guidelines and theories of what is allowable. Since this is still a relatively new procedure, we are, after all, just guinea pigs in a giant experiment. I put as much confidence in my fellow bandsters (the successful ones!!) advise as I do most of the doctors. -
gemini here......

Poodles.....did you just come off the Effexor? The withdrawal from that can be purdee hell! Maybe since he put you on another med to take its place it won't afffect you, but many people have a hard time with it. Just FYI in case you start having strange symptoms...things like electrical charges doing through your brain, nightmares, etc. I'm always tight in the mornings.....I always drink a hot drink before I try to eat any Breakfast.

There are too many good doctors within easy driving distance from Wylie for her to settle for an outmoded surgery at a questionable clinic. The Surgical Center of Richardson (just off No. Central on Belt Line) is not far from Wylie at all and Dr. Benevides there is one of the most experienced and successful in the country. My insurance company (BCBS) would not approve several of the clinics in that area. Has she checked with her carrier to see who they will approve?

That is a HUGE nsv ....that's what this is all about - your health!!

Patti......you might try going to www.bariatriceating.com the people there are very knowledgable about nutrition and eating and are very generous with their experience.

Your main concern is how is the fall-out going to affect your daughter. I know she'd love to have you there but at her age kids (girls especially) are much more into peer opinion than parent opinion. If you plan to stay in that same little town for the next several years, a big blow-up over this could affect her social life for the rest of her school years. Be sure you think thru all the ramaifcations before you make a decision.
-
Reclaim......I like it a lot - it dissolves better than any other brand I've tried and the flavor of the chocolate is good (it's the only flavor I've tried). It is what my surgeon dispenses thru his office in Dallas; also as the Surgical Centr of Richardson just off BeltLine Rd.

pigpurple........each thread has a different subject. you posted on a thread about reclaim (you clicked the button you would click if you wanted to answer that question re reclaim.) what I think you meant to do......and what you need to do to get a good answer to your question re pills.....is start at new thread......start at the top, click on 'new topic' and go from there. You'll get the hang of it before long!!

Or do you have A/C? Do hope so!!

Isn't it a shame that we didn't appreciate our 'normalcy' when we had it??!! I look at my old pix now and realize I was a cute girl and had a nice little body. Ya'll are young enough that you can regain that look when the pounds are gone. That's quite a motivation!!

GayleTX replied to misschrissie67's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome....greetings from a neighbor just over the border right on Red River in Texas. I know your neighborhood well! So happy for you! I understand your elation....I began to feel better the day I started my process and was getting around and doing better by the time of the surgery (due to the pre-op diet). Best wishes to you !:clap2: -
Once Banded, How Much Weight Did You Lose In The First 2 Months?
GayleTX replied to ItsGottaGo!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I lost 15 lb pre-op and have lost 50 lb as of today, 4 months out tomorrow. Most of that 50 lb was in the first 2 1/2 months, then it slowed down. Some weeks nothing, some weeks 3 lbs! Good luck! -
Sweetie, you really need to do some serious research on losing weight after wls AND staying healthy!!! You need to start each meal with a high Protein food or drink and IF you have room left eat some other healthful food.EVERY DAY!! EVERY MEAL!! FOREVER!! You need about 100 grams of protein every day. As for supplements or meal substitutes....find a good tasting Protein shake - they will help you stay away from the evils at the drive-thru's. As for biscuit breakfast....too many calories and carbs and besides, good luck in being able to get down a piece of bread - it gets stuck. "fast food'...no such thing....you need to take a good half hour to eat a meal. chew chew chew, swallow, wait, wait, wait, chew, chew, chew, etc pretzels, cheetos....too many carbs and calories if you are going to lose weight and stay healthy fried calamari....no fried foods if you are going to lose weight and stay healthy. otherwise sounds okay. as for the drinks.....you are right on target. Lots of liquids (at least 1/2 gal./day), no carbonated drinks ever, no caffeine while you are healing. Your goal should not be to be skinny but to be healthy and strong. There are many good foods out there that you can eat.....we just have to search for them and cook them .- It is possible to still pick up food 'at the window' for breakfast.....eggs, bacon, sausage. Other meals, Wendy's chili is perfect for bandster....it goes down okay, McD's Asian salad is a good choice. I know what I'm talking about because I ate just like you are now for waaaayy too many years. I ruined my health and am having to work like crazy now to regain it. Don't try to trick the band. Get and love it and live right and you'll be happy you did. If you need info on how to eat and be successful, the bariatriceating.com message board is great for that purpose.

??? Which protien drink to get - Surgery is in 16 days
GayleTX replied to Teresa'sTurn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The Reclaim Double Dutch chocolate is very good and very satisfying both as a shake and as a plain drink. Myocel is pretty awful. Both are available at the SCOR center in Richardson and are what my surgeon requires for pre-op. My favorite Protein powders are the Protein Delite....comes in many flavors that are just delicious - chocolate coconut is my favorite -but comes in many fruit flavors, too. -
I started my pre-op diet a month before I had to just in case I could't lose as much as I needed to in 2 weeks (I know my history!). I relied heavily on Protein shakes (3/day) and experimented with the foods I would need to eat after banding. Stocked my "personal pantry" with "my" foods, stayed busy doing all that as well as studying the boards and literature. Make sure you've got some Protein Shakes you love and practice with the various shake recipes. It helps keep you satisfied, keeps you from missing sweets, and keeps your energy level up. Best wishes!!

I don't know much either because I don't look and it happens so quickly. I step in office, pull up shirt, he sticks his head under my boob (that's why I can't see what's going on), takes about 40-45 sec., says "step across hall", I go across for floro, watch it go down, and that's that. I've never felt a stick or had a pain or a problem. And it works.
