    March 9 surgery date

I also feel like I am eating too much, particularly at night. During the day I am fine. I am eating a least a cup of food for dinner though and I am hungry. However I am satisfied after and will not eat again in the evening, snack included. My weight is going down then up a couple of pounds and then down again.
  2. Hi all. Laurie from NYC gearing up for a March 9 surgery and I am really nervous. But the alternatives of continuing to gain weight and develop more health issues is not an appealing one, so I am going forward. I am a person in recovery and have always struggled with weight except when I was at the height of my active using. since I am sober (15 years now) I have steadily gained weight and I am now at my highest 290 lbs. I am married and my SO has been very supportive. I have arranged to take off 1 1/2 weeks from work to ensure I am ready to go back. Any and all support appreciated and reciprocated. peace..

    March 9 surgery date

March 9 surgery and I am getting ready to go for my follow up appt with Dr Merola right now, and I am due back at work tomorrow. I am healing, am on mushies now. I have not vomited or had much nausea, but the gas is driving me crazy. it seemed to disappear for a couple of days but today it is back with a vengence. It is radiating through my chest and stomach and sometimes near the port. I have tried everything, walking around, ultra strangth gas X AND thin strips, I even tried to take a muscle relaxer as I heard someone else recommend. Even though it comes and goes, I am worried to go back to work with these annoying pains which are not painful but very uncomfortable. I will see what my doctor says, but I suspect there is little more I can do. On the bright side, I am down 16 pounds which makes me happy. Just wish the gas would leave for good... How is everyone else from 3/9?
  4. Came home from hospital yesterday, am pretty sore. no real gas issues, except the first day immediately following surgery, but morphine drip took care of that. got up and walked to bathroom night of surgery and morning after. have been getting up walking and sitting up several times a day since home. now taking liquid tylenol and percoset alternativey. chest feels congested-prob from intubation, but am afraid to cough for incision pain. sleeping on and off. trying hard to get liquids in 4 oz an hour when awake, broth, tea, clear juice, popscile and fudgicle sugar free, sugar free Jello. no nausea or vomiting at all...period. time for broth will post later, glad all on board from the 9th doing well.
  5. Up and getting ready to go to the hospital, I am quite nervous. I hope this is not as bad as I think it may be. I would like to be able to say "piece of cake" afterward. Knowing that others on this board have gone through this somehow gives me strength to get through this Will post upon return
  6. sounds like you did well, AIT. 11 lbs is significant in a short amount of time Gabi, please post about how your experience was when you are able. I will do the same. Some thoughts entering in... I hope I am sedated very early on, I really do not want to know much. I am wondering how to fill the void that food will leave...
  7. well the day is fast approaching, tomorrow is surgery. I am nervous :scared2:and keep questioning whether I am doing the right thing:unsure:...but continuing to go on gaining weight will only cause me serious medical problems in the long run. I think I made the right decision. I know there are several of us scheduled tomorrow, and I wish all of us the best and a smooth recovery. (Good luck Rochel, have not seen you post in awhile but thoughts are also with you)
  8. picklesix: I am pretty nervous, not on liquid pre op, but low fat pre op having lost 13 lbs so far. I guess the scariest thing is that once I go asleep I am waking up with something foreign inside of me...but I keep thinking of the alternatives of not taking this step...
  9. RECEIVED MY APPROVAL FROM HIP YEAH!!! Surgery date still 3/9/08
  10. Just went for my pre-surgical testing today. and will now be awaiting approval from HIP which I am told will just be a few days since my package is complete. I already lost 13 lbs and I have just been on a low fat diet with portion control, no liquid diet required by my doc. March 9 is my date, just keeping my fingers crossed that there is not problems with my insurance. I see quite a few of us have this date. Stocking up on stuff for post op period of liquids...I just want to get this over with I am getting nervous again
  11. Hey Rochel, how do you put the weight ticker on?
  12. thanks AIT, I am pretty nervous about the whole thing. I have done my homework and I have just started eating low fat, as my doc does not require liquid, but I want to shrink my liver enough so there are no compications. I also notice I am getting very emotional lately. I have the feeling I am in for a ride...I am also excited to get this going. I am in Astoria where are you? My name is Laurie
